  1. That was because of Tebow's limited abilities wasn't it? I was under the impression they had to change (narrow) their playbook so Tebow could run the offense.

He also couldn't do anything with Orton at the helm either. I'm not saying Orton's an all pro, but he is a solid quarterback. He's really gotten some raw deals in this league, but he's better than 50% of the starters on other teams.

  2. You forgot to mention all that great team chemistry and Kumbaya locker room.

I blame Mark Sanchez for sucking. With even a halfway decent QB leading that team, none of that stuff comes out. I have had a problem with 'The Sanchize' ever since a couple years ago, before the season started he was all 'hey!!!! This is MY team!!!' I know you want your quarterback to be confident, but he just seems like an arrogant punk. Then last year it came out he wanted to fight Rex Ryan for benching him or something like that. Mark Sanchez is not a franchise quarterback. I never would have drafted him that high. You know what they say about USC QBs.......they suck.

  3. Giants/Pats would be garner the highest ratings, but I want to see a Harbaugh v Harbaugh SB. It'd be kinda cool to see Ray Lewis go out on top. At least to me he's always seemed like a pretty good dude.....for being a Raven.

  4. \

Actually yes. I've known several and went out with several. I knew Lori years ago. Not at all like the stereotype. Like it said, they're nice and mostly into spiritual earth and mind.

Male witches not so much. More bad.

    lol male witches

Everyone knows a male witch is a wizard or warlock!!!

I'm gonna get out my Tom Brady voodoo doll again. It's worked the last few Patriots playoff games.

  5. Hey I'll come out of the metaphorical closet as well. If Peyton gets traded I'll be rooting for his new team even if he's playing the Colts. I got a lot more into football around the time he came into the league, and I'd consider myself a Peyton first fan. I feel a greater emotional bond, if that's the right terminology, with Peyton Manning than I do with a horseshoe logo.

  6. What no option for Jeff Friday???? That guy's a baller.

No but I had to vote for Mathis. Since it would make this year another 'contract' year for him, we'd get the same kind of pro bowl effort out of him again. I hate to say that about players but I think it's true. You get a lot more effort out of guys during a contract year.

  7. Why on earth is this guy a HOT COMMODITY?I just don't get it.What has he ever done, other than get crushed by us twice a year? He's .500 coach at best.

    Agreed

A lot of people think bringing in a coach that has made a name for himself, an extremely mediocre name at that, is the best candidate we could possibly bring in. I'm not a big fan of his. Yeah he was with Tennessee for a while, it's not like he ever really did much with them.

  8. I'd say we operate a 3-4 next year with the same roster we have now, with the addition of a beast of a Nose Tackle.

    Sione Pouha

Antonio 'I throw guards into their QBs' Garay

    Aubrayo Franklin

    Pat Sims

    Paul Soliai

    Shaun Rogers

Any of those guys could come in and help make the transition. Not that I think we need to change base defense. I actually prefer a 4-3 myself. What I'd do is bring in one of those guys regardless, and have them play DT in the 4-3 on running downs. Games are won and lost in the trenches and you can not underestimate the power of having a behemoth in there to clog up the run lanes. I know a lot of people like Mookie, but I think we overrate him a little. I'd like a DT rotation of Sione Pouha, Drake Nevis, Fili Moala, and maybe some rookie with a lot of potential.

  9. Hmmm, lets see I predict the Colts will go 2-14 with their only wins against divisional opponents which would be Houston and Tennessee, both home games later on in the season. Earlier on in the season the Colts will start Collins who then gets concussed, replaced by painter who fails, then Orlavsky will miraculously lead us to some wins possibly giving the Colts a shot a blowing the #1 overall pick which only two other teams the Rams and Vikings will be in contention for, primarily St. Louis but eventually the Colts will be so bad they will rightfully own the #1 pick because they will lose to Jackvonsille at Jacksonville week 17 in a not so hard fought game which many people thought they would win (yes this is a huge run-on-sentence I know). Immediately after the end of the season I also foresee the Colts getting rid of Bill and Chris Polian also. Colts season will also be filled with major injuries and the GOAT will not even have a shot at playing unfortunately.

    PS: I see dead people.

You got any lotto numbers per chance?

  10. I've resigned to the fact that we may never see Peyton Manning play another down in the NFL. All this time I've felt he could very realistically come back for the next four years and go out with 4 straight Super Bowls, but now I've just accepted the possibility that it might not be so. None of us have any idea. People can speculate all they want but in the end that's all they are. It's now down to the waiting game. If he's healthy, he starts next year, if not, he retires. Simple as that. If he retires, we draft Luck, and so begins the next decade of dominant Indianapolis Colts football. I'm a skeptic of Luck, just because I tend to follow the train of thought that anyone not named Peyton Manning is a subpar quarterback, but he'll probably be a pretty solid player and as long as we have a decent foundation, we will be a playoff contender every year. And that's all I can ask for as a fan.

  11. The thing is, he has been healthy this year. I know I've seen him suit up on more than one occasion. They wheel him out there for about 2 plays a game, he lines up in the slot, then he goes back to his bench spot. Nobody ever says anything about it, but we know he has ability. He filled in for Marvin 'Freakin' Harrison when we first got him. That's not an easy guy to fill in for. The guy's a first round draft pick and he contributed his first two years. The last two years he was hurt. I'm not even ready to put the 'Bob Sanders Glassman' tag on him yet. He had some unlucky plays where something happened that caused an injury. He's not at Bob's level yet despite what people say.

We aren't really saying Collie is injury prone, yet he had some unlucky plays last year where he took some hits to the head. Stuff happens. It's a part of football. He went his first two years without incident. To me, that shows he has the body to hold up for an NFL season. To sign him for a vet minimum, which is all he's honestly worth at this point, would not be a bad investment. Look at the three contributing, low cost, free agents we signed this year; Anderson, Brayton, and Sims. All three of those guys were first round draft picks. I assume their respective teams didn't give two dueces about their resigning. They were released without a second thought, and they all individually fit in halfway decently with our team. Gonzo would be in the same boat. We release him, and some team signs him to vet minimum, he plays slot for a season, puts up 700 yards, it looks like a solid resigning for that team. Signing someone for vet minimum is the lowest possible risk you could sign someone for. Either you get some sort of production, or you get the same kind of production you'd get out of some other scrub you signed for vet minimum. It's a low risk/high possible reward, type situation.

I'm not saying he will be resigned. I think it'll come down to him. If he wants to continue with the team he's had a subpar career with so far, or if he wants a change in scenery where he might have the opportunity to contribute to. I think he'll go for the latter, but if I'm the Colts, I would at least see if he wants to come back for vet minimum, and prove he can stay healthy and do something for the team.

  12. To anyone saying we don't have the size at DT to play NT in a 3-4.......tell that to Jay Ratliff.

Now obviously Ratliff is better than our DTs, but I think Nevis could definitely play the position if he's healthy. At DE you line up any combo of Moala, Anderson, Brayton, and Mookie. The OLBs in a 3-4 do not try to match up against WRs. It would be like telling a running back to block Jared Allen in pass protection. This just doesn't happen. When the offense goes 3 wide, you go to your Nickel package. You bring out 3 CBs, 4 down linemen, and 2 LBs. A 3-4 is only a base package. It is used typically on first down when the offense has 2 wide, a TE, an H-back, and a running back. The OLBs responsibilty in this formation is to hold up against the run while rushing the QB, or to cover the flat on their side. They guard against a running back or tight end running some little dink and dunk route, they do not try to cover a TE running down the seam.

Freeney has covered the flat before, but he's a pass rusher anyway, he'd only come in for 2nd or 3rd down. When Wade Phillips went to Houston, everyone was all 'How do they expect Mario Williams to play OLB???? He can't cover!!!!' Well he held that position just fine til he got hurt. The good thing about a 3-4, is that you can fill the positions with lesser talent. The dline just has to be strong against the run. The OLBs job is not as hard as a 4-3 DE. The ILBs do not need to be huge as people seem to be thinking. Their job is more in the line of covering TEs. They don't differ a whole lot from any of the 4-3 linebackers jobs. Play the run first, if the TE goes out for a pass, cover him. You don't need to be 260 lbs to play coverage. Angerer is underrated in coverage. He does his job well, it's just that the scheme demands him to drop 20 yards down the field, so the short dumpoff passes are easy to complete. Conner and Angerer would be fine at ILB in a 3-4. I love Wheeler. He can rush the passer, play coverage, and stop the run. He's my favorite linebacker on the team because of his versatility. Hughes is very much an unknown, but I honestly think he'd be a good 3-4 OLB. It's what he played in college so they might as well let him play his natural position.

  13. Jim Irsay simply wins. This is from his Twitter account in response to what Schefter said:

Adam, don't say I wanted to hire someone I never talked to or met..MISLEADING..come on,your better than that..get your head in the game, son!

haha get your head in the game, son! That's awesome!!

We have the league's coolest owner!!!

    .....and the league's drunkest punter

  14. It just sounds ridiculous to me that some fans are considering going to "REBUILDING" mode. Those are the boringest years in any fans lifetime! KEEP Peyton, get chances, then put Luck after he learns. Hes a good friend if Peyton so i dont think he will complain. He was part of the Peyton Camp or whatever...

Name another quarterback (besides maybe Brady) that can tear apart a defense like Peyton. Wether he is on the road or not, he will always be Peyton no matter what.

Letting Peyton go would be a big mistake. He would tear apart our defense like PICK A PART!

Dude, I feel ya. It seems like it's all I'm hearing. From Colt fans and nonColt fans.

'OMG Andrew Luck!!!!! Can't Miss Prospect!!!! Colts Take Him For Sure!!!! Future GOAT!!!! Andrew Luck > Peyton Manning!!!!'

What kind of things are these people smoking? This last season proved that Peyton Manning has in fact carried this team. Maybe not in the early part of his career, but at least for the last 5 or 6 years. We were missing one person this year that would have made the difference between 2 wins and 12 wins. If he's not healthy that's one thing, but this procedure he had done, has a very high, full recovery rate. He will be healthy next year, unless something else happens. And by 'something else' I don't mean a neck setback, I mean if he gets eaten by chupacabra.

To dump a healthy Manning, even with only about 4 years left, in favor of an unknown commodity, would be the height of stupidity. We very realistically could have both. If we used the pick on a corner, rather than Luck, we'd still be paying the corner the same amount of money. Crap, the corner we draft could get hurt and we could end up putting our new shutdown corner and his 10 million dollar contract on IR. With Luck and Peyton on the roster next year, the cap hit is no higher than it was this year with Peyton, Collins, Painter, and Orlovsky. Money is not the issue. The only issue is Luck's feelings. Wahhhhhhhhhhh I have to sit behind Peyton Manning, Wahhhhhhhhhhh. He'll get over it. He'll collect 30 million over the next four years to hold a clipboard.

This team doesn't need to be rebuilt. It needs one or two hits in the draft. At corner and maybe at WR, depending on the Wayne situation. Even without any new weapons on offense we'd still be fine as long as Peyton is under center. He could make Austin Collie, Blair White, and Taj Smith into All Pros. So get some better corners, a better defensive scheme, and let Peyton carry the offense. Or conversely, draft Andrew Luck, and laugh while you watch him try to make the jump from Stanford, where his oline gave him enough time to make a sandwich, eat it, and then find an open check down receiver, to the Colts offense, where he'd be lucky to have a full second to drop back, read the defense and make a quick throw to a well covered Blair White.

  15. Just curious about how our players graded out individually. It seems like they use some pretty in depth analysis on players.

One thing I found really interesting in the stuff I was able to dig up was, last year our main 4 cornerbacks; Hayden, Powers, Tryon, and Lacey, were all in the bottome 20 of cornerbacks as far as catches given up per dropback. I think that right there tells you all you need to know about our coverage scheme. I just do not buy the notion that all four of our CBs are that bad.

Also, Brandon Carr from the Chiefs, was rated as the second best CB last year, and he's a free agent this offseason.

Sign him new GM!!! Whoever you may be.
