He played some good defense but just let up because of fouls.. that was brutal but from the last 5 games I watch Purdue I should've known.. but they were absolutely gonna let edey do whatever as long as the other dudes didn't hit threes. Every team had to double so edey could kick it out

Good strategy. They have the guards to do it. Take two guys and 9 fouls and limit edey to just under 40 points and keep the guards from matching his 40.

Yeah because we didn't have to double the big guy

That’s on manipulation of the foul sheet later part of the first half. Counted 3 fouls that weren’t called on clingan.

not that it would have mattered, because guard play was the difference. But Clingan didn’t hold his weight at all tonight. Neither did the rest of the boilers.

  3. Great guard play by UConn. Experience versus non experience. Purdue needs the talent at guard they are getting in this coming recruiting class, and they need the experience the young guys are getting tonight. Wish edey would have been as effective as he was at the start, but didn’t get much help.

uconn made some wild shots, which really put it out of reach.

Purdue only making 1 3 isn't going to cut it. They need to make at least 4 or 5 in this 2nd half. Only down 36-30 so it isn't over. Edey has played great. I will say this, Hurley is a big cry baby, never realized it until now. Hell, they are getting away with a lot and he still is crying. Painter hasn't complained once.

yeah I don’t like what I see. It’s a manipulation tactic, and it appears to work. But man, I’m never rewarding that as a ref. I’m making a point to shut him up.

They finally made a 3. I agree Edey is a lot better than Clingon. He is owning him.

they aren’t calling on clingon. At all. When a coach is complaining on the sideline so badly that the commentators are calling him out on it, it’s bad. Hurley has nothing to whine about, his bigs aren’t in foul trouble… they should be

I am not big on taking Corners in the 1st round, but Mitchell is one kid that has peaked my interest. I have now watched film on him, he is crafty and sly fast. If I went defense, I would take him. Having said that, we need another playmaker WR on offense to go with Pittman, Pierce, and Downs. Pierce isn't bad but we need someone that can get better separation than him.

I doubt I’ll be upset if we do take him. I’m hopeful that a few players like him are taking before 15, so we have options

IMO, AR needs all the help he can get. If Bowers is there, I would take him. If Brian Thomas is there, I would take him. Thomas is the 4th best WR in the draft only behind Marv, Malik, and Rome. Thomas may even be better than those guys on the pro level. He's tall, big, strong, with good hands.

i agree. I feel it’s Odunze if he magically falls, bowers (or the top pass rusher on their board), Thomas or a trade back for Adonai Mitchell, one of the corners, etc.

I know that Swift is making Kelce more popular, to the extent that his popularity is even relevant to what I was talking about.  The question was rhetorical.

the extent of what you were talking about was that they are painted as a one man team, to which I dispute entirely. I don’t view them as such. In fact, I don’t think Pat Mahomes wins a single Super Bowl without Travis Kelce. That’s a bold statement, but that’s how I view their offense. They removed arguably the best receiver and still won back to back without him. They wouldn’t have made the superbowl without Kelce this year. Nor would they have without Jones, Sneed and company on defense.

To the bolded.  I'm not talking about popularity of players, but do you think dating Taylor Swift and delving into the  non-football entertainment industry is helping his popularity?

im not going to even address the rest of your post, but to this point, unequivocally yes. You asking this question demonstrates how little you understand about Taylor Swift and her influence. I have two swifties in my home who couldn’t care less about football until they started dating. Her influence is bigger than you can even imagine, let alone understand.

Stats, why are they relevant?   KC is definitely planned and sold as a team being about "one guy".

Because it takes 2 and an offensive line to complete a pass let alone 5k yards worth… I imagine people realized that when Kadarius Toney was dropping passes this season. Ball hog Mahomes couldn’t catch it for him.

My comment as actually more directed at Tua and Herbert because I personally liked them better.  It would have been a risk to trade up but we could have done it.  Houston didnt want to trade up either, they wanted to pick someone at 2 and then trade for Will Anderson.

If you just sit and wait for a great qb to fall to you in the draft it may never happen before the regime is fired.

    Understood.

We scouted Herbert hard. Hindsight always sucks when it didn’t work out in your favor, but he would have likely been the guy had we pulled the trigger to trade up for one. Ballard’s belief at the time was that it was going to cost a lot when they had buckner on the table for that pick. And the 3 tech was viewed as the most important position of Eberflus defense. Again- hindsight is always fun when it works out. For Ballard, had he pulled the trigger and it not work out (Herbert has been injured a lot, for what it’s worth,) there would probably be a lot of pleased people on this board when he was fired a year or two ago.

We didnt need anything from them to make a deal.  A team moved up to number one in that draft and we were in better position than them to do it.

You missed the point. The Texans could have moved up too. They were content gambling someone wouldn’t jump them for Stroud. Think about that… And don’t say they had inside knowledge that the Panthers were going to be the one to trade and they were going to select little man. They gambled and lucked out. Anyone could have gambled big and got Stroud.
