  1. I would definitely like him in the first, provided we trade down. I'd expect him to go around 15th overall. I'm not digging anyone with our 3rd overall pick, but assuming we trade down there are a lot of quality options that can be had. I like the idea of trading with the Jets and then trading again to the 12-15 range. I can't make up my mind on Smith, Nelson, and Hurst, but if we came away with any of those three I'd be stoked. Nelson probably gets overdrafted a little bit by being the only lineman worthy of a top ten pick.

  2. There is not a single prospect that I want to see us draft at #3. This is a trade down draft all the way. There is no Khalil Mack, or Joe Thomas, or Jalen Ramsey that has wow’d me at this point. Doesn’t mean there won’t be a guy that ends up like them, but they will be had later, and I’d rather us accumulate more picks. It almost looks like a 2013 type of draft to me. When the best prospect is a left guard you know it’s not the strongest of draft classes.

  3. I would honestly rather have Jeff Fisher or Marvin Lewis, and I really do not want either one of those guys. I’m not sure I could suggest a name in the NFL that I would want less than this guy coaching our team.

Since no one knows how bad things are with Luck, I wouldn't be so dismissive of other QBs...

Luck's future is still in doubt....   and it will be until he proves that he's 100 percent healthy and good to go.     We're a long way from that...

Just curious NCF, in the hypothetical situation that Luck is finished, are you still a Colts fan? I know you became one because of Luck, as I did because of Peyton, so I just wanted to know if you’d stick around if he has to hang them up. Hope that’s not a situation we have to deal with for at least another decade.

Drafts like 2009 and 2013 are very bad, but even in those, there are guys who will hit. I have no right to judge this draft yet, as I have not watched any film yet, and won't until the bowl games are over. I may do a few mock drafts on first-pick in order to learn player names though and get a general feel for where everyone is going in the draft. Nelson is the early guy I want at this point, and I'd love to trade down for him if possible. It all comes down to if Ballard is intelligent enough to get max value out of a trade down WHILE still getting the guy he originally wanted. If he can do that this year a couple times in the draft while adding some picks, he'll have my respect. Hooker fell to us last year, now I want to see him use our draft capital with probably a top 5 pick at least to put together a solid draft.

Yeah I can't disagree with you on that. I'm either in favor of Nelson or Hurst, but I think both can be had between 8-12. The 2013 draft was among the worst we've seen in a while, but there were still plenty of good players drafted, Grigson just missed. There were like 20 of us here that wanted Xavier Rhodes in the first, we don't need to rehash that, but Grigson just plain missed, just as he did on a lot of his picks. I believe Ballard will be much better. He killed it in free agency, and while his draft class hasn't exactly lit it up yet, I still liked most of the picks and you really can't judge them on one year with a lame duck coach. Until he gives me reason to doubt him, I'm putting my faith in Ballard to right this ship. Love that dude.

  6. I think a lot of us want Nelson, but none of us want to draft him 3rd overall. Probably 90% of the board agrees with the trade down scenarios and the ideal position would be for us to get 2nd overall so we can trade to a QB needy team.

An an even greater mistake would be drafting McGlinchey at number 3 than drafting the superior Nelson. OTs are so often overdrafted because they are a premier position and that is exactly what that would be. Not to try to play the ‘appeal to authority’ card, but I’m an Irish fan, and Nelson is a far better prospect than McGlinchey and if an overdraft were to occur, I would prefer it to be him. Still gonna stay firmly in the ‘trade down’ camp. Nobody is really sticking out yet. I fear it’s a 2013 type of draft.

Not sure if you caught the pregame with Reggie, but he even said he's surprised the offensive play calling isn't more creative lately, especially since we have nothing to play for.

I think a guy as football smart as RW clearly sees we have no direction or creativity on offense.

But I agree with you, Chud hasn't done anything to make Jacoby's life any easier. I'd bet this O would look almost identically inept even if AL was back there. Only difference is he'd probably get us a win or two more by being superman.

Sorgi has been critical of the play calling as well. He said before the Bills game that the play calling is not helping Brissett enough and is not creative enough, I was surprised to hear him say it as hes hardly ever critical.

I mean, what would the guy that Peyton threw to or the guy that he taught how to play quarterback know about play calling? It’s not like they’re experts or anything when we’ve got people on the board that say the coaches bear no responsibility in offensive scheme. Chud is great, Pep was great, and Bruce Arians scheme had zero faults that contributed to taught Luck to play like Roethlesberger and stand in the pocket for ten minutes every pass play.

  8. His injuries aren’t good for his development, but for a third year, seventh round draft pick out of Mars Hill College, I’m not gonna fault him too hard for getting beat by Von Miller a few times. Just by staying on the team for these last three years he has surpassed expectations, and should definitely have a roster spot over Le’Raven Clark. Same for Joe Haeg; late round pick in his second year as a pro, he’s going to have growing pains. Offensive lineman take the longest time to develop so when they show actual development in their young careers, you don’t cast them aside because they get beat by the best pass rushers in the game.

  9. Anybody have an opinion on Michigan's DT, Maurice Hurst? I'm not a Michigan fan so I haven't watched him, and I've barely watched film on anyone, but everything I read about him makes him sound like he could be on the same level as Aaron Donald. Honestly, for my money, Aaron Donald IS the best defensive player in the league. He has surpassed a healthy Watt at this point. He was drafted 14th overall and I'm imagining that's around where Hurst will go, being a little undersized. Either way, I'm pretty firmly in the 'trade down' camp, and drafting Hurst looks like a solid idea based on what I've read. He jumps out in print much more than Chubb or Barkley, and as much as I believe Nelson will be a great guard, he still is just a guard.

browns are locked in at #1

it will be hard to pass the giants, they play philly, then on the road in AZ, then finish up with the redskins.  they could win the final game, but they wont be favored

i dont think we will get a big trade if we are picking third

Eli goes out with a win in his last career game, giving his big brother’s franchise the number two overall pick, which we trade for a king’s ransom, thus ensuring the next 15 years of Colts reigning over the rest of the league. Eli gets a statue next to Peyton in Indy.

  11. Trey Burton was looking pretty good in the last Philly game. He doesn’t have big numbers but he looks like the type that would be a very respectable #2 TE if given more opportunities. Can’t imagine him getting much in the way of cash this offseason so I think he’d be a solid, cheap option.
