  1. I was confused by the two illegal procedure calls against Brissett on Sunday.  Was it because he was clapping his hands too long?  I know quarterbacks will clap their hands to get the center to snap the ball, but he did do it continuously for several seconds.  I hope we fix this issue with getting the ball snapped, especially on the road with loud crowds.

  2. Now that the front office and coaching staff have put their full support behind AV, then I really hope that takes some pressure off of him and he'll go out and have a great game this Sunday.

If anyone can get out of this funk he's in, it's Adam.

Imagine what a great story and tribute to his greatness this will be when he overcomes the issues he's dealing with and has a successful season.  Then, he can retire at the end of the year with his head held high and it will also boost team moral even more when they see that the front office and coaching staff, and ownership will always have their back.

I'm looking forward to AV righting the ship and winning us a couple of games this season.

As I heard mentioned on 1070 this morning...if this doesn't work, then it's on the front office and staff now for deciding to keep him.

  3. That was a great play call yesterday.  When the shovel pass became a "thing" a few years back, teams started expecting it and before long it wasn't very successful and hasn't been used nearly as much the past few seasons.  Like most gadget type plays, it's all in the timing of the play call.

  4. I 100% believe that Adam is the kind of player and leader that knows better than anyone when it's time to step down.  He will not try and work through his struggles if it means the team is at risk of losing games due to his missed kicks.

The struggles go back 5 games...beyond the playoffs last year.

I was at camp this summer and saw Cole Hedlund kicking very well and my research this morning shows he is a free agent.  I feel like AV, CB, Reich and Irsay will meet this morning and we'll know something this afternoon.

I predict retirement and a signing of Hedlund.

  5. Hard fought win yesterday and it was a big divisional win, which made it even more important.

Our defense played well and limited Henry.  He had a couple of big runs, but all good RBs will have those in games...it's key to limit those and make the consistent stops to limit the good ones to 2-3 yards per carry, which we did.

Mariotta still does not impress me and I can see the Titans moving on from him after this season.  He makes bad decisions when he runs the ball and puts himself in danger.

We had some costly penalties, but were able to overcome those.  Feel so badly for Adam V. and I wonder if this was his last game.  He had the appearance of a confused and defeated man on the sideline.

The whole idea of the sudden death OT and even the current OT rules is to make OT a non desirable consequence.  The NFL and the teams would much rather a game be decided in regulation.  If teams know that, no matter what, they will get a chance in OT then there is no incentive to do the things that make the game exciting in the later stages of the 4th quarter.

I see your point and there are many game that come down to the visiting team having to decide to tie or go for the win on a late TD.  Never fails...if they tie they get criticized for being too passive and if they go for 2 and fail, then they are criticized for being too aggressive!

  7. I agree to do away with OT in the NFL under the current OT rules.  For a team to force an overtime and not potentially be given the chance of one possession is crazy.  The OT shouldn't be an instant advantage to the team winning the coin toss.  If they do score a TD, then give the other team one possession to tie it again, or go for 2 to win it.

When they changed from the sudden death OT for either team to win by scoring first, they didn't help any by adopting the current set up.  Team winning the coin toss can't win the game automatically if they kick a FG and the other team gets a possession.  Why not do the same for the team that scores a TD after winning the coin toss.  I guess they figured scoring a TD is more difficult and the team should be rewarded for that.

They should do the same at all levels and give each team an opportunity to win in OT.

  8. This is a bit off topic, but wanted to ask a couple of questions of the UK fans here.

    1.  What do you think of the new logo? (below)

    2.  For the past few years, UK uniforms have featured a checkerboard design with blue and white squares.  This seemed odd to me given the UT Vols have had the checkerboard design associated with their athletic teams for several years...especially in the end zones of the football field.

I do not care for the new logo...I'm not a UK fan, by any means, but it looks kind of cheap without much imagination.  Is it a Nike creation?  Also not a fan of the checkerboard aspect of the uniforms...also kind of unimaginative.

  9. We had nearly 2 decades with an elite QB on our roster, and we'll have to adjust to having an average to above-average QB.  Difference is we have a more complete team for our QB than we've had in a long time, and with a top OL to protect him, it makes his situation much better.

  10. Not able to read every post here, but as I was driving and listening to the game yesterday, my 13 year old said that AV should retire...he's too old.  Then he said, would the Colts cut him?

My answer was, they won't cut him and that AV is man enough to step away when he knows it's time.  He won't try and continue playing if he knows he needs to step aside.

So, this will play out over the next few weeks.  He either gets back in the groove and this was just a "bad game" or he will struggle again and then say good bye.

Have fun at the race.  I haven't been for several years.   Nascar lost me.  I used to live in Speedway and went the the Indy 500 and Brickyard every year.   Great time.

Thanks...it's my first race and I'm taking my son as a reward for making the Honor Roll last spring.  He's become a big NASCAR fan in the past year or so and I grew up watching it before they started messing with it.  But, I know it's a whole different experience to be there in person.  We have great seats in the Paddock area with a view of the whole straightaway from turn 4 to the finish line.

  12. Just watched this and I'm really excited for this season.  The past few days have been filled with questions and some doubts.  But, to look back and see how Chris Ballard made the deal for JB at the start of the 2017 season tells me he saw something in him.  Ballard could have scoured for a QB on the waiver wire, cutdowns and free agents looking for work, but instead, he made that trade.

JB had a tough 2017...had to learn an offense with no training camp to prepare and then came in and played behind a struggling OL.  But, he hung tough and learned a lot.

Now, with the 1,200+ reps with the starting unit, I believe he's fully prepared and is going to open a lot of eyes this season.

    GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Looking ahead, the pre-season wraps up with a visit to Cincinnati.  This is a very important game for a lot of our guys.  For some, it may be the last time they wear a Colts uniform.  For some, it will mean a spot on the practice squad...and for others, the game will secure a spot on the 53 man roster.

Excited to see who makes it this season to add depth to an improving roster.  Each year Ballard drafts well, signs free agents and extends current players, this roster will get tougher and tougher to make.  We haven't had that here in a very long time.
