  1. Yeah I’m hoping we run our new scheme the way Seattle does and Denver did when they were a 4-3 with Miller playing the SAM. Have your best pass rusher line up on the weak side (Sheard), put your big fatty in front of the center (Hankins), get yourself a good 5 technique with some length that can take on blocks (Anderson), I agree we need a better 3 technique but I thought Hunt proved to be decent inside getting after the QB. I like Simon as a SAM in a Seattle Cover 3 type defense, but in a Cover 2 he would be miscast.

Bottom line, we need some cover linebackers. Hitchens would be a great start. I’m really digging Darius Leonard in the draft and Jerome Baker looks good too. With the emergence of Farley, I think Geathers moving to WILL makes a lot of sense as well. Everything kind of depends on how the scheme is going to look. In a Seattle Cover 3, Geathers would be our Kam Chancellor, and he’d look pretty good doing it if his body holds up. I do believe that’s his best role. I hope Eberflus throws a lot of different coverage looks and we don’t just run a boring Tampa 2 all day.

From what I understand, the majority are more happy about the fact that the Colts got shunned, than they are about having him back.  I still think most don't see him as HC material.  :dunno:

But in all honesty, it's not much different than the fact that the majority of us here, (myself included)  were very happy when we thought he was going to be our coach, and then when he did what he did,  we all turned on him like he was the scum of the Earth.     Albeit, rightly so.  :)

Yeah, I was one who was completely on board with bringing him in and giving him a second chance as a HC. Boy was I wrong. But from Colts fans perspective, we were happy for him to come here and mad to see him renege. From Pats fans perspective, they were happy to see him leave and now happy to see him return. Not really a consistent logic coming from the Evil Empire, but then again, if Pats' fans didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have standards at all.

  3. What's funny is how after the SB, Pats fans couldn't wait to be rid of him because of how 'bad he was in that game' (their opinion not mine), and now they're the only ones defending him and welcoming him back into Papa Belichick's warm, loving, sleeveless hoodied arms.

  4. Yeah Geathers will play his natural, box safety role. Hitchens almost sounds like a sure thing, then again, McDaniels was a sure thing too. Personally, I believe Simon can play SAM in a limited capacity. I wouldn't want him playing TEs in man coverage, but as an edge setting, flat covering SAM I think he'd be decent. I'd bring back Bostic too. He wasn't great, but he far outplayed his contract and would be worth another year even giving him a raise. I'm gonna be beating on the 'Sign Avery Williamson' drum until free agency and we'll see how that goes, but I believe it's possible to make it work in one offseason with a combination of FAs and the draft.

  5. Why do people think Kraft sweetened McDaniels’ deal with an offer to be the Pats’ head coach when Bill retires? Wasn’t that the plan for about the last four years?

This was planned, this was deliberate, and this was sabotage.

This is what I'm starting to think. Which of course it would be, likely the only year we'll be picking in the top 5-10 range for quite a while.

Yeah it’s why I am fully on board with trading down. I wouldn’t even be picky with what teams are willing to offer. I believe the 10-15 spot will be the sweet spot. QBs will be massively overdrafted, Barkley, Fitzpatrick, Nelson, Chubb....all guys that I’m lukewarm at best about. If we can somehow con another team to give us a first next year, in addition to whatever else they’re offering, I’d jump all over that.

  7. Man I really wanted Casey Hayward a couple years ago, and even more so when I saw what the Chargers paid him. Robinson definitely had a career year in Philly, but I’m not really buying that he was anything more than a flash in the pan for a team with a tremendous pass rush.

Agreed I would hope Ballard is smart enough not to way overpay for Hitchens but I do believe he'll get more money here than what Dallas could offer.

With Simon, he def needs to play SAM where he mostly plays near the line of scrimmage and occasionally rushes the passer. I could see Ballard adding an athletic LB or two in the draft to help with coverage. Someone like Rashaan Evans early round 2 or Jerome Baker round 3 would be nice!

Yeah we’re definitely gonna need some more athleticism from our backers. I was digging Edwin Jackson’s game last year and hoping he’d make a second year jump but then he went to IR. Pagano sure seemed to like two down linebackers and I’m hoping to see us trend away from those now.

  9. I chose Robinson, but I'm starting to flip flop on signing any free agent receivers. I don't think Luck needs one, and I don't think McDaniels needs one. In the McDaniels offense, football IQ is the most important trait, and that is something you don't really need to splurge in free agency on. In Luck's case, the most important thing seems to be building up a rapport together. His favorite targets have all been guys he's grown with. Going out and getting Heyward-Bey, Nicks, and Andre Johnson did not go the way we hoped. Let's just bring in some undrafted college Lacrosse player and let him grow with Luck.

The three most logical destinations for Cousins are Cleveland, Denver and the Jets IMO. Oddly enough each of those hurts the Colts chances of trading backin the draft.

Alex Smith was always going to be moved this offseason. Teams are going to have options this offseason beyond the top of the draft. Keenum, Bridgewater, and Bradford are all up as well.

Ansah is coming into his prime and is better than CHUBB, right now most likely, usually it take pass rushers time to develop, if they even do...Barkley is the Andrew Luck of RB's...Barkley will make us dangerous this year..More than 1 way to win...I'm not even sure Chubb will turn out to be best pass rusher in draft..If we go defense in 1st , I like Edmunds and Fitzpatrick better in a trade back...

I don’t particularly want Chubb or Barkley. How’s that for a hot take? Not saying Barkley is going to bust, but there was a time Trent Richardson was regarded as the next Barry Sanders/Bo Jackson hybrid.

Not for predicting that a 4th rounder fails.

However, if you can provide proof that you predicted Dorsett would be underwhelming, then I think a cookie would be well deserved.

I hope you’re a good baker because you’re gonna have to pass out a lot of cookies.
