  1. It is borderline fact. I live in New York and very rarely miss a Giants game... anyone who actually watches him and says he runs soft is lying. Ask his teammates, ask Giants fans.

You may have problems with him, injuries, etc. etc., but running soft is not something you can justify. He does not take snaps off. I consider him amongst the hardest runners in the league longside Marshawn Lynch.

Sorry, but you're just wrong here.

And you would be correct. I've also watched Bradshaw the last few years (by the way he's averaged 222 carries per season the last 3 seassons which isn't too injury prone). And yes, Bradshaw runs hard and with a burst. Good addition and here's hoping he does get 200 carries this season.

  2. Vic Ballard didnt gain 1,000 yards.....

    Ahmad Bradshaw has..twice...

    Those are the only facts...

...Ballard and Brown can back up Bradshaw......

You'll like it and they'll like it...

Yes, I also agree. Plus, I know our Oline was horrible last year, but the Giants was not outstanding either (although much better than ours) and Bradshaw, despite the much talked of injuries averaged 222 carries the last 3 seasons at 4.35 ypc (Ballard 3.9 ypc behind a bad line). All we need from Bradshaw is 160 carries this coming season (10 per game)--not to mention his pass catching ability (10.7 per catch last year for an RB is outstanding).

  3. He's been injured a few times, but his numbers the past few years would say he is still very productive (yes he's had a better Oline than we have), but he would help, especially limiting his carries. His stats the past few years are very good, despite any injuries:

221 carries last season @4.6 per carry-we haven't had anyone to have those amounts of carries with a high ypc since '06

171 carries in '11 for 3.9-yes injured but still even spread over 16 games this would be 10 carries a game--all we need now from him

276 carries in '10 for 4.5 per carry-yes we would take that for sure

Give us 160 in '13 and even at that low a number of carries he would make a difference.

  4. No we weren't. He sucked. His 1 good year in Chicago doesn't negate his terrible years here.

Agreed. His Colts years maybe totally different than his Bears years, but based solely on Colts years, he was average at best. Could be our defensive schemes then or it could be that he just plain got better and is a different CB now.

  5. My hopes are that McAwful is playing regularly...........for Houston, Tennessee, or Jacksonville :)

To question:  Thomas was signed specifically to play left guard for the Colts.  Barring any 'meltdowns' or injuries during pre-season that is where he will be.  Hugh Thornton is already better than McGlass....I am hoping we have someone on the roster other than 'he' that can play center if/when Satele and Holmes get injured...again.

That said, a 'healthy' Joe Reitz is a much better than a Seth Olsen as a backup.....by far.  The line appears a little bit better...Ya Think?   :)

    Couldn't have said it better.

  6. Great memories guys, and you all have great memories to remember all of this as well. The offense was well balanced with Mitchell running behind RT George Kunz (All-Pro) and G Robert Pratt, with Ken Mendenhall at C (very underrated but whom actually ate up Jack Lambert in the '76 play-off game). Bert Jones to Roger Carr was the most feared passing combo of the day (along with the Raiders combo of Ken Stabler to Cliff Branch). Chester at TE was as good as any. The defense was as everyone remembered, front loaded. The Sack Pack with Dutton, Barnes, Ehrman and Cook were tremendous. Not much at LB except for Stan White. DBs were always the issue, despite having a front four that could rush the passer, we gave up a lot of big plays (i.e. Ghost to the Post in OT in '77 vs. the Raiders). Great teams and great memories.

  7. Not a huge deal, honestly. Shipley was better than Satele, and probably will be solid, and probably better than a 6th rounder (guessing at this round)that we get for him. But that remains to be seen, plus if Holmes is worthy of starting, at least we got something for an UDFA.

  8. Back to the topic:

I've been a Baltimore Colts fan and Indy Colts fan (more than a fan actually-a crazed fan):

Baltimore Colts:                       Indy Colts:                         Colts Franchise:

Johnny Unitas                          Peyton Manning                Johnny Unitas

Raymond Berry                       Marvin Harrison                 Peyton Manning

Gino Marchetti                         Dwight Freeney                Raymond Berry

Lenny Moore                           Edgerrin James                 Marvin Harrison

  9. It's interesting how a player retires, is forgotten in some cases and falls from the "best ever" discussion. Marvin is one of the best WR's of all-time. Despite Rice playing on SB winners and looking extremely graceful, Marvin actually made more extremely tough catches. Yes, Rice probably is the best ever, and Marvin  may go down as a top 5, he was incredible.

  10. I've seen that argument a lot though, especially since Grigson and Pagano took over.

"Grigson likes him so he must be good".

That's just not true. I trust Grigson and Pagan as much as the next Colts fan but not blindly. They can still make a bad decision, despite being GM and HC.

I don't think they've made a bad decision drafting Werner but I think maybe they could have have gotten better value elsewhere.

Exactly. If we always thought GMs and coaches always must be making the right decision, we would be sadly mistaken. I hope they made the right one here and I'm feeling better about it more and more, but sadly, GMs and coaches (people who ''get paid to make these decsions") also made the many draft pick busts over the years.
  11. If I'm honest I'm unsure what to make of the pick, When I first woke up and looked who we had taken I felt bit deflated,I know he was rated pre-combine, but as with all draftees stock goes up and down and he'd gone down on many people's boards after the combine (the inverse to Ansah I guess). That and I favored a G (after trading back) to complete our O line overhaul.

However in the cold light of my post cup of coffee musing, I'm feeling more positive about the pick. His tape does look quite good, and I have to trust the Front Office's evaluation is going to be a heck of lot better than the majority of posters/talking heads. They've worked the guy out, studied the tape in depth etc. They did also seem genuinely stoked that he had dropped to us at 24. My major concern is going to be that he's a 4-3 DE playing 3-4 OLB but as people have pointed out we don't play a straight 3-4 and looking at his combine times he can't be accused or relying on raw speed for his pass rush success.

Overall gut feel is that it prove to be a solid pick at the least, but maybe not JJ Watt spectacular say.

Pretty much my feelings as well. I went to bed fairly disappointed, but took a new look at things, i.e. his 13 sacks hard working ethic. The other 2 picks that I thought were possible were CB X.Rhodes and WR C.Patterson. Since the emergence of Vontae plus we picked up Toler and re-signed Butler, I guess that Rhodes was not a priority and with Patterson having potential attitude/off the field issues, Werner was the pick. I might have taken a chance on being able to curtail Patterson. But the more I look at it, the less disappointed I am in the pick of Werner.
