Let’s just say this is true. That means next year your already on year 3 of rivhsrdsons rookie deal. This is most likely not true. Holder even said on the radio it wasn’t true and they are all in. Ballards time is ticking. He don’t have much more time left.

so let’s assume as much. And I agree by the way. They are all-in on Richardson and still conducted the offseason the way they did. What does that mean? That they don’t care? Or- does it mean they are convicted in how they are building? By all accounts, they attempted to get Hunter, and at least inquired about Sneed. They might have attempted to get more than those two, and weren’t successful. Does that mean they don’t care or aren’t attempting to improve the roster surrounding Richardson? Because that’s certainly how you and others portray it here. I don’t think it does. I think it shows players are reluctant to come here more than anything. They signed everyone back. We could have struggled to do even that this offseason, and where would we be?

I've lost track of the point of this convo and don't have the energy to revisit its source.  All I can say is that if I knew a player would play well almost right away at a very important position on a 4 year deal, I would take him before I would take players that really had only ceiling to their resume.

I’m not sure that has ever been Ballard based on what I have seen. Have you seen the clip of him when he was with the bears breaking down the cornerbacks available in the 2006 draft? It’s interesting. He didn’t exactly promote who he wanted nor was responsible. But it’s obvious he was indicating Devin Hester had the explosive upside and ability to produce in multiple ways versus a guy or two that was higher floor and more likely to produce immediately. They obviously took Hester and he scored on the opening kickoff of the Super Bowl 10 months later on his way to a HOF career.

This team hasn’t won crap with Ballard. I think it’s sad other fans want to mock other fans who are tired of mediocrity.  Imagine if you didn’t strive  to be better at your job. Results show they have not been great.

Nah- We’re not mocking fans who have legitimate concerns. That’s not you though. You keep repeating the same old thing. “Ballard doesn’t care.” “The season is over.” Etc etc. I understand if fans are tired of not making playoffs, I am too. However, I’m especially tired of the sky is falling commentary on here.

um, there is a third option, which is that they are better at talent evaluation than you are.

hey now. People play madden and religiously follow pff… they are more than qualified to run a multi billion dollar football franchise. Far better than these losers that have worked 70 plus hours a week for decades in the business.

I am beginning to question  the entire organizations evaluation of their current roster. They are either very bad at understanding their current roster or yeah they aren’t putting their best effort forward. There is no middle ground here.

you are just now beginning to do that?

I don't necessarily think he's the best of all time, but we're splitting hairs there. Definitely one of the best. And his last five years were probably marred by his son Chris being heavily involved; Chris was technically the GM from 2009 to 2011, and it's hard to know where Bill ended and Chris began.

Bill Polian had some flaws, and was very stubborn, otherwise my opinion of him could be even higher than it is. Either way, definitely a great all time GM.

And he'd probably be out of his depth in the modern NFL. Too rigid and stubborn, IMO.

it is splitting hairs, I agree.. but I’m bored. We need the draft tomorrow- 3 more weeks? Ugh.

I don’t think Chris was heavily involved. Maybe to argue with his dad a bit. But there’s no way he was making key decisions over his father. Like you said, he was too stubborn.

I don’t dispute he’s an all-time great. But I do dispute that if Peyton F Manning was in his prime under center these last 8 years, we wouldn’t be bickering at one another…

I'm not blaming him, 100%.   I'm not choosing to blame it on others either.

Polian had the Colts in the national media AFCCG discussion throughout each of about 10 seasons beginning each September.  Under CB, the Colts have been so....yawn....they don't even register, unless JT busts off a few lucky long runs.

I mean- you say Polian and what I see is what you mean to be Peyton Manning.

that’s my argument. The only thing I’m arguing

If the entire key to success s getting a QB, then its not rocket surgery to try to move heaven and earth to find one ASAP.

well- the owner and head coach have to be on that same page and that’s not the direction the organization chose to go… but sure, let’s put 100% blame on Chris Ballard

You’re only focused on Polian’s stay in Indy.   Polian also had his stay in Buffalo and Carolina.   Polian is the best GM by far.

mostly focused on Indy. But he still only won 1 Super Bowl. That can’t be considered the best. Sorry, I won’t budge on that. There were plenty that had better success. Belichick’s teams were far better, even when the better qb was here…

Polian is the best GM of all time.  A first ballot HoF GM.    But take a look at Polian’s last 5 years of drafting.  This is something @Superman first pointed out.  After great drafting for about 7 years Polian’s last five years were terrible.  Seriously,  look up “Colts all-time draft”.   You’ll be surprised at what you find.

I don’t think he’s the best at all. He won 1 Super Bowl with arguably the greatest qb of all time. What did his teams do against Bill Belichick with similar qb play?

So would have any new GM by now.  You're just tossing away 8 years like it was just a bad dream?

it was a bad dream. Andrew luck retiring was a nightmare!

He wasn’t here post Manning. He was fired when Peyton was released

exactly. And why? Because the year with manning on the sidelines, we couldn’t win… So they had to release manning and all of Polian’s players to start new with Andrew Luck. what was freeney’s contract- like 20% of the entire cap? lol…

we don’t know what Polian would have done without Peyton Manning. The colts could easily be elsewhere, and Peyton Manning would have still been a dominant football player. Just like he was in Denver.

Tom Brady, Michael Jordan and Manning were great, no doubt, and their greatness helped elevate their team. They also have fantastic marketing teams that make particularly egotistical fans who like to believe they are like them actually believe a large portion of their team's success stemmed only from them, and it usually results in the GM/coach of the team (Belichick, Polian, Krause) getting downplayed excessively as a result. And those marketing teams are damn good at their jobs.

Polian >> Ballard at drafting. Not really close tbh.

Ballard’s teams with Peyton Manning = same success.

that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it. You can disagree all you want. Manning has his statue outside for a reason. Polian would have lasted half as long as Ballard has without him…

I don’t think that’s the case… It’s not even Diggs being signed that has folks up in arms. It’s that the one weakness we had (defense) not being properly addressed and other teams adding offensive playmakers. That’s not a great recipe for us to succeed. People are hopeful for the Colts to succeed. Don’t think anyone is demanding a rebuild. We are just putting a LOT of stock on AR to be amazing (which I think he will) and a slam dunk draft to keep us competitive.

Hope is fleeting. Actual moves being made is tangible. We havent done much on the latter.

I’m not sure people actually know what the recipe of success is on this forum. I mean, when we say we can’t compare Ballard and Polian because of the “talent drafted that could go out there and not cost us games” as if we didn’t lose 14 games when Peyton manning was out. I can sure compare last season with our backup being a play away from a division title to 2011…

People are reactive- obviously. The games aren’t won on paper. They are won on the field, and I didn’t see Houston being light years ahead of us last season, even with our qb out for 6 of the 8 quarters we played them. As much as Diggs and Mixon could bring offensively, they could stunt the development of what they already had on offense last season… and they can bring the problems they have had at their prior teams. These aren’t moves I would expect or hope Ballard to make. I can be a little upset we didn’t do more this free agency, but I can also understand there is a plan to continue being competitive and it’s centered around #5 and 28 being healthy out there together. I’ll reserve judgment until well after the draft when we have a better picture of what our roster looks like. I’m not hopeless like some are…

If the people of Missouri won’t pay for a new stadium, where does KC relocate to?   Neighboring Kansas?    I’ll believe it when I see it.

    🤷‍♂️

I don’t know, but I’m betting there will be plans released quickly to show they are not messing around… Worked in Chicago.

Yep you're right. The seasons over. Can't wait till 2025.

Might as well tank and start over. That’s what some on here prefer I think… Tear it all down, live through a massive rebuild. This team won’t do anything anyways.

At least Indianapolis is willing to support the team. Chiefs have back to back superbowls and are looking like they might have to relocate. lol. People are strange.
