  1. I gave us an A yesterday, I can't say that A- is too far off of that. I hope some of the folks that got angry over the draft come around.

According to my copy of Pro Football Draft 2012:

    Chandler Harnish

Upside: A gritty, athletic field general, Harnish has the ability to improvise but is also coming along as a traditional passer. He's willing to stand in the pocket and take a hit, and has the athleticism and strength to make throws while absorbing contact. His decision-making is solid, and his underneath accuracy is good on the move to the left or right.

Downside: He played primary out of the shotgun and was used on a lot of spread option plays. His arm strength is marginal and his release is a little low, a problem considering his marginal size. His deep balls tend to wobble.

Bottom line: A nice West Coast prospect who belongs on an NFL roster. Harnish isn't a future starter, but is a guy who could manage an offense in a pinch.

It's just once source, but sounds good for the final pick of the draft.

  2. I think that...despite how we got there...the Manning-Luck transition has worked out almost as well as it could have. Both are undispured starters on their teams and life goes on.

Yeah, I think it would have been very difficult to have Peyton and Andrew together. The transition would have happened anyway, you might as well start with a clean slate now.

I remember Joe Montana > Steve Young transition here vividly. It was really hard. There were lots of irrational fans who hated Steve Young. Even after he became the league MVP, my boss didn't accept Steve. She said Joe would have done better. There was no logic. I didn't want Andrew to go through that kind of hostility. I wished him a better start to his career.

Steve Young handled it beautifully and never said anything negative about Joe, but me being Steve Young fan, I had difficulty accepting Joe supporters venom. Now Steve says it went as well as it could have. To me, that comment underscored the difficulty of the situation as it didn't seem like it was going well at all. But I also learned I should have been more understanding and accepting of Joe Montana's and his fans' pain. Seeing the photo of Peyton's banner coming down yesterday made me really sad.

I hope Andrew fulfills his potential in Indy and Peyton will win a couple of SB with us. That would make us all feel better.

  3. This whole scenario is just mind boggling too me. Indy traded Elway, got Manning, and ... Now a Lucky development. or unlucky.

It's really been mind-boggling to me espeically. Imagine having a husband from Denver who was in the same dorm as Elway in college, having watched cruddy Stanford team year after year after year... Now because of Peyton's injury, Andrew is going to Indy and Peyton is ours! Just unbelievable...

  4. This debate is really interesting to me. Can you be a firey competitor without being a raging *? And this is more a question for Andrew than RG3.

RG3 seems like a fun loving kid who is enjoying the spotlight. Nothing wrong that. He seems to have everything going for him, and probably would do really well for the Skins. I watched E:60 last night and in it, RG3 said "they are getting a franchise quarterback" before realizing it was too arrogant and rephrased it quickly. It made me laugh. He is confident, borderline arrogant already. Does it work for him as a player? Probably. I don't fault him for that though. He's been talked up a lot by the media. Most people will react to it this way. And so far, I haven't seen anything that I don't like from RG3 just yet.

Andrew on the other hand, shies away from the media. He doesn't watch much TV, he tries to avoid listening to what we are all saying about him. He downplays all of his accomplishments but praises his teammantes lavishingly. I am amazed how a 22-year old kid can have this much balance and wisdom. But is it a hindrance as an athlete? So far he seems to do just fine. And you guys are saying Peyton did it, so maybe it's not as hard as I think. It's just so easy to root for a guy like that. And maybe teammates responds better to him because he is this way.

A Bay Area (?) NBA reporter RIc Bucher said that Derrick Rose is unique among superstar athlete because he is balanced. He said guys like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are psychotic on and off the court.

  5. Hi all,

I'm new here. Denver is my team but I live in the Bay Area and follow Stanford football. It's been really fun for me to follow Peyton-Andrew-Elway-Tebow drama unfold. I'm so thrilled Peyton chose us and appreciate he did it in such a straightforward, classy way. I'm in love :)

I'm fully expecting a solid SB run for us this season. My logic is if we can win 8 games with Tebow, we can win 4 more with Peyton. If nothing else, I am so relieved to be able to see beautifully run pro offense again.

Broncos is interested in Brock Osweiler and Kirk Cousins as Peyton's protege. The price has to be right, obviously.

  6. Congratulations for landing Andrew Luck, Colts fans!

It's been such a pleasure following Andrew's career here in the Bay Area. He is an amazing player and even more amazing young man.

What I find really unique about him is that he mixes a lot of different characteristics that don't seem to go together usually: wisdom, humility, leadership, intensity, ferocious competitiveness, unselfish, down-to-earth. He performs his best under pressure, so I have no doubt he will be a great pro. And don't worry about his arm strength. Those who watched him in person all say he's got a VERY powerful arm.

But all of this, you'll soon be able to see for yourselves. You are in for a treat. I promise.
