I am not a huge LeBron fan but LA is in great shape with AD and plenty of cap space. We will know more once Free Agency is over. I told you LA would get AD, I knew I would be right on that one. I thought Kuzma would be a part of it though. LA even kept Kuzma lol. When Magic offered the deal Kuzma was a part of it but Demps was dumb and didn't do the trade. Kuzma is by far better than any 4th pick they will get. There are only 3 sure picks = Zion, Ja, and RJ.

    - Again, you're still in the minute few (and LA fans) that believe those players were equal to AD. I commend Demps for not bending to LA/Lebrons nonsense. NO literally got 1 mid-level starter, and 2 average bench players for a top-5 player. Sorry, but you're lying to yourself if you think NO benefited any from this trade. However, yes, you were right about the trade.

    - What good is Kuzma when he's watching Zion eat up his minutes? There is at least some flexibility with the #4 pick that could be traded for another veteran. They could use an upgrade at SG.

    - With the way LA is being built, I'd be surprised if they even make it past the Conference Finals, let alone make it to the Finals.

That is why it is NO, they make dumb moves. U just seen the AD trade, no way I trade AD unless Kuzma is involved. Then again it is NO haha

Has nothing to do with "dumb". They obviously like what they have in Okafor and I can see why. Kuzma would be riding the bench with Zion coming in, if he were acquired. Ingram gives them a solid 3 now. Holiday, Ingram, Zion, and Okafor is solid lineup to work and build with. Plus they have some young building blocks to work with as well. They are in a pretty good spot right now.

LA is in trouble if they don't unload the salaries of Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to make room for AD. Per ESPN -  "If Davis doesn't waive his $4.1 million trade bonus, the Lakers-Pelicans trade wouldn't be allowed even if Los Angeles finds a third team for the players not included in the original deal with New Orleans."

Oh how I would love to see that trade go down in flames. F Lebron, I hope he blows both knees out and his hairline recedes to George Jefferson levels.

I'll take him at what he is now prolly the best defensive big in the nba

Not for 18M/yr.. He doesn't affect the game that much. If he were a consistent 20+/10 with his 3 blocks/g, we'd be getting a steal, but he scored 10 or less 26 times last year, and he gets his butt handed to him every time he plays Embiid and Drummond. I think people overrate his defense to compensate for his inconsistent offense.

we need a modern coach is what we need

I'm not a huge McMillan fan either, but they've done a lot to help develop Turner, and he's not much better than he was 3 years ago. He's too soft/nice. He has every bit the skill-set to be a Kevin Garnett type player (stretch 4), but he doesn't have that "dog" in him like KG had. Turner is going to be who he is for the rest of his career.

I am surprised he doesn't want to be in NO? He was tough last year.

Why would he want to be there when they are drafting Zion? I'm sure he wants to be paid and to start.

you wanna trade one of the cheapest and best defensive players in the league who is also only 23? he would also be better offensively if Nates system wasn't a dinosaur

Sabonis is cheaper and much more efficient offensively. We can't keep waiting on Turner to finally turn the corner offensively, and if he can net us a lottery pick in this draft, he's gone in my opinion.

Julius Randle is a good thought..He'd give us 20 a game and I dont think we'd have to pay the max.....maybe $18-$20 mil........We'd just move on from Thad Young..

….Myles is a great shot blocker..but he's probably never going to be a big scorer...and I'd love to get his $18 mil salary off the books..so we can go shopping on July 1

I'd like to get McDermitt's money off the books too.. 7.5M/yr is way too much for what he gave us

There is no chance of us trading Oladipo and he has almost no value due to his injury

If we're trying to get the 4th pick in the draft, its Myles Turner we're offering.

We need to get his $18 mil a year off the books so we can resign Bogdonavic and Thad Young AND pursue another free agent.

And we wont get the 4th pick in the draft for Sabonis

Ricky Rubio is better and younger than Darren Collison. Not by much. But he is.

Would you trade Turner for the 4th pick.....sign Rubio and Al Horford?

I would pack Turners bags myself, and whoever else it would take with the exception of Sabonis and Vic, for the Pacers to get that #4 pick..

I would be good with Rubio, but I'd pursue Julius Randle over Horford and Thad. Randle is 24 and averaged 21 and 9 and would work perfect as the 4 in the Pacers system with Sabonis.

If NO were to move Jrue because they want to go with the young guys. My guess is when they look at our roster they’ll be looking to fill the hole Davis left at the 5. I think they’d be looking at Turner or Sabonis.

The Spurs would need a trade to make room for Bogy. He’s a free agent so they could move DeRozan somewhere else and move in on Bogy.. It’s taken Bogy the better part of two seasons to get comfortable enough here to really play his game. I think he’s going to want to stay in Indy as long as we don’t try to low ball him. He should be our top priority IMO.

This is is going to be an interesting off season. We should have the opportunity to make some moves but there will be some tough decisions.

I don’t think we can expect Vic to come back and improve the team enough to be contenders.  I’d like to see us upgrade PG and find a scorer off the bench. That may not be enough but it’s a start.

They have a replacement in Okafor for Davis. Both him and Randle played well down the stretch while Davis was out. Randle is a guy I would potentially look at as well. With NO obviously going after Zion, Randle has already turned down his player option and is a FA. If Thad turns is no longer and option, I think Randle would be a good fill in at PF for the Pacers. 24 years old and averaged 21 and 9 playing off the bench half of the year last year.

It would be nice to unload McDermitt's contract and put that extra 7.5M/yr elsewhere.

As I said earlier in the thread, we have quite a few holes to fill on a capped budget and I wouldn't be surprised if some of these guys (Thad, Bogy, CJ) decline offers from the Pacers and move on.

I think Turay is headed in the right direction.

Once Turay is able to get himself into that true DE physique (250'ish+ lbs), he's going to be a heckuva 3 down DE for the Colts for years. He was quoted as saying that he was playing at ~235lbs last year and that's just not big enough to hold up for a DE in the Colts 4-3. The Colts bringing in Houston only helps Turay develop even more. I expect a jump this year, as he's had a year of NFL strength and conditioning, but next year I look for him to be the man and starting.

I've voiced my opinions on Lewis and I'm still a little confused on what they are doing with him,  but I still hold out hope that they eventually turn him back into a DE like he was with my Buckeyes. I still believe he'd be a perfect replacement for Sheard after this year

It probably needs to be remembered that DeAngelo is not a free agent.

    He's a restricted free agent.

Brooklyn can match any offer anybody makes.

So if Brooklyn does not sign Kyrie Irving, I don't see anyone getting Russell out of Brooklyn.

We can go over the cap to resign Young and Bogdonavic AFTER we sign a free agent and if we don't sign a major free agent, we wont have to,

Those 2 wont get a max offer from anybody and they have staring roles here as opposed to backup roles else where

We do have an option of bringing the same team back minus Tyreke Evans  and Wes Matthews.

Collison is worth more to us than he is to anyone else and I would resign Joseph under any circumstances (assuming his pay stays the same) because if his defensive ability.

We don't really have a lot of holes

Well considering NONE of them are on the roster currently, yes, the team is full of holes. I'd like to see Thad and Bogy back, but I wouldn't be surprised if both moved on. 3

And as mentioned in the above post, the McDermitt contract is a thorn in the Pacers side right now. That 7.3MIL could be used a lot better.

  11. 4 hours ago, Colts_Fan12 said:

the pacers are one of 4 teams interested in D'Angelo Russell. now this I can get behind!!!

Considering Aaron Holiday is the only PG under contract on the Pacers roster, Russell would definitely be needed. However, Bogy and Thad are also not under contract which leaves the Pacers with a bunch of holes in the roster. Vic is the only 2 guard on the roster. McDermitt getting 7.3MIL/yr doesn't help either since his production doesn't really match what he's being paid, and he would be the starter at the 3. TJ Leaf and Alize Johnson are the only PF's on the roster, but hey we look good with Turner and Sabonis at center /sarcasm.

The starting 5 could end up looking ok, but the depth is going to take a huge hit, because I doubt they can get Thad, Bogy, and Cory back for a decent price.

So, with Russell wanting in excess of 25MIL/yr, and with the huge holes the roster has, I doubt the Pacers make a strong push for him.

I just can't picture him playing a whole other season with the Pelicans again. Too many bridges burned IMO.

It's called choice and he doesn't really have one at the moment and the Pelican front office has been very transparent that they won't trade him to the Lakers. If he's traded it will be to a team in the East so they only have to see him twice a year just like the Pacers sent Paul George west.

The Knicks have everything they need to land Kyrie, KD, and AD if they wanted.

Could the Warriors actually lose this and not get their precious 3-Peat? If the Raps go up 2-0 that will make it real interesting and fun to watch. Kobe, Shaq, Horry, Fish, and Phil have to be like hell yeah haha . They want to be the last team to be remembered 3-Peating back in 2002.

The Raptors defense since game 2 of the Bucks series has been outstanding.  They have the weapons and the defense to make this an extremely hard series on GS, even with Durant.

I just want opinions. Suh is a not the impact player he once was. He still a very good veteran piece that has rotational ability. He's NOT the troublemaker he once was. So the question is if we are so high on character... Why do we not sign someone like Suh who is worth the risk and could provide excellent depth on a one year, but sign Chad Kelly? Chad Kelly broke into a teammates house during a Halloween Party. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chad-kelly-arrested-on-trespassing-charge-while-in-cowboy-costume-following-broncos-halloween-party/

It seems like a favor and that stinks. There was no reason to sign him. Kapernick is still a FA. I know he's considered a pirahaa but he had credibility. He's actually led a team to the Superbowl. Come on.

    A) Suh signed with the Bucs, so signing him is a moot point.

    B) Chad Kelly being "signed" really doesn't mean much. He more than likely won't be on the active roster for at least another year, and god forbid nothing happens to Jacoby or Andrew. Chad is on such thin ice right now that if he sneezes wrong, his papers are likely ran through the shredder.

    C) The issue with Kap is he wants to be paid tier 1 money for tier 3 performance. I think more credit should be given to that San Francisco defense, because when they broke up, Kap lost his job, to Blaine Gabbert of all people, and that team won a total of 15 games in 3 years. If Kap really wanted a job in the NFL he would have had one, but he priced himself out of every situation.

Sorry...   I’m confused.    Ward did NOT start any games for the Colts last year.  Zero starts in 6 games before getting hurt.    Could you have him confused with someone else?

My source is Ward’s profile page here on the website.

Let me state that I am by no means discounting what Autry did last year. I am thrilled that Autry played like he did and hopefully he only turns out even better this year.

You are correct and I absolutely mis-stated Ward starting. However, my opinion of Ward is still the same. Watching the first Houston game, they were playing Ward inside and Autry outside a good handful of times on passing downs. With Ward now healthy, and hopefully he stays that way, and Autry turning into the player he did, I look for those two to be the Colts main interior pass rushers on passing downs. I would like to add McCoy to the stable only to strengthen it even more, but if the Colts pass, I believe they will be fine moving forward with what they have.

Lopez is a good player. Lakers made a huge mistake not bringing him back. He would've meshed well with LeBron. Bucks will still be tough to beat next year with Giannis. Big question is, will Leonard stay or leave the Raptors? That will destroy the Raps if he leaves.

I don't think Lopez fits the style the West plays with how they run the court. He fits the slower tempo teams out here in the East. Giannis is still getting better and growing, but I think these last 4 games with Kawhi guarding him, shows how much more he has to get better. He's got to get better off the dribble and start trusting his mid-range shot. I liked that he was aggressive at attacking the rim, but as soon as he got in the paint he looked lost. If he develops a consistent 10-15 foot shot he'll be deadly. Bucks will still be good but I don't see them winning 60 again next year.

Toronto will be at best a .500 team next year if Kawhi walks. I hope he stays and helps keep the East a little stronger.

  17. 2 minutes ago, 2006Coltsbestever said:

I agree. He may be the best player in the league, I think he has an argument for it. LeBron isn't 2016 LeBron anymore, Durant is great but the Warriors are winning without him. Curry is in that discussion too but none of them play D like Leonard does.

Lebron hasn't legitimately played defense in 10 years and while I think Durant's offense is as good as it gets, Kawhi being that good on both sides is so enjoyable to watch. There is NO WAY Toronto makes it out of the first round, let alone makes it to the Finals, without Kawhi. I really hope he stays in Toronto for the next 4 or 5 years because I enjoy him being in the East.
