That ankle was at least his second "unfortunate injury" since he was a UDFA in 2016. He has a grand total of 12 touches --- 11 receptions for 147 yards, one rushing attempt for -2 yards, and one touchdown to show for his three years in the NFL. I wouldn't expect to see him make the 53-man roster, or even the practice squad.

Exactly.  Why is this nobody even being discussed?  Not even an NFL caliber player, yet some of you people actually want to waste a roster spot on Marcus Johnson.

Ballard is in a little bit of tough spot with free agency this year IMO.

On the one hand, it is understandable to have a price value for each free agent and pass when the bidding war gets past that number.

However, the team is in a position where they need to add talent especially in certain areas if they are going to take the next step with adding top end players to compete with NE, KC and others in the conference.  Having cap space is nice and all, but it doesn't mean squat when we take the field against these teams.  I just don't think we can rely solely on draft or internal development to get the necessary horses to beat the elite teams.

I also think we have to be more open about adding guys in trades (e.g. Antonio Brown) that may have bad reps from the their previous stops and do our own assessment to see if these guys could potentially hold things together long enough to contribute to a SB championship.

Bottom line, I trust Ballard will make the correct decisions with who/who not to bring in and what to pay them.  He has earned at least that much as a fan from me based teams ascension so far during his tenure here.  I am hoping that he is smart enough to modify his principles, core beliefs on roster construction to fit the situation as necessary.

No, he isn't.  He's in a position where literally every GM in the league save about 5 or so would switch places with him in a heartbeat.

Desir- I definitely bring him back. I do believe the CB position could use a standout star along side Kenny Moore, but depth is important. If Desir is my 3rd or 4th or even 5th CB, I'm a happy guy. I think Desir earned a nice payday, but I dont imagine it'll be a very large contract.

lol....Desir is WAY better than a number 5 cb.  Good Lord.

A injury free Andrew Luck in his prime. Think about that for a second. No more rehabbing the shoulder, no mental block of worrying about getting hurt, no more answering questions if he can ever play again. This is going to be his first off-season in years where he can focus on his craft and not about getting better injury wise. To throw 4600 yards and 39 tds with basically just Hilton and Ebron to throw to is another scary thought. There is no doubt in my mind Ballard will get Andrew and Reich the weapons they need to really make this offense prolific. I can't wait for September already. GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Side note, I just might be going to the chargers game next season. Crossing fingers

Nah, Luck's career is over.  You need to look past that MVP level season he just had.  Didn't you see the KC game?  Time to roll with Brissett.

In that case we need a whole new offsense and coaching staff.

One game does not negate the body of work that included making the worst line in the league a year ago into the best this season.

Come on folks, this isn’t hard.

2 more playoff performances like that, and they will.

You really think the head coach would be the fall guy in his first year?

Next time will be coordinators, next time after that will be Reich?

Is this the first year you've followed the NFL?  This scenario has happened hundreds of times in the past.

So much Luck Bashing (which happens after every loss) that it cannot be addressed in every thread. I wonder if those who complain ever go back and watch the game film to see what happened as opposed to "relying" on what you thought you saw while you were upset with the play results. Go back and look at the game and then tell me I am wrong.

Let’s look at the pass plays

    1st Series

3rd and 3 Luck hits Ebron in the stomach, and he drops the ball. (Luck’s fault Ebron DROPPED the ball?)

    2nd Series

1st and 10 the ball is batted down because KC defender grabbed Nelsons face mask (a serious penalty) shoving his head back and forced himself on top of Luck, this trend of illegal hands to the face would continue all day).

2nd and 10 batted down, again hands to fact forcing the Oline to retreat into Luck

3rd and 10 Pass to Pascal who could not get any separation and the defender knocked the ball away. (Lucks fault for lack of separation?)

    3rd Series

2nd and 16 Pass to Hilton 10 Years

3rd and 6 Pass to Ebron who instead of continuing to run stops short of the first down marker. A play that should have gone for 8 yards goes for only 5 (Luck’s Fault Ebron stopped running?)

    4th Series

    1st and 10 Pass Ebron 21 Yards

    1st and 10 Pass Inman 12 Yards

    1st and 10 Pass Ebron 4 Yards

    2nd and 6 Pass Rodgers 11 Yards

    1st and 10 Pas Inman 14 Yards

1st and 10 Luck on a nine-yard scramble (Of that’s right Luck never ran this game)

    MISSED FIELD GOAL

That is the First Half 4 possessions. Two of those ended because the TE either dropped the ball or failed to run to the first down line. One ended when the clock ran out, and we missed a FG. Only one legitimate stop by KC. Several hands to the face penalties were not called.

    2nd HALF

    1st Series

1st and 10 4 yard pass to Rodgers

2nd and 6 10 yard pass to Inman

1st and 10 Ebron DROPS 5 yard Pass

2nd and 10 Roger DROPS 9 yard Pass

3rd and 10 Pass in the flat to Rodgers are short, looks that ball slipped. Rodgers was not getting the first down even with a good pass

    2nd Series

1st and 10 20 yard pass to Inman

Note Mack with the big run called back by a holding on Smith that DID NOT OCCUR.

2nd and 17  11 yard pass to Hilton

3rd and 6 Luck was sacked. Glow allowed the DT to come straight for an uncontested sack.

    3rd Series (Following fumble recovery)

1st and 10 Bare Miss to Hilton (Several Hands to face on linemen)

2nd and 10 Strip sack. Our entire Offensive line collapsed.

    4th Series

2nd and 7 Luck Scambles for 7 yards and a 1st Down (Running Again)

1st and 10 Incomplete pass to Hilton who was covered

2nd and 15 Ball batted down (once again big push with hand to face and face mask, you can see the neck of O-line pushed back as far as possible “very dangerous”)

3rd and 15 Pass to Hilton would have been first down. Miscommunication Hilton turned inside, and Luck threw outside.

    5th Series

1st and 10 Luck threw the ball away as he was being sacked.

2nd and 10 Luck throws the ball short as he is falling backward because of Pass Rush.

    (Run for first down)

1st and 10 Throws a perfect ball to Ebron who fails to come back for the ball and the defender “catches up” if Ebron comes back to ball it is either a catch or interference. Luck could not throw the ball in front of Eborn as KC has a safety over  the top. Throw the ball out in front and its intercepted.

3rd and 9 Ball batted down. Once again blatant hands to the face to force guards backward. (I am sure Colts will file a complaint with the league)

4th and 9 Pass to Rodgers for 12 yards

1st and 10 Pass to Hilton for 29-yard Touchdown Great Throw and Catch.

    6th Series

2nd and 1 Pass to Hilton for 10 yards

1st and 10 Pass to Ebron for 4 yards

2nd and 6 Pass to Ebron for 17 yards

1st and 10 Pass to Rodgers 3 yards

2nd and 7 Pass of 25 years to Fountain who DROPPED THE BALL.

In reviewing the film, I do not see anywhere that Luck played poorly. He never held the ball too long or had a noodle arm. The Offensive line blocking in the middle G-C-G was ineffective KC interior made an immediate push. We were pretty good with blocking the edges, but Luck could not step up in the pocket which is what happened on the strip sack.  How did our G-C-G combination that had been so good suddenly fail? It is because of KC deliberately, in my opinion, decided to go hands the face once they realized the refs were not going to call the penalty. We could not stop the rush when KC could grab the facemask. This made a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

The second problem was drops. We had a least 4 Drops.

I do not know of anything else Andrew Luck could have done in this game. He was under constant pressure. His passes were on target except for the one slip. He ran for 2 first downs. He threw a TD pass to Hilton and one to Fountain that he dropped. He leads us down the field to a short FG with time expiring, and the kick was missed.

All told that is 17 points plus the TD that’s 24 and we are in the game despite the other drops and the inability to protect.

I just do not understand people complaining about Luck not playing well. That is just false.

  9. I realize that he will finish very high in the MVP voting and then diced up Houston with ease 9 days ago.

But, the fact of the matter is that he crouched when he threw this week, had some passes batted down, and shorthopped a few others.

That is more than enough for me to conclude his career is over and it's time to move on to Brissett.  I just hope Ballard, House and everyone else are as aware as we are on this message board.

    Just my philosophy here:

The o line is the perfect example.  We improved our Oline starter quality AND its depth by pick 6 Nelson and pick 37 Smith.  That relegated Haeg to the bench and Vuj gone.  We didn't improve the oline depth by picking a guy with a late 4th.

The same thing can happen with the dline, and the back field where Moore can be your 3rd or 4th guy if he's replaced by a legit starter.  And WR corps, if we get that #2, Inman looks like a solid #3 or 4.   Maybe 5th round pick Cain if not Inman.  We won't find the #2 WR that's any better than what we have beyond pick 50, IMO

How should we improve the RB depth through the draft?  Take one in the late 3rd round?  How much better will that guy be than Hines, Mack, or Wilkins?

We can also sign mid level free agents.  Vet guys that can fill in once in a while.

We don't need picks from the late 2nd back.  We need more before pick 50, and have needed more for a few years.

I don't understand.  If we pick a OL in the 4th this draft who is better than Haeg, then we've improved our depth.

When one of our starters get hurt (It happens) we have a deep hole that the 2nd string guy isnt able to fill........

I truly dont think that we will stay with 9 draft picks this year........  There really isnt 9 roster spots to fill  .......  I believe we may add 1-2 FAs that will take up a roster spots as well

    Horse trading ahead.

Sure we do.  Have you seen how many FA this team has?  Not all of them will be resigned.  Not even most of them will be resigned.

No, this is the game where Houston's luck finally runs out. I'm on various forums and the majority consider Houston to be a playoff fraud. Beat the Bills thanks to a Nathan Peterman pick 6, Alex Smith breaks his leg injury, Broncos missed field goal.....then they gifted with no call PIs against Philadelphia. I just feel like they're due to be exposed.

One of the more lackluster 11-5 teams I've watched and I'm not saying this just because they're a divisional rival. I don't see what's so scary about them.

Completely agree.  They are a 7-9 team masquerading as an 11-5 team;  tremendously flawed.

However, it'll be tough to beat them in Houston 2x in one month, especially when the second game is a playoff game.

If this game is in Indy or on a neutral field, Indy wins by double digits.  Unfortunately that is not the case.

    • Thanks 1
  13. This smells like another game where Houston gets every break and every call in front of a rabid crowd, and wins a single score contest:  i'll say Houston 27 Colts 24.

Expect to see things like a tipped pass right into a Texan defenders hands for a pick six, and a punt return that we return for a TD, but is called back by a bogus call.  Also some questionable decision making by our head coach will cost us easy points.  You know, the same way Houston won like 6 of their games this season.
