  1. Hopefully Colts say no to that offer. If that is all we can get then better to just keep Taylor away from the team for a year and let him walk.
  2. If they're dumping salary on us, then should get more than a 2nd.
  3. Now if they can get him to step into his throws, he could toss it even farther
  4. And if i was the FO, i would say so what. They don't play the same position and as mentioned they were willing to have a physical to verify status of their injuries. Plus, nothing wrong with Colts being more careful about how much they're handing out to players. What they have done in the past doesn't mean they have to always continue to do it.
  5. I don't often deal with contracts with work but if I have a contract for construction or improvements on my house, I definitely wouldn't be renegotiating it midway through. I'm pretty sure the NFL and NFLPA signed an agreement on how things work. Players can go on to work in the real world if they want but they know even $4m/year is a sweet gig compared to the rest of us. Sorry, the comment that other people's professional value doesn't dramatically decrease after the early 20s is a joke. If most of us made $4m/year, then most of us wouldn't care if our value decreased over time. We would be enjoying early retirement.
  6. I fully agree. A lot of this huffing and puffing and sulking around would end if contracts couldn't be renewed until the previous contract was up. May have to make it harder for teams to cancel out of contracts on their side of the coin as well.
  7. Good post. I wonder how many of those top 10 paid RBs got their contract before their previous contract was up. I agree Taylor probably wouldn't accept a 10 million per year average salary but if he gets it now, that first year is pretty much a free $6 million dollar raise over what he should have gotten with finishing the contract he signed. He won't think of it that way and I think the Colts would be smarter moving on if he is holding out for more than the 10-12m range.
  8. Just because it happens a lot doesn't mean a whole lot. Teams don't have to renegotiate before the contract is up.
  9. Seems fair to me. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Taylor is looking for fair.
  10. Not really. Technically Colts shouldn't have to do anything given that he is already on contract to play for $4 million. Paying him an extra 6 million just to get him to honor his contract is a steal for Taylor.
  11. If JT was only wanting 10, then i don't think there would be an issue. That is why I didn't saying paying, I said overpaying. And yes, if you keep overpaying based on positional value, then it's going to bite you in the *** later.
  12. If we overpay for a RB, there won't be money for those other pieces to come together. If you overpay for too many of the less important positions, then there won't be money for the important ones (like extending Richardson should he be successful). There is a value placed on each position based on how important it is to winning and to a lesser extent how much supply there is compared to demand, neither of which favor overpaying for Taylor. As a Colts fan, I definitely do not want them putting their money into the wrong positions.
  13. Nice video. I think it's a bit ignorant when he talks about Taylor and RBs in general being screwed over. Teams have figured out that there isn't much advantage in having the best RB as opposed to an average RB. In fact, putting too much of the cap into the RB position has proven to be a disadvantage. So is it screwing RBs over because teams want to win and winning means not tying up too much cap space into the rb? Apparently the Colts are just supposed to commit to losing so they can overpay the RB....doesn't sound fair to the rest of the team.
  14. He purposely changed numbers so he wouldn't be compared to the gun
  15. https://www.nfl.com/news/colts-rookie-qb-anthony-richardson-to-start-in-preseason-opener-vs-bills It will be nice to see how he does. Wonder how many series he will get before they put Minshew in.
  16. Now that you can purchase yourself a verified label on twitter, it's probably a bit easier to pretend you're someone of repute.
  17. The more Taylor gets, the less that is available for other players to get. I don't think it is as simple as all players are siding with Taylor. Teams that overpay players based on positional value tend to be the teams with losing records. You can't just pay your players whatever they want just to prevent a mutiny.
  18. Now is the time to buy a Taylor jersey. Probably on massive discount lol
  19. On the flip side, you pay a player that is faking an injury and other players might think why am I busting my butt off while he gets paid to sit on his.
  20. If he is making up an injury due to contract dispute then colts definitely should label it non sports related to stop paying salary imo
  21. We don't know how much jt is demanding so can't assume it would just be slightly overpaying. He is still under a contract that he signed. He isn't in a position to be demanding more money yet.
  22. Wonder what he will do when he realizes no one will give him the contract he wants. He is on his rookie contract. Teams would be dumb to renegotiate that before he finishes it
  23. Minshew has a lot less pressure to succeed. If we throw Richardson out there and he craps the bed so to speak, then he's going to have to deal with how to tune out unwanted attention while he works on improving. Pretty much dialing pressure to 10 when it's already pretty high given where he was picked in the draft. Hopefully Richardson is good enough start but worst case scenario is he isn't ready but starts anyway.
