So only Flacco and Harrison remain in updated.

So Franklin is actually +$5.25m higher

Avery is a wash, no real cap affect

    SSanchez projection no change.

    So my new projections are:

    Spotrac - $18.75m

    OtC - $17.9m

so what I’m reading is that if this trade goes through for Sneed, Mo is getting cut…

I don't mean tap the brakes on acquiring him.   I mean tap the brakes on expectations about his level of production/impact when he comes over to the Colts.....or maybe any other team for that matter.

We don't have the team KC does, and the supporting players around Sneed.  Probably not the coaching staff either.  Sneed is bound to come back to earth a little if he comes here.

And if the rumor is true that Ballard is stalling on contract, that may in fact be what he is thinking, and his numbers are based upon what he thinks Sneed will do here while Sneed wants to get paid for his production in KC.

that’s fair. I’ve read a lot of chiefs comments that say that his production is legit and to look at the receivers he covered and held under 100 this year. They credit his and McDuffies coverage for a lot more of Jones success than vice versa, and are hoping he’s back on the tag. His availability has been strong and he’s been a very good zone coverage back. So I think it would be a good fit for him and improve the pass defense, and at least give options of mixing some things up (not that Bradley will, but that was an excuse this year that the players confirmed).

he could come back to earth, or he could elevate his game even more as the focal point. If he’s paired with a 2nd year corner, and it’s true that he was locking wr1’s down, then he would be game planned against. That would give the defense the possibility of shadowing him on the #1 with a safety overtop, and mixing coverages up everywhere else. Just having a guy like in the secondary could give this defensive lines an ability to take another jump in their pressure (which everyone agrees needs to be better/more consistent). It would push teams to throw towards Juju, which could elevate his game even further. That all sounds pretty valuable. IF they are in negotiations, it’s because they know what the plan would be to address other spots with what is remaining/able to be freed up and a general game plan of what a new defense is going to look like.

  3. I think he’s off a bit considering it was just a 2nd round pick that was originally rumored to be sought after. But this is the first I’ve seen of swapping 1sts with them.

That would make for an interesting situation, as Ballard would likely trade out of the first into the 2nd somewhere and get another day 2 pick out of it. Preserves the 2nd round and still keeps you in reach of potentially two good players to add.

I doubt very seriously he would do that, as there could be some really good players at 15 that would be better to wait on before trading back. And trading back from 15 to 32 is worth a lot more than just giving our 2nd round pick. But I can certainly see Ballard trading back from 15, and especially if he has given a day 2 pick up for this trade, so it’s interesting to read what the other side is thinking…

I find it hard to believe that Snead would turn down a fair from the Colts. He really doesn't have all that much leverage. If a deal doesn't get done , he has to play under the tag and he doesn't want to do that. It could be they are just fighting it out on the guarantee and whether it's a 3 or a 4 year deal. Maybe it's a done deal with just a bit left to negotiate

… or a 4 or 5 year deal. Ramsey and Ward got 5-100. He could very well be pushing to eclipse that.

Im not worried about it either.  Im addressing all the fans on here, reddit and twitter that think we should get it done no matter what.

There is a lot of that out there today.  I work from home and check these sites in my down time, this mindset is out there

I don’t think it should get done no matter the cost. And I know that it won’t. But I can’t say I know what value they are putting on him either, so I might be surprised by how much he could command from us.

This forum is the only site I am on essentially, and it’s because I’ve done the Twitter game regarding the colts and it’s nowhere near the level of conversation that happens on this forum. There is a lot of Madden players out there…

Nothing in your post addressed this but maybe he really does want too much

Its possible and hard for fans to accept that

Maybe he does, and if so is he wanting to take the risk to play for a team that has already been satisfied with the trade terms on the tag while leaving significant guaranteed money on the table? It’s possible, but I would think highly unlikely…

but I see Sneed making plays everywhere and well outside the time of it being pressure induced.

I just think Snead is good. That's the conclusion I've came to. Seen him play a lot.

He’s a very good football player and was in a great scheme/defense, especially last year.

Why we would want to “tap the breaks” on him when defensive back was clearly a weak spot last season is a strange perspective to me. It doesn’t take a lot to watch his film and see that he makes plays that our defensive backs do not. Pairing him with Kenny Moore, who plays similar but smaller, would do a lot for our defense. I can understand the argument to the cost to get him. But that’s not really for us to decide on the true value. I wouldn’t be upset about him as a Colt, especially with what we retained this offseason. Gives a lot of options finishing out the free agency period, especially with a few extensions/restructures, and a whole lot of flexibility going into the draft.

For me I care less about what we "pay" Sneed, the cap can be massaged to make it work the "capologists" can figure that out...I am far more concerned on what picks we give up.......

if it goes through, I could see Ballard trading down from 15 to make up the pick given, especially in a deep receiver class. We aren’t getting one of the top 4 guys more than likely. It would probably wait until the pick in the event someone specific fell to us.

Not in love with it, but at this point I just want to get it over, so not going to concern myself about $2-3m AAV right now. However far they are apart.

If that's who you want, go get him.

if it’s as in depth as being reported, then it’s just a matter of time and working on details. The number might not even matter as the guaranteed amount and length / other stipulations.

Right, which is why I said I am more interested in finding out what the trade compensation is than the contract in terms of if I would do the trade or not.

I’m not as concerned about the picks, because I don’t think it’ll be our 1st. And if they think he is a difference maker like Buckner has been for our defense, giving our 2nd and another up is worth it. The money does matter though. But again, if they deem him a difference maker worthy of the investment, then I think it’s going to be hard to be upset about in any way.

Adding Sneed and a difference maker at receiver in the draft would be a good offseason in my eyes, with everything done so far. And I don’t think not getting him isn’t a deal breaker for it to be a good offseason, but other moves will need to be made…
