Really? Do we have a recent precedent? Can't remember any this year / laat year....

About 80% of this forum mused about winning 5 on the bounce. But well done nonetheless.

Norwell is out too. Cue 'trap game lovers'.....

Is VaAllday's point any different from losing an argument with your partner, and conceding so, even when you know you were not in the wrong?

It was a good play. One you see quite a lot every week. If you are being paid millions of shekels a year, I expect that. I hope the puppies are safe mind you...

They finished the game very well, on both sides of the ball. The running game was nearing 5 ypc. Only one QB ever, has thrown more 3+ TD passes in consecutive games than Luck. We won.
Quite a lot to dislike in the game as well, but thought I would let others dwell on those.

Anything on the positive side is winning so how is being at .500 not winning??? Anything below .500 is losing
You are definitely winning this debate, and I'm 49% sure of that.

Look up 'winning' in the dictionary.

Or they were practicing a play to use later when they had an opportunity in game and it didn't matter. They could also now use it as a double trick play where it looks like they are going to pass to luck again, but it goes to someone else. Why not practice plays or set up future plays in a game you have locked up... I think it is a wise use of what is frequently wasted "garbage time".
Pretty sure it was not garbage time.....

Not sure what a Scotsman living in France is supposed to do today, but I will make sure I raise a glass to all you nice American townsfolk. Have a great holiday, and if you have a chance to go for those last two potatoes, don't. Settle for one.
Best.

So, Luck has thrown 3 TD passes in 7 consecutive games (6 and a bit at the time). And we need a trick play. I doth rest my case. Looked a bit show offy for me.

No such thing as a trap game. Nonsense really. It's like your wife having a 'trap' birthday. Like, it's her 37th and you don't bother with a present. Wooooosh. Doghouse here I come. Etc.

What is the part in bold based on? I think you're misunderstanding my point. Nobody has said Frank did it to send a message, just that it did send a message. I think he wanted to win the game, and that is all he was thinking about.
His actions have impact because he is the head coach. Its not a tactic.
Sorry, you did. Setting the tone and creating a culture. Something like that. Not losing is better than losing. Every time. Defend that. All this locker room mumbo jumbo stuff is quite frankly rather childish. I still very much like Frank. Wouldn't want to be inked as a Pagano type. Only 14 more games to beat Marino......
-
Frank had a better chance in OT earlier on to 'go for the win' on 4th down. And even in during the fated call, he should have went for it without taking the timeout. Everything about this debacle was not great.

As good as Kelly is playing, I trust Evan Boehm to fill in for him at C way more than anyone to fill in at LT for Castonzo. AC back in the lineup at LT is the main reason for this team's vast improvement on offense IMO. Not saying he's better than Kelly. But he's much more valuable (important) in the fact that we can replace the center position more so than LT.
Fair point, although until Kelly came along, I watched a lot of below average centre play.......and if Boehm turns out to be good or better, then I would revert to AC.

I'd have Kelly for AC...

I wasn't worried about the standings in Week 4, and I wouldn't look back on that no matter how this season turns out. I think losing winnable games is the bigger issue, by far.
Agreed. And losing a tie-able game is not great either. About 50% less bad I'd say.

Frank didn't make a decision to "throw away" anything. He decided to go for a win in a crucial situation and we didnt get it. Nothing more. If Luck throws a good pass there, maybe we win that game and the situation is even better? Then, it is a genius decision. The line cant be that fine between genius and idiocy.
Has it hurt us in the standings? Yes
Could it have helped? Yes
Its not about immediate results, or a single coaching decision. Its about setting the tone and creating a culture, very early in your coaching tenure.
So what is this tone exactly? By making this call, Leonard now makes these tackles he would have otherwised missed? When he sees a RB heading towards him, he thinks, 'Frank went for the win, I will make this tackle'? Adam thinks before he makes a game winning FG, 'I must make this, as Frank had the guts to go for the win'?
If a 'manager' has to make such decisions to set the tone for his team, it doesn't say much for his day to day leadership. This is all garbage. I don't mind him going for the win, what I do object to is this fake benefit we apparently got from it.
We see it differently, that is all.

Thanks NFC. I read the NFC.com one, but not the others. I thougth this was the actual current drafting positions if the season ended now, rather than them predicting where they would finish.

I don't bother with worrying about it. We're in the thick of it, and 6 games to decide. And one of our games is vs Texans. That is where my focus is, and Colts are rolling along...
You can dispute and debate a decision without worrying about it. I certainly am not worried about it, I just thought it was a rare bad call by Frank. No more no less. But the notion that it galvanised the dressing room is ludicrous.
Ok , Are the Jaquars as bad as they seem or they viewed as a potential trap game at home?
