We can scratch your words, but one can see that he IS headed to his 1st Pro Bowl and perhaps more. Franklin has upped his game thanks to last year's experience and he is making really good plays at the highest volume.

He has surprised the heck out of me.

I mean Franklin has been a beast in there what a find by Ballard.

TE one of our strengths we go 5 deep in quality. In fact too much and someone has to go likely MAC

Linebacker room is close to elite. Franklin a tackling machine,Speed gets better each season and Leonard while not the Leonard of old currently would start for all the other 31 clubs.

Corner we are young and with Rodgers suspension and Flowers injury younger then we had anticipated. Brents has looked good in limited time we have seen, have to see what Jones/Baker/Hall may bring.

Safety weakest spot, still say we need Nick Cross in the lineup asap.

    I agree.

WR is in the process of being rebuilt, TE, CB, S, and LB is iffy.

What will be the evaluation of C, RG, and RT after the season.

      Call it whatever you wish.

Your a tough critic of our current players that’s for sure. But every year you try to improve and every position is evaluated but I wouldn’t call it a rebuild. There is at least 20 to 30 percent turnover every year on about every team.

He was not still injured. The day training camp opened Ballard said that he was healthy and that there would be no need to put him on the PUP. He had surgery in March with a recovery time of 8 weeks. 8 weeks from March is June. If he was still recovering at the first of September he should probably be looking for a different line of work.

He hid behind the “injury” to engineer this holdout because it gave him 4 extra weeks to entrench himself without facing any fines for doing so.

    💯

I’m not saying your wrong. But I also never heard Ballard say that but he could have. I’m just excited to have him back. I was 90% on Taylor’s side on this but I thought he might be faking his injury. I always thought he should  get what he deserves and he did. Could he go out and get a career ending injury now and Colts would be on the hook yes but you pay your best players and they did that.

You're looking at things at hindsight. Rookie QBs are not as far along as AR has looked and you add in losing your best player, there wasn't a lot of optimism going into the season.

I know there wasn’t but we’re beyond that now and I always knew there is a lot talent on this team and so I never believed in a rebuild . So when someone mentions one I’m like what positions do you think needs rebuilt? I’m just curious in what they think and have they looked at the whole picture.

I’m glad he’s back but with him missing a quarter of the season I’m still concerned about his play this year. If you look at his previous years it has always taken him 4-5 games to get going.  I remember his first season people wanted him cut because his “ vision” was terrible. Then around the 4th game something clicked and he became the player we all love. Same for the year after that minus the calls for him to be cut. It took him a few games to start producing. Last year I’m not going to count because of obvious reasons but if history is a predictor it’s going to take him awhile to start playing well.

I agree but he’ll be fresh and at that’s a positive.

No, he’s not rewarding JT. He’s improving the Colts now that 3 things have happened:

    1. AR showed he’s nowhere as raw as assumed

    2. JT must have shown enough in practice or other private workouts that the ankle is fully healed

    3. AFC is up for grabs

None of these were guaranteed when the drama started. I for one am thrilled. And despite the weird press conference on Thursday, I understood JT’s stance even if the media hated it.

Thank you so much for a great post.

Will, for all we know he was still injured and they we’re supposed to sign a injured player to a big contract. I mean nobody outside the organization knew if he was still injured or not it was only speculation  beyond that. So I’m not sure why you’d be angry based on that. This is extremely great news for this organization.  This is going to be fun.

If that is indeed the team's reasoning then I'm shaking my head. Taylor had performed coming into this season, we all knew his worth. If a contract offer was done in April we avoid all the ugliness of the past months and more importantly maybe turn either/both of this year's losses to wins.

Bottom line Im happy to have Taylor locked in for 3 more years. But as of right now it all seemed avoidable.

It's not that simple. Clearly the colts wanted to see the product on the field first before throwing big money. Obviously they like the steps AR has taken and their envisioning a win now mindset with the tandem of AR and JT instead of embracing a rebuild. I don't think this deal gets done if AR struggles and the colts are winless.

There never was a rebuild what based on last season with terrible coaching terrible QB play. We finally got a coach and QB now we can finally start winning what positions do you want rebuilt? I know we got some problems at CB positions but that happens with injuries and the deal with Rodgers. I guess going take us start winning this year to get ppl to forget about  last year.

And teams now will fear the run game that much more because JT has the pop Moss doesnt. It will open up passing game quite a bit

Thank you your right finally a real fan.  These other ppl aren’t fans of the team with there complaining. This offense is going to exciting to watch now.

Let's * go! They must of liked what they saw in practice lmao.

Hope some of the armchair GMs take this news well :lol:

They won’t and haven’t based on the comments on here.

I think the rules for him to be a FA say that he has to be activated for a game, not necessarily play.  So if he doesn't practice, the HC won't activate the player.

And its no big deal at this point.  I wouldn't expect any player to be activated for a game after starting the season on PUP.

If he is not activated, I don't think it means anything at this point.

He has to play in 6 games to be a free agent at the end of the season.  Otherwise. he’ll to do this all over again.

People expecting him to say anything of real substance were kidding themselves.

It looks like Taylor is going to play this year for the Colts and we know it’s in his best interest to perform well because that’s the only way he has a chance to get what he wants, which is a big second contract.

What will happen beyond this year will happen and depends on things beyond Taylor, like do they maybe tag someone like Pittman instead. So for now just let it play out and be happy the Colts have one of their best weapons back.

Exactly, very well said this my feeling  to.

About what I expected. He wasn't going to say I hate the Colts and am doing this so I can be paid, or my agent is an * and I'm thinking of firing him. He managed the media perfectly.

Putting my former journalism hat on, the questions were asked in a way that were easy to dodge. You have to ask a question in a way that makes a dodge trickier, or that the dodge itself might give a clue. They should have asked him:

    1. Are you more prone to injuring this ankle again?

    2. Did the docs tell you why it took so long to heal?

    3. Could you see yourself playing for another team next year?

    4. Could you see yourself playing for the Colts next year?

    5. Have you spoken to Chris or Jim in the past week or two?

Still, he wasn't sullen or grouchy. He seemed genuinely excited. I took that as a positive.

I took it as a positive and if he plays very well the rest of this season  I can still maybe see a contract from us a possibility. They said they would negotiate at the end of the season. So I think it’s all good and JT couldn’t say anything about it as he is still negotiation mood at this point.

Looking at where our starting 3 WR's were drafted makes you as having

    NO CLUE!

Okay, did he draft any in the first round? Did he bring in any big free agents? But okay, let's say you're right I have no clue if we draft in the top 5 will see if he drafts Marvin Harrison Jr. If he doesn't it'll prove my point because we need homerun hitters and right now we don't have that unless Pierce steps up and of course, if we go down the field and he proves me wrong. Because right now he's really shown me very little.

  16. I've been a Ballard backer all along but now I'm qustioning his decisions about our WR room which gave us nothing despite Pittmans TD run. We lack homerun hitters at that position and our running is downright terrible right now. The online was okay in the game but we cause no fear into opposiing defenses which means that can put 8 to 9 players in the box and that makes it nearly impossible to run the ball whioh killed us in this game. If that doesn't change we will be lucky to win 2 to 3 games this season which isn't neccssarly be a bad thing maybe Ballard would draft Marvin Harrison JR. But Ballard puts very little into WR's for whatever reason and it has killed us. I think it might be time for Ballard to go.
