Colts/49ers-blueprint for success
That was the blueprint for winning football.
We have heard since Pep took over about the power running game being the focus, today we saw a glimpse, I say a glimpse because when Richardson gets up to speed, it's going to be alot better, as it was Bradshaw and Richardson combined for 130 yards , with another 49 from Brown and Luck totals 179 yards!!!!
Still not sure I will be the first in line yelling........run the ball...Luck's passing total ....164
I am always dissing on the O-line, they played better game #2, then they did game #1 and played better today then they did last week (even with McGlynn at center and Linkenbach filling in at guard) but.............still aren't where they need to be, hats off to that group for the great job of run blocking (Luck was only sacked once) and to Castonzo for keeping one of the leagues best pass rushers in check.
The defense started out a little slow, but dominated the rest of the way, led by Freeman, who set a Colts record for tackles last year and played great, has taken his game up a notch, he has been lights out.....against the run, blitzing and in coverage...... Mathis had 1 1/2 sacks........ solid game for Howell, filling in for Landry
The special teams, dare I say, were outstanding, McAfee was better as well
What happened to balance? 39 rushes-27 passes, alot of those runs were at the end of the game, eating up the clock and keeping the 49ers on the sidelines.
blueprint:
179 yds rushing
1 penalty
0 turnovers
36-23 , time of possession
3rd downs 41-25%
That is going to win a lot of football games, that was an excellent team victory...still think it's kinda boring, but as I said before, the bottom line is winning football games, really doesn't matter what approach you use, as long as it is successfull...next up the Jags
