  1. Nick Foles wins in a 52-49 shootout, Belichick and Brady retire in shame, McDaniels comes to Indy, we go on to plague the league with 10,000 years of Lombardi’s on the biomechanical arm of Andrew “The Immortal” Luck before he finally decides to hang it up and pursue his real dream, Settlers of Catan world championship, because he’s just not that passionate about football as I’ve been told.

  2. I'm with guys on Wynn. Definitely would not mind taking him in the second, but he has to play guard. There probably hasn't been a tackle that short to succeed since the 80's. I really don't want to use more than two draft picks on offensive linemen though. We've spent a decent amount lately and they just take so long to develop coming out of college that I really just want to see it all get fixed in free agency and use the draft to get someone they really like; see Wynn. Then again, I'm terrible at projecting which linemen are gonna be good. I thought Jacques McClendon was our guard of the future at one point.

  3. I really don’t see how we aren’t active in free agency. The cap space isn’t gonna spend itself. Not saying to pass out stupid contracts, but going all in on Norwell, bringing in a LB or two, and bringing in another corner doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility to me.

Interesting tactic by Allen being his own hype man.

Publicly stating you want to be to savior for the Browns franchise might be just enough for the Cleveland FA to fall in love and pull the trigger at #1.

Keep it up Josh, you might just get us a trade partner at #3.

I can hardly think of a worse way to use your number one pick, but this is Cleveland we’re talking about; the place where mediocrity goes to cease existence.

Hurst is weird. I can honestly say I am not seeing what PFF see in his tape. I've watched 2 games of his. He definitely has flashes, but I don't see him consistently creating pressure or penetration into the backfield. Hell even Mata'afa IMO is much more disruptive. He's probably a mid-first rounder, but I don't know how I would feel about taking him top 3. I don't see it right now.

(maybe I've just caught weird games of his)

Yeah I'm with you man. I was intrigued by the hype so I watched the Ohio State game and I do not see what they're seeing. Maybe they schemed him out, but he was not this unblockable force that PFF made him out to be with their grades, and I usually agree with them.

  6. Yeah I'm gonna watch it, begrudgingly, but still.....

I can't remember the last SB I didn't watch, but it was probably when I was about 6. It'd be like skipping Christmas and you can't just skip Christmas.

Are we sure this is good news? Vrabel was the finalist for the Colts job and is highly regarded in the league. I realize he's not proven, but he might be an excellent coach for all we know.

I’m taking it as good news. I believe Josh was our guy from the beginning and he chose us over the *. Vrabel was probably both of our Plan B’s. Personally he wouldn’t have even been on my radar. One year DC who presided over the worst defense in the league last year doesn’t exactly give me a ton of confidence.

Looking at that box score really shows the potential and key attributes scouts look for huh?  Again you are not a GM or scout and it is apparent.

The most important thing a quarterback should be able to do is hit his target, and Josh Allen is bad at that. Anyone can see that. It doesn’t take the completely infallible NFL scouts and GMs that have drafted guys like Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, and Blaine Gabbert in the first round to see it. The only things he is good at is evading pressure, being hard to bring down, and I’ll give him credit for having the balls to throw downfield. Other than that he’s a massive bust if he’s drafted first overall or even in the first round.

This is why you are not a GM or scout.

Now I’m not a GM or scout, but I can read some box scores and watch draftbreakdown cut ups, and this dude put up a mighty impressive 52.6 quarterback rating on the year playing against some real powerhouse teams like Gardner-Webb and Texas State. I don’t see how anybody can pass up future hall of famer Josh Allen. I mean, the guy is 6’5! That’s some real NFL ability being so tall.

  10. 1. The stampedeblue article isn’t accurate in what it would cost to get him. What is essentially a third round pick is not all it would take to get arguably the best linebacker in the game in the prime of his career.

    2. His cap hit is about 14 million for each of the next two years, and his contract expires after that. For what amounts to a 28 million dollar, two year rental, I’d have to pass.

    3. We can get three pretty good linebackers for the same cost of one elite backer. Demario Davis, Avery Williamson, and Anthony Hitchens could all be had for the same price. I’m not even opposed to bringing back Bostic on another cheap deal.

I don't know .. the OP said "current odds" ...  one site is giving the Jags 9.5 and several are givng 9 ... I would definitely consider betting on the Jags at 9.5

Missed the odds part. Spotting the Jags 9.5 I would take them. But a straight bet I’d have to go with the Pats, hate to say it. I thought about putting money on them last year at the beginning of the season to win it all. I figured I’d be hedging because if they won, I’d also win, but if they lost I’d be happy that way too. lmao

    Im thinking its very possible.

Jax has steadily improved all year... not by leaps and bounds but enough.  If it wasn't for the QB they would likely be the favorite.  With the current odds I would have to take the Jags....

I wouldn’t bet on the Jags, but they definitely have the type of defense that can lock them down. Physical man corners, good coverage linebackers, and a very strong pass rush. They have to play them the way Denver did in the AFC championship two years ago. Never rush more than four, in fact, rush three if you can get away with it. Malik Jackson was on that Denver team and was a large reason they were successful with his rush up the middle. Between him, Campbell, and Ngakoue, I think they can get enough pass rush from three, and it’s not like the Pats line is tremendous.

  13. I’m gonna hope for Demario Davis and/or Avery Williamson. Not sure about Hitchens, but the Eberflus connection probably makes him a more likely candidate. Either way, it’s the weakest position on our defense and one that Ballard needs to address in free agency. Fortunately, off ball linebackers don’t cost a whole lot so we could knock that one out and still have plenty of cash for other needs.

I think he had issues with Bellichick.  Not sure if that translates to issues with McDaniels though.

It'd make for some quality entertainment though. Former apprentice takes up arms against his master, with the aid of the master's most vociferous foe. Much more interesting than a Titans/Pats Divisional Playoff game.

  15. Absolutely. His defenses pretty much always stifle the league's better QBs. Him as DC and McDaniels as HC could actually be the Pats kryptonite. Not that I think he'd want to do it, but as a pure DC I'd love it.
