  1. he’s inactive because he needs to be. Steichen isn’t messing around with his accountability mantra.
  2. Move the chains, protect the football, finish drives, stop the run, squeeze the pocket, force turnovers, win the special teams battle. GO BLUE.
  3. Did we get a pick for a player that wanted out? did you read the post I was responding to or just the one you responded to? I literally said in the post that Gilmore wanted out and Ballard made it work for both parties. I was telling Shute good luck getting vets in the future with the mentality of “who cares what they want.”
  4. Good luck getting any veteran players on 1-2 year deals going forward with that mentality. He wanted out and I would say more specifically wanted to go to the cowboys, so they made it work for both parties. Buckner thought about it too and Ballard talked him into staying.
  5. frustrating watching Gilmore play at such a high level for the cowboys. He would have undoubtedly made this team much better. But it was his decision to want out and Ballard respected it. It wasn’t the pick we received (used it on Hull) but coming up empty handed with the Rush pick was even more disappointing to me. I think the defensive secondary can improve dramatically, but it’s going to be a process and one that Ballard no doubt will continue to address going forward.
  6. I think we do regardless. We can’t lose to the 3 afc north teams vying for the 3 wildcard spots. Just not going to work out for us. Have to beat the Steelers.
  7. Never gave ourselves a chance out of half. Didn’t play well the entire game, but the 3rd quarter was brutal. Mistakes throughout the entire game. Missed kick/extra point, penalty on fieldgoal that led to a touchdown, muffed punts, massive big plays throughout the game. Tough loss. Learn from it and regroup. Saturday is now the game of the year.
  8. im not sure why McKenzie is still in a role here quite honestly. Needs to be accountable and benched going forward. It that’s the new model, it needs to be done.
  9. yes, I am aware. I was joking with you to at least give me credit in this thread for staying on topic versus Doug who somehow has the conversation on Matt hasselback and qb traits.
  10. at least give me credit for staying on topic…
  11. which is why I think he bailed… It was too good to be true. and he ended up being right in that regard, if that was his thinking. no way he lasted until bill retired. That’s assuming a) bill would retire (he’s not) b) they would hire him following bill’s retirement and c) McDaniels thought post Brady would be a disaster and to take the first opportunity out that he could.
  12. no sorry needed. See my response following the one you quoted.
  13. Isn’t it possible that he learned from his mistake as a super young coach to not rush into a gig without stability at qb, hence my opinion on Luck being a major factor? And I’m not sure he was going to get many opportunities following that decision. A lot changed with the Patriots over the years leading up to him taking the raiders job
  14. my position won’t change. It’s not a debate. It never was. It was just an opinion that I offered response to when questioned. As Superman says, I’m not positioning on facts. It’s purely my opinion. You should know that if I was looking to debate about it, I’m not going to throw my opinion much into the mix. Just as Ballard took this job with the idea of Andrew Luck as his qb for a decade being (in my opinion) the main reason he took this job, I think the concerns of Luck’s health/future had a major impact on McDaniels decision to back out last minute. It might not have been the only reason, but it was the one that separated from other opportunities for Ballard, and could be the deciding factor for McDaniels. Ballard wasn’t walking into a clean slate. He had a coach he was paired with, that he didn’t want. Luck was the big factor. They can both say it’s not until their face is red, but Luck was always the elephant in the room. He was the difference between a playoff win and 4/7 win seasons before and after his final season.
  15. again- I don’t buy that he was lured back for more responsibilities and a good situation as he was more convinced it was a bad idea… so much that he was willing to be a public enemy and fired by his agent. we may never know. There’s no way he stayed oc for bill bellichick over a head coach job with Andrew luck if he was confident Luck was a longterm solution. I never said it was a bad move by Ballard. It made a lot of sense at the time. It hurt Ballard, and so did luck’s departure.
