  1. Fifteen players on a ninety man roster, one of which was taking a personal day, another which was getting a vet rest day, and half of which probably won’t make the team, is not alarming in the slightest sense. Now that the strenuous, whip-yourself-into-shape portion of camp is winding down, I expect them to be cautious with injured players. If someone tweaks something, let him get a day off. This doesn’t mean a number of these guys would have to sit if it were game day.

  2. Pagano forcing Quincy to earn it will make him all that much better of a player. I really like the dude’s game and was one of my favorites pre draft, but he’s also young and needed to learn what it means to be a pro. Like others have said, the depth chart is written weird, and Q has been the starter throughout camp.

He's not worth that kind of money to a smart cap-minded team... but he may be to a small market team needing the boost he will deliver. Teams do stupid things when they are desperate. Ballard will not, unless he sees that he is worthy and the team needs the defensive line boost. Even with a God-awful season on the defensive line this season, I still would anticipate him to address it in next years draft, where defensive tackle is top heavy... And I happen to think the new scheme / rotating several quality players will be much improved compared to years past for us, so I would be dumbfounded if he tried to pull something. He values the draft too much to give top picks away for a position he may draft next year on a cheap contract (comparatively) anyways.

Yeah I’m really hoping for a DT in the first round next year. It’s strong on the dline. I’m a little pessimistic with this year’s dline for us but we’ll see how it goes.

  4. It came out yesterday that Aaron Donald is looking for elite QB money. The Rams have supposedly offered the highest contract for a defensive player ever, and he’s turning it down. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a generational talent, but he is not worth that kind of money. So not only would we have to trade multiple first round picks, we’d also have to break the bank to keep him otherwise risk these lengthy holdouts that he’s done two years straight. I wouldn’t want the headache that he or Bell are causing their respective teams.

Now that it's been pointed out, in only makes sense that Philly won the SB.  Follow me on this.

The most famous item that Philly is known for is the Liberty Bell.  The liberty bell was commissioned in 1752.  That's right the Eagles beat the Patriots in Superbowl 52.

It's almost too easy once you know the connection.

The answer lies in front of you, you just have to solve the riddle.

If you won't advocate betting, then I will. It's a smart way to make money if you can exploit the system. Find suspicious betting lines and bet on them, find the stories in sports as they give them away and bet them to death when you learn who is getting advocated to win a major sports championship (9-11 Pats, Hurricane Katrina Saints, Ray Lewis Retiring Ravens, Manning retiring Broncos, Cubs ending the curse, Hurricane Irma Astros, etc...). The answer lies in front of you, you just have to solve the riddle.

Jared my man, not to pile on but you’re off base on this one.

    1. The 9/11 Pats had what many consider the greatest head coach and QB of all time at the beginning of their careers, a top five defense, and playing in a city where 9/11 didn’t happen. It wasn’t divine intervention from the league to create the monster that is New England, the cards just fell that way.

    2. The Saints SB run came five years after Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane was in ‘05 and SB was in ‘10. The media did talk about it but that’s just what the media does, conjure up story lines that don’t matter.

    3. Ray Lewis’ retirement was probably used as motivation for the team,  it Joey Fluke-o played out of his mind for the first time in his life during that SB run. It’s not like there were any noteworthy controversial calls that put the Ravens in the Super Bowl. Rahim Moore wasn’t an inside job.

    4. Peyton was carried by the best defense in the league. Everyone says defense wins championships and that year was just another example.

    5. It would have made more sense for the Cubs to win it all the year before...the whole ‘Back to the Future’ thing and all. It’s not like it’s hard to guess which team is going to win the World Series anyway. Only eight teams make the postseason and realistically you pretty much know who’s gonna be in the conference championships at the beginning of the year. Cubs/Dodgers again and Astros/Red Sox this year.

    6. Last year was one of the easiest bets with baseball, almost as easy as predicting another Warriors finals win next year. They had the best roster and had the mid season trade for Verlander. That hurricane could have been on Mars and they still would have won.

Plus man, if you’re making $20 bets on SB winners when the playoffs start, you might be able to take your family out to dinner on your winnings. If you’d have picked Philly at the beginning of last year, then I’d be impressed.

  7. No.

As someone else was saying above though, Braden Smith could probably be tried there. He was Auburn’s RT, just projected to move inside, but a lot of college RTs project inside and end up being RTs anyway. I think it’s pretty much state law at this point that college RTs are to be regarded as guards in the draft. Moving Quenton to a spot he at least hasn’t played in years though, bad idea. He may even be alright there, but he may end up on a bust in Canton if he stays at LG.

  8. I believe we’ll see Walker and Leonard get most of the snaps and everything else will be a linebacker by committee situation. I think Goode and Morrison get a lot of early down work with Moore getting more third down work. The whole ‘field general’ label gets overused in my opinion. We had a ‘field general’ with D’Qwell Jackson and he wasn’t good, nor was the defense. It’ll be fun to watch this year, and there will be growing pains.

I think the longest thread I remember in my six years here was for....

    Darius Hayward-Bey.

I'm pretty sure we were over 3,000 posts...

over 75 pages.....     Irsay had promised we were signing someone big and important... I think he called him "a whale".

    Those were the days....

People like to exaggerate. Kind of like when TY said he was about to shock the world and he ended up just switching agents.

  10. Not surprised, we've had a very unsexy offseason. Signing Denico Autry and Ryan Grant and using our first round draft pick on a guard is not something to get the talking heads excited about. But sexy offseasons don't typically win championships. Ballard is building this thing right.

Me either that’s why I’m curious.

    Man I wanted Roquan :(

but im liking Leonard the more I research him.

I did too but not that early. I don’t think he’ll ever be an all around LB that can stack and shed blocks. Not that Leonard or Moore will either, but they didn’t go top ten. I’m definitely happy with Nelson, Leonard, and Braden Smith. After that it gets a little wonky with me, but I’m not beefing with Ballard yet. He makes about 50% of moves that I love, 25% that I’m lukewarm, and 25% that I don’t like. That’s a pretty good hit rate with me.

  12. Hurst and Jackson fit exactly what we want in our new defense, so I'd really like them to be 2a and 2b. We really need some LBs but there is depth throughout this draft at the position so I'd hate to see us reach. I like Darius Leonard, but he's so small I think he's going to drop quite a bit. If we can grab him and Fred Warner in the middle rounds I'd be very happy.
