  1. Teams find ways to hide things

Kuper reboke his ankle Back Dec 2 Vs Tampa if timeline given was accurate  and didnt play next 4 games  till Superbowl, Broncos merely announcing was scar tissue  problem causing an iritation

when in reality I posted an article when this came out that the area that plate was attached to bone and 1 of the screws going across fracture site , was inserted , well that area of fibula was shattered, some scar tissue right ?? , as using new surgeon for new procedure  I ASSUME, I Speculate that as an ankle surgeon the screws threads may have crossed the surgical site this affects the way that the far side of the fracture not being lagged , that is strongly drawn in &  held against the first part of the fractured bone for healing  if in fact this was the case,, this cane seen  during either a post op xray or what i did back in the 1980's before being  disabled, simply have an xray taken during the procedure under sterile conditions to make sure placement was correct, if not u could always go back in and fix at that time , If my assumption is correct, and yes procedures have changed  then it would have caused even with out trauma the possibility of this happening by itself as screw would sort of unwind with  time and cause bone separation , not healing  , even though this was just one of probably many screws used

Over the years the procedure has gotten easier but essentially the same  in desired process, but Again am speculating on what was done

Kuper never should of been allowed to play if this was the case & Risked career in my OPINION

clady during the bye weak was said to have undisclosed shoulder issue so didnt practice and then practice FP with shoulder injury noted on injury report v but fox who had promised a detail report of injury before the game m, well i never saw it

Absolutely agree. Even if Kupe was effective, which he was not, he should have sat out. We had a backup who started to play well. I don't understand their thinking at all.

And now Clady... This article hints that he'll be out a long time. I wonder how this affects the contract negotiation. I think the odds of Clady getting franchised just got a little higher.

  2. thats why I wish they didnt pick Brock with 2nd Pick, I am rehaashing this since day 1

they readfed 1st pick to Pats for # 29, then traded that for another second rounder and an extra 4th, :ater they needed that extra fourth to trade down to get Hillman as a change of type / speed back

If in win now mode u picjk a player that can contribute now or in a year, that player may have made the difference, u never know

Now in giving up # 29 to tamp[a , tampa picked Doug Martin, Man can Broncos use him and still could of got Wolfe as next pick,. just no broke

Broncos admitted later Martin was quite high on their board

You can't let this go, can you?  :D   Well, hindsight is 20/20.

Elway has been giving a lot of interviews this week and he finally admitted that going with Peyton was a risk. Given that, I understand the Osweiler move. I know you and I are not eye-to-eye on this issue ;)

Thanks for the free agency articles. I will read them at lunch time.

  3. Did you watch how he was burnt purely be speed by Bengals AJ Green? Not even close. Just one yr ago he was matching step to step with Steelers Mike Walace, but his yr he was 2-3 steps behind Torey Smith in the playoff. For these old veterans one yr could make a huge difference.

In NFL the best chemistry comes from making big plays and winning games. And as chaotic ans Jets are I seldom hear the problems are coming from Revis.

Every corner gets beaten sometimes. And AJ Green is a great player, and it's challenging to stop him for everyone. It also can be a product of not having good pass rush.  Bengal's O line is pretty good.

But yeah, you are making me worried. I know he is not going to play forever. We need to have a back-up plan. I just don't think it's Revis given the money he's going to get paid.

  4. I'd agree with you on those points.

I was curious because the Broncos, unlike the Colts, have everything they need to win a Super Bowl on their roster right now....and bolstering the secondary is probably their only concern, once Clady is re-signed.

But I could also half-way understand if they did pursue Revis with the idea that even at 90% of his old self...he'd all but insure another 12-win season and the AFC West crown.

It'll be interesting to see how Elway plays the Revis situation if the Jets do indeed put him out for trade.

Revis will be a very expensive solution so it will be ideal if you can find a good fit from the draft, but if there is no good prospective CB options you may have no choice. I don't think Champ can play man coverage nowadays since obviously he just no longer have the speed to keep up with young WRs now and he may be a good safety. Then you will really need another starting CB that can do 1-1 man coverage, which is very hard to find.

Another concern I have for Revis is chemistry. I don't know what kind of guy Revis is, but I'd be real careful about bringing in new high-price free agents. The locker room chemistry was very good this season, and the leadership of Champ and Peyton had a lot to do with it. I just don't see him being part of our solution.

Like I said, Champ played really well aside from the horrible game. I honestly don't know what to make of it. It's possible he will decline dramatically next season. It's happened before.  But I also don't think we should overreact. I figure getting a young player is far more preferable solution. We also don't know what we have in Omar Bolden yet.

  5. I think that's the best way to build a team too.

Do you think he'll take a run at Revis...and as a Bronco fan would you want him to?

Because let's be frank.....Elway signed Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl right now and he probably has 1 or maybe 2 season's left to do it.

Good question. I don't want to overreact to that one game Champ played poorly this year. He was great for the most part. And Chris Harris emerged as a great young starter. I feel that Revis is probably not the right answer. He is going to want a lot of money, which will give us much less flexibility in the future. Also worried about his knee. I would much rather find another Chris Harris. We have a reasonable amount of money but we have to resign Clady and he is going to be expensive. I would rather draft a corner and move Champ to safety if necessary. I think we can win with this team pretty much as is without sacrificing the future.

  6. That's a short-term repair that has consistently been proven not to work in the current climate.

Free agency is a tool, but Elway has said, "The draft has to be at our core, both financially and from a football perspective."

    Thanks for the read.

I cannot remember 1996 off season very much, but I didn't think Darrien Gordon was very good.

I've heard many times from Elway that his strategy is to build the team through the draft. Our priority should be signing our own free agents and shore up the defense through the draft. That's what I think anyway.

  7. Manning puts tremendous pressure on his teammates then gets pouty faced when they don`t do exactly what HE WAS THINKING.

Then he gets hit a few times and its over.

    Wash, Rinse...

His Huge and disproportionate $alary will begin tearing at the fabric of the team. yada yada yada

2nd ranked D and two KR`s for TD`s and, We are only a couple players away from DOING IT next year. Chuckle

Wow, how much do you hate? ;)

  8. When you need a easier schedule to make the playoff or improve the seeding you may not say the same thing :) But indeed if they can really learn the lesson they will become even stronger, and it's not like the Broncos was not as good as their record showed - Actually if we call Ravens the best team in AFC, which is very fair at this point after they essentially manhandled the Pats, Broncos almost never trailed in that game against them and most of the time took full control of the game on both sides of the ball. But when they really need that "killer's instinct" to finishe the game, like what they showed in the 2nd half of the wk6 Chargers game, they did look very rusty.

Yeah, my feeling at the beginningn of the game was that they looked really tight. I think they put a lot of pressure on themeslves. Then when a lot of things we counted on didn't work (pass rush, pass protection, Champ), they didn't adjust quickly enough. Even so, we were one freakish play away from winning the game. I kept thinking it's 1996 all over again.

  9. Regular season winning streak and the so-called "momentum" is generally useless, unless they have a shot at a perfect record, or need to play until the last week for a better seeding. If teams set the goal as winning the Super Bowl they should allow the players to take stretches for a deep January run.

It was not only useless but probably harmful. I really hope AFC west would be stronger next season. It really didn't help us to beat on the *s.

  10. Pain is a great learning experience, can put things into prospective for future years , thing is, it was a now year quite possibly  u never know about the future, injuries, draft pick wrong , myriad of things can happen, u can do all right but other teams catch up faster , u never know

Yeah, we were relatively lucky with injury department this season. I should stop expecting them to win it all and just appreciate each moment.

  11. Denver never trailed after the first quarter and led 35-28 with 40 seconds let and Baltimore had no time outs..

I think it shows great imagination to find a large spiritual motivational reason they lost...

The safety let the game tying catch get behind him..and the QB threw an OT interception....

Denver was the better team....they gave it away on 2 plays

This is exactly the mentality in which I felt the team was playing. Even when they were ranking the 3rd in the conference I was saying the young team needed to play in the wildcard round instead of having a bye week since they did not have experience dealing with a bye week and they needed a relative easier playoff game to warm up. The team came out prepared physically but was pretty flat mentally, especially on the defensive side.

Still think they missed a golden opportunity this yr but if they can really learn from the lesson they could be very dangerous next yr since unlike the old Colts team having holes here and there this Broncos team is way more complete and talented.

is more complete & talented but 16 free agents , 7 starters

    http://forums.colts.com/index.php?/topic/14856-2013-broncos-free-agents-only-about-7-key-starters-other-key-backups-as-well-total-16-fa/

, the young will learn, they need a power back to help aged Mcgahee & an MID LB  that can stop & ham with  the TE'S that have killed them all year

see  this other post  for broncos offseason needs

    http://forums.colts.com/index.php?/topic/15072-what-broncos-need-to-make-a-complete-run-window-will-be-closed-in-few-years/

Given how confident I was, and really all of Denver was, it's not surprising how it turned out in hindsight. I know they did their hardest not to buy the hype, but it was not possible.  It was heartbreaking to hear that Joel left the field in tears and Von was unable to move in the locker room for full 30 min.

I really believe in this team. With a few tweaks around the edges, they will be great. We have money and direction. And this pain will be a good thing ultimately.

  12. I think the 'window' co-incides with Manning retirement

they have some age on defense..but the offense is failry ypoung...

I think manning has 3-4 more years..

and Trindan Holliday has 10 more years!

yes PM is a great fit for Denver, who knows who will replace Manning, but unless its a top say 8 QB (or potential from a FA/draft pick) the Denver/SB contender window will close when Manning retires . . . they might still be able to make some noise . . . weak division, a division title here and here and a playoff win here and there, but they wont crack the top 3-4 teams in the AFC . . .

ran out of likes for both u guys

I'm still hanging onto Brock Osweiler hope :)  I hear Peyton has him under his wings.

But if Peyton really lasts 3-4 more years, we will probably lose him, and that's okay by me.

  13. On one level, Scouts will really like Taylor....

    He's good at most everything.

He's smart, team oriented,  makes almost no mistakes,  rarely fumbles,  willing to pass block and makes the effort,  can catch the ball out of the back-field....   on and on...

But he's mostly a between the tackles runner...  and while he moves the pile in the college game,  that won't happen nearly as often in the pro game.     He also doesn't make tacklers miss very often.   He's more likely to try and run over you then to fake you.

I love the kid.    Would love for him to be a back-up for the Colts.    I just don't want to over-spend for him and use a pick that's just way, way to high on him.    If we could steal him in the 5th or 6th round,  OK.    But otherwise.   we have many more pressing needs.

You know Stepfan pretty well, don't you?

I agree with you. He does everything pretty well esp pass protection. I would love to have him in Broncos uniform if the price is right. He's also a high mileage back. He never wows you with his sheer abilities but he will be hardworking and reliable.

  14. Broncos guard Chris Kuper needs surgery, declines Pro Bowl

impending surgery to repair what turned out to be another break in his lower left fibula.

The break is in the same area where Kuper suffered a severe left ankle dislocation during the final game of the 2011 regular season.

The initial injury, which occurred Jan. 1, 2012, in a 7-3 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, was more serious. The dislocation caused multiple breaks in the fibula and several ligament tears. During surgery a plate was inserted with several screws to help repair the damage.

Not everything about the surgery took, one reason Kuper this time will be operated on by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, N.C.

"This one is less traumatic," Kuper said. "It doesn't have all the other things wrong in there so I'm optimistic it will be a normal recovery."

First he missed the entire 2012 offseason program to recover from his ankle/leg injury.

Then after he returned for training camp, he broke his left forearm during practice, an injury that did not allow him to play guard through the first five regular-season games.

In his third game at right guard, Nov. 4 at Cincinnati, Kuper reinjured his left ankle. At the time, X-rays did not reveal a fracture. Kuper sat out the next two games and returned to play in two more games.

But in the days before the Broncos' game at Oakland, the pain in Kuper's left ankle/lower left leg inflamed and he was scratched from the Thursday night, Dec. 6 game against the Raiders.

X-rays this time revealed a break where the plate - which had been holding the fibula — was shattered.

((  Timeline , my determination -- thus suggests  he re-broke it during Tampa game DATE: Sunday, December 2  ))

Kuper missed the final 4 games of season yet  started for the Broncos playoff game.

Wow, poor Kuper. I feel for him esp after the last season's horrible injury. He really struggled in the game as did Clady who will miss Pro Bowl with (real) shoulder injury. Now I know why. We even missed Manny. I hope he can recover fully. He is a very good player and we need him back strong for the next season.

  15. Well, that was painful to watch. I-am-going-to-go-hide-in-the-cave painful. There is enough blame to go around and I don't feel like getting into that because I know they are devastated and I'm devastated for them. But I had a mini epiphany this morning even though it's cliche: losing is part of winning. They cannot be separated. We would have been better off not having won 11-games in a row and a HFA. It is not good to be in a weak division. I know the Broncos worked really hard as a team to not to believe the hype, but I think it's impossible. So perhaps it's not an accident the player who committed the biggest mistake was a second-year player.

This just underscores how hard it is to win it all. And we had pretty good health this season. Who knows about next? I appreciate hard-working players and coaches on my team. This exact thing happened in 1996-7 season.

Congrats to the Ravens. They played hard and well.

  16. That absolutely doesnt mean we dont handle the cold though

The other day it was in the negatives. The day before yesterday it was 60.

    Very erratic weather here.

Just this morning it was snowing super hard. It stopped about 10 mins ago and now theres blue skies.

That's true. So average temp is misleading, then. (This is me taking that back, partially :) )

Mountian weather is fickle. Let's hope it's not brutally cold tomorrow for everyone's sake.

  17. More yikes for the spectators, that is Lambeau Field weather. Might be more incentive for them to shout because that will be the only way they keep warm. Hot cider and chocalate, and lots of screaming plus layers, of course!!! :)

Yeah, I am sure Denver fans are softer than GB fans. For this California resident, I'm happy I'm not going tomorrow!

  18. Yes BAB, I agree Tebow got a raw deal in NY with the Jets, but he's no QB more like a TE or FB as jvan1973 & Joker suggest. Stick a fork in Tebow he's cooked IMO.

I imagine he is used to special treatments, so being in NY under Rexy might have been a surprise. He was never an NFL QB material and I don't know if he is willing to switch. My guess is he is too attached to being a QB.
