On the one hand, it is understandable to have a price value for each free agent and pass when the bidding war gets past that number. 

 

However, the team is in a position where they need to add talent especially in certain areas if they are going to take the next step with adding top end players to compete with NE, KC and others in the conference.  Having cap space is nice and all, but it doesn't mean squat when we take the field against these teams.  I just don't think we can rely solely on draft or internal development to get the necessary horses to beat the elite teams.

The Offensive line blocking in the middle G-C-G was ineffective KC interior made an immediate push. We were pretty good with blocking the edges, but Luck could not step up in the pocket which is what happened on the strip sack.  How did our G-C-G combination that had been so good suddenly fail? It is because of KC deliberately, in my opinion, decided to go hands the face once they realized the refs were not going to call the penalty. We could not stop the rush when KC could grab the facemask. This made a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

 

The second problem was drops. We had a least 4 Drops.

 

I do not know of anything else Andrew Luck could have done in this game. He was under constant pressure. His passes were on target except for the one slip. He ran for 2 first downs. He threw a TD pass to Hilton and one to Fountain that he dropped. He leads us down the field to a short FG with time expiring, and the kick was missed.

 

All told that is 17 points plus the TD that’s 24 and we are in the game despite the other drops and the inability to protect.  

 

I just do not understand people complaining about Luck not playing well. That is just false.

I realize that he will finish very high in the MVP voting and then diced up Houston with ease 9 days ago.

 

But, the fact of the matter is that he crouched when he threw this week, had some passes batted down, and shorthopped a few others. 

 

That is more than enough for me to conclude his career is over and it's time to move on to Brissett.  I just hope Ballard, House and everyone else are as aware as we are on this message board.

I don't understand.  If we pick a OL in the 4th this draft who is better than Haeg, then we've improved our depth.

Completely agree.  They are a 7-9 team masquerading as an 11-5 team;  tremendously flawed.

 

However, it'll be tough to beat them in Houston 2x in one month, especially when the second game is a playoff game.

 

If this game is in Indy or on a neutral field, Indy wins by double digits.  Unfortunately that is not the case.

This smells like another game where Houston gets every break and every call in front of a rabid crowd, and wins a single score contest:  i'll say Houston 27 Colts 24.

 

Expect to see things like a tipped pass right into a Texan defenders hands for a pick six, and a punt return that we return for a TD, but is called back by a bogus call.  Also some questionable decision making by our head coach will cost us easy points.  You know, the same way Houston won like 6 of their games this season.
