Hunt was a projected edge rusher in the pros.
Adam Carriker (on the list) was projected to be a 3-4 DE or DT. As I recall, he was known for being excellent against the run, but only decent in rushing the passer. He was never projected as an "edge rusher."
-
Because one of them was an actual edge rusher who sometimes rushed from inside and the other is an interior pass rusher who sometimes rushed from outside. Arik Armstead isn't listed either.
Margus Hunt played DE in a 3-4 at SMU, yet his name is on the list. They can also be "edge rushers."
-
A 3-4 DE isn't an edge rusher.
Leonard Williams was often asked to rush from the edge; just like J.J. Watt was often asked to rush from inside. I see no reason to exclude one but not the other.
-
JJ Watt played DE at Wisconsin.
What a coincidence; Leonard Williams played DE at USC.
-
He's not an edge rusher.
He's as much of an edge rusher as J.J. Watt.
Interesting metric.

Don't you dare start getting my hopes up for Danny Shelton!
How did Washington ever give up 52 points to a FCS team (Eastern Washington)? Danny Shelton, Hau'Oli Kikaha, Shaq Thompson; they're all going to go fairly high for a PAC-12 team that stays fairly mediocre (not to mention Marcus Peters).
I'd even be happy getting John Timu late in the draft (he could do a lot better than people are expecting).

Haven't watched the last 2, but I have the top 3 guys in my top 100. They're all pretty good players.
Ha! With all the drooling over Carl Davis film you've been doing, I figured you'd take a few seconds to figure out who the guy next to him was. Louis Trinca-Pasat had a good year, and could be an excellent player.
-
They're hoping you forget...

I think everyone on this forum would love to get him in with our second round pick. The problem is that it's unlikely that he'll last until our secound round pick. If the Colts want him, Grigson would need to use our first round pick to get him (at 29 or trade back to the top of the second round where he's likely to go).
That's a great highlight video.

I bet you theTexans want their own T.Y. Hilton and pickup Dorsett in the draft. If you can't beat em then join em!
That would really be funny to me if they did that.
Don't joke about that... Phillip Dorsett could turn out to be a nightmare for us to cover...

This makes sense, Brown is the one guy I really know nothing about. He was flying under the radar here and I wasn't sure if he was a riser or a faller. Looks like he is one of the better DTs in this draft. If he doesn't fit our scheme as reality hinted though, I'd rather go for an arik armstead that is a project but a 3-4 guy.
It's true he would probably best meet his potential in a 4-3, but this man is truly scheme versitile. He could play for us as a DT or NT and be our best lineman within a year.
-
My opinion is that he'll be gone before we pick at 29. He's too good to slide to us.
-
We already traded for a RB drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft once. It was a disappointment; yet, somehow, Doug Martin has managed to be an even greater disappointment over the last two seasons. I want no part of this.
-
I got him confuzed Phillip Dorsett!!!! Backing into my corner now.......
Ha! No problem! I get names confused all the time!
And I still don't see Perryman falling to our third.
-
Why would that make him fall? He ran a 4.33 at the combine.
What!?! That would be ridiculous for a linebacker! He was closer to 4.78.
-
Your trade values are a little off (pick 29 is worth 640 / 38 is worth 520 and 105 is worth 84 for a total of 604). You also missed a sixth round pick.
As far as the players go, you grabbed Austin Shepard a little early for my taste.
For what it's worth, I think you got Michael Bennet pegged correctly as far as where he might be drafted.
I like the Jacoby Glenn and Jaquiski Tartt picks.
Overall, I'd call this a realistic draft. Not outstanding, but I could see things unfolding like this.
-
I disagree. Brown may not even make the final roster. I don't think it stops us from drafting a WR at all.
If a third round talent falls to us in the sixth, I'm sure we'll take him. I just don't think we'll go out of our way to pick a WR.
-
Don't want to be a downer (I do), but how many times did Newsome actually beat a tackle last year? I can genuinely only remember once, other times, things just opened up for him.
Being the right player for the right scheme can be a powerful thing. If he has a knack for finding himself unblocked, I count that as a skill (subterfuge at the line, timing, and knowing how to take advantage).

Vincent Brown Chargers Highlights
Something to enjoy
I like the video, but I forgot how much I hate Phillip Rivers' throwing mechanics. His half-sidarm flick is tough to watch.
-
I guess that just about closes the door on us drafting a WR. Does he have special teams experience?
-
I'm thinking Denver will pick up an OT, which is what has me worried. I know they took Sylvester Williams in the first round in 2013, not 100% sure on how he has been. It'll be 50/50 between an OT and a D-Lineman IMO. I guess Trinca Pasat has risen some, I remember him being a 6th or 7th rounder. I'll have to check some updates. Geathers would a nice guy to draft though.
Trinca-Pasat has definitely risen. RealityIsLuck is correct in saying he's closer to a fourth now. Both of my sixth round picks will probably go earlier, but they could slide to us.
Denver is tough to predict because Wade Phillips is going to want a solid NT, but they have holes on both lines. They can probably settle their O-line woes later in the draft. If they grab the last good NT, we'll probably be able to pull off my second option. If they grab an OT, there will probably be a great NT prospect available for us. In the end, I could see both Eddie Goldman AND TJ Clemmings being available at 29.
-
There's too much evidence for me to make any argument against this guy. If he falls to 29, I'd be fine with drafting him. It's not the perfect "filling our biggest need" pick, but I think it'd be worth it in the end. Consider me convinced...
-
If we needed a starting LT, I could see us using a late first-round pick to get one. Since we only need a backup RT, I think this can wait a while.
-
Not bad, both are pretty good. Just some things to note though: I don't think Goldman will be there at 29. I think a team out of Detriot, Baltimore, or Denver will pick him up. I also don't think Gathers is a 5th round pick, rather a mid 4th. And also Trinca-Pasat is a 5th or 4th round pick won't be there in the 6th. Good work though, some nice picks just a couple of streches.
Detroit is my big worry, but I think they'll end up getting Malcom Brown. And if Goldman isn't available, that's when I would start looking to trade down. I've kinda grown against drafting players in the first who won't start imediately (which is the only reason why I would be against drafting TJ Clemmings).
And I agree on Geathers. I seem to have three fourth-round picks filled in to our third, fourth, and fifth.

Ha! Makes sense. I just think we should wait until we see what team drafts him before we start to label him "edge rusher" or "not." It does seem like a lot of 3-4 teams are drafting early, though.
