Umm...... I almost always let posts like these pass.....
as I think this board is WAY too negative.......
I would be surprised if there wasnt at least a thread a day, where someone is "PILE-DRIVING" on you because YOU are so dang NEGATIVE
Its always an ugly transaction it seems
But seriously, are you a Colts fan?? If everything is so bad..... root for the Patriots.... they win a lot of games
Part of being a fan is hoping for the best,
IMHO.... THE Colts will not be a HORRIBLE team
The Colts will NOT be a SB team..... I dont think they will make it to the playoffs... This year
But the ODDS are, with Luck, we at least will be 3-4 games with more wins than last year......
thats not a stretch of the imagination
Life is too short to look for problems..... Just sayen
I hope you have a good day!
It's bizarre. So many on here are incredibly negative and hyper-critical in regards to their own team, but they are more than happy to ignore all the holes and just can't vocalize enough optimism on mediocre, flawed, unaccomplished teams/franchises like the Houston Texans.

No No No
What do you mean "it means nothing"?
It was a stupid prediction, and anyone with half a brain knew Bond would not make the team.

I see that Stampede Blue just posted their 53 man prediction and they too agree with us.
BTW .. are you old enough to have seen Mike Curtis in his prime ? I am and he is my all-time favorite Colt defensive player.
Their predictions are off to a very rocky start as they, for some reason, though Deyshawn Bond would make the team. He was the very first cut announced.

I believe Miles Simon, g on Arizona's 1997 National Title time, is a cousin of Mike Simon, by marriage.

Many people think Travis is on the edge on the bubble. He'd need to step up in a big way. TE is easily our deepest group,..we're letting someone go who's playing in the NFL this year.
I hope not.
Hang on to the 4-5 TEs that actually belong in the NFL, and cut all but the top 4 of that garbage WR group Ballard has assembled.
I'd rather have Ross Travis on the team at TE as opposed to keeping some nobody who doesn't belong on an NFL roster like Zach Pascal or Steve Ishmael......who would only be on the team to fill out the 5 WR spots you are conventially supposed to have.

Yeah, because Ballard can control guys getting injured.
Who cares why they aren't contributing. Point is, he drafts people in the early round who can't contribute.

Someone getting injured isn’t whiffing on a draft pick. Derius Guice is also on IR with a torn ACL for the Redskins. Did they whif on him? Injuries to draft picks are part of the game. Every year a high profile draft pick goes on IR before the season starts.
Except that almost all of Ballards higher round picks get injured, or suck.
His drafting has not been impressive in 2 seasons.

yes to turay and lewis
lol....I was gonna say the same thing.
I'd switch out Turay or Lewis for a rb in a heartbeat. Turay is Basham 2.0; Lewis, if he's even any good, smells like someone who will be injured quite a bit....call him Good 2.0.
There are quite a few Ballard early round draft picks i'd like to switch out, as a matter of fact.

I'm thinking Ballard will make a move after final cutdowns. Perhaps several. Obviously, it depends on what is available, but there are some positions more needy than others. And also some positions where the shortage of good players (O-line) means a less likely pickup.
My hope:
1. RT
2. WR
3. S
4. RB
With the move to grab the CB from Green Bay, I think this position goes off the "most needed list". RT is clearly the biggest need but the most the Colts can hope for is improved depth. They still need it though. Same for the other positions.
Considering all the holes on this team, safety is a strange pick for your #3.
my list:
OT
WR
CB
LB
RB

I just realized our roster is trash. Once I got to about the mid-30s I could honestly not say with any confidence that those left deserve a roster spot. Ballard will be making a ton of waiver claims IMO.
If they keep 7 out of that pathetic group of WR, I may give up on Ballard forever. They have 3, at most, NFL caliber wide receivers. And that is being very generous. I have no clue how you are coming up with 7 being on the final roster.
Agree that this roster is trash....it really is. Its criminal how bad Ballard has allowed our WR, LB and CB groups to be. Those 3 are not even remotely near being NFL caliber position groups.

Sounds like Lewis could be out for quite a while longer, saying they hope to have him “at some point” this season.
Hopefully Leonard isn’t nagged with stuff this season, this defense is gonna need him this season.
Aaaaaand Ballard draft picks continue to pay great dividends.

I’m late to this party, but having read through the thread the vast majority of posters have said the same thing....
It’s way too early to give up on Hines. Way too soon. One poster wisely noted the story of Tikki Barber who had a terrible fumbling problem for years, not just a few ore-season games. He turned out alright.
Another rookie who had a terrible problem was Jerry Rice. Obviously not a running back, but he led all receivers his first year in drops. He turned alright as well.
Look... maybe you’re right. Maybe Hines won’t fix his problem. But the odds are he’ll get better. Most young players do. Young players get better.
No need to panic. No need to cut a rookie. At least not yet.
How many players who had fumble issues early in their careers did not turn out alright though? My guess is that number would be in the hundreds, at least.

1 season. This second season hasn’t played out yet. And you’re obviously entitled to your own opinion, even if it is a little misguided.
Actually it's misguided to say they are on the right track, as their record is 4-12 under Ballard's watch. If/when they start winning NFL regular season football games, is when anyone can come on here and crow about Chris Ballard.
-
Yep....all the Colts need are 2 WR, 2 RB, 2 OL, 2 LB, 2 CB, a run defense and pass rushers galore....and they will be right there with the division leaders.
Nice work upgrading the roster Ballard! 4-12 here we come.

It’s really
It’s really mind blowing that nfl owners don’t look through Forums to find their next GM. So many people on here could obviously do Ballard’s job better than him. Probably would be contending for a super bowl this year.
Nobody on here could do a better job. Too bad that is not even slightly relevant in discussing that Chris Ballard has done a poor job in the 2 offseasons he's been in charge of the Indianapolis Colts' roster.
-
He was definitely a miss.
Another in a growing list of Ballard draft misses.

What team are you looking at. This team has a ton more talent than what we had 2 years ago
The one that is ridiculously lacking in talent at linebacker, cornerback, wide reciever and running back.
Then the 2 groups that were supposedly addressed this offseason, the offensive and defensive lines.....still look terrible.
Face it....this is a poor team.

Good God is this team devoid of talent.
2 drafts and 2 free agency classes, Ballard has completely failed to improve the end product of this team.

It’s funny how we all have our own takes. I’m not really worried at all about the Texans. They’ve got a mobile 2nd year QB coming off an ACL. Not only that, but he’s only started 7 games in his career. Not to mention that these RPO-type QBs tend to have sophmore slumps as the league “solves” them. Plus, he’s playing behind possibly the league’s worst OL. And he’s only got one good receiving option (albeit a great one). I think Watson and the O will struggle mightily. D should be good, but I wouldn’t expect the Watt or D of old...
In those 7 games, he flew under the radar, played meaningless minutes against garbage defenses, and ran around and made plays on his own outside the structure of the offense.
What will happen when teams study his tendencies, gameplan for him, focus on him, and make him play in the pocket?
The bizarre love affair for the Houston Texans on this message board will continue for yet another year though, I see. For some reason, people on here don't give 1/10 the love to their own team, as they do to some spectacularly mediocre and completely unaccomplished random franchise located 1000 miles to the south of theirs. Every year Houston is irrationally talked up, every year they fail to deliver.

Talking up Mariota and Watson but says Luck isn't that good? Okay, Jalen. And I actually like those two, but to act like they're better than Luck? Nah.

Ballard didn't exactly knock it out of the park with his first draft, so that is definitely contributing to the depth issues:
1) Hooker - Cannot stay healthy. Better hope he pans out or this first draft is a bust.
2) Wilson - Apparently cannot even earn a starting position on one of the worst cb units in the NFL
3) Basham - Very raw and one dimensional
4) Banner - Cut before training camp even ended
I would think Ryan Grigson was responsible for these picks if I didn't know any better.

Sure if they are everyteam in the NFL. Everyteam has season ending injuries.
Should've read "Typical NFL", in my opinion.
It's why the NFL product is mediocre now. Any given time, someone goes down for the season. Every team, every season. By the time November rolls around, 1/3 of the people on the field are practice squad caliber players, because they are filling in for someone who is injured. Sad.

What does Pagano have to do with any of this?
In case you didn't know he was fired and is no longer with the team.
Bringing him up is just beating a dead horse and serves no purpose except to whine about the past.
What do you mean "what does Chuck Pagano have to do with this"? He was the coach last year, he has everything to "do with this." When one talks about improved playcalling, as several do in this thread and will throughout the season, the "improvement" would be in relation to last year's product, which Chuck Pagano was accountable for.
Who put you in charge of who can and cannot be discussed on this message board? Nobody needs your endorsement to post anything. I'll mention Pagano's name anytime I feel like it. Don't like it? I don't care....scroll past it.

Why would you not count on it when he said he was going to play? I, for one, am counting on it and will be shocked if he doesn't play.
