  1. Holmes would be playing at RG for Link, not RT... I was referring to him getting the start rather than going back to McGlynn.

Problem seems to have been solved by the team bringing up Xavier Nixon from the PS.
  2. We have Rainey and Rogers that we can develop over the next 4 weeks and they have outstanding athletic ability. Irsay, Pagano, and Griggs do not want Luck running much so it limits what an OC can do. I do believe we have to chip the DEs or Rush LBs to help out our tackles. Fleener and Havili could be used to chip the outside DEs and DB/Trent would have to pick up people the guards miss to give Luck more time.

  3. Orrrrrrrr bring in Holmes? We can only hope :goodluck:

Holmes does not have the versatility to play T. If Cherilus went out Reitz would have to move to RT and it seems the coaches only trust him at LT or LG.

  4. Maybe we should teach Mario Harvey more offensive plays. He is solid on STs but used very little in the base defense. He was used some last year as a blocking back in short yardage and he nullified a blitizing Titans player that probably would haved tackled DB for a loss on the Colts only TD. Our OL needs help and players with power like Mario could be used to chip DEs, rush LBs and penetrating DTs to give Luck that extra second to find a target.

  5. Coach Pagano in his press conference on Colts.com said we would use the combination of receivers that gives us the best chance of winning. The statement was made in reference to a question about DHB going forward.

Hopefully this means Brazil, Rogers and Rainey will see time on offense. Rogers and Rainey both have explosive ability that needs to be tapped.

  6. Wonder if Toler would be ready for next Sunday. However Vaughn played heck of a game...2 picks... C'mon, I thought hell would freeze earlier.

In Pagano's press conference he said Toler and Gordy are both expected back to practice on Wednesday so we will see.

  7. I have not seen an update for injuries on Sunday but Stampede Blue is reporting that Boom Herron is out for the season and RJF is out 2-4 weeks. Looks like Hughes will get another chance and Rainey must learn plays as a RB on offense.

  8. I just wonder if part of this is because of the lack of offensive production in the first half.  When you go into the half down by 20+ points, you know what the opponent is doing to you, and you know what your offense HAS to do to get back in the game.  It's almost as if the adjustment is just a default setting.  If you go into the half tied or close, then there is still quite a bit of strategery needed.  Wether it's to gamble for a big play, or stay conservative waiting for a break or whatever, I believe there are far more variables left in a game that is close at the half.  So the adjustments are maybe "obvious" when we are down 20+ points.  At the same time, how does our offense score in situations like this after the half?  Blows my mind!  Of course, that has stopped happening too.  As I write this, it only makes me think more and more the problem isn't the defense at all.  I'm sure

some of you more intelligent fans see this as obvious.  I'm doing the best I can. LOL :D

In my opinion the defense does not have an excuse. We have had several games when the opposition has scored on the first drive putting our offense in a hole to start the game. Defense should be committed to holding an NFL offense under 20 points a whole game let alone in a half. Redding says it is their goal to defend every blade of grass.

  9. Then you have alot more missed tackles because its close to impossible to try to catch someone like CJ Spiller or a Lesean Mccoy by his feet because they are alot quicker then someone such as Trent Richardson whos more of a power runner

One option would be to blitz and catch them in the backfield before they get started but that requires a dominant front three that requires double teams and our three DTs do not require double teams very often.
  10. For real it's on the players. We have potential to be a great defense just look at the broncos game. Idk all of moving pieces came in this year so it could have something to do with it. Continuity plays a much larger role than people think

Angerer was the only one who missed all of the OTAs and Landry missed all but the mandatory OTAs. Angerer was injured but Landry should have made all OTAs. All the other starters practiced from the beginning. Angerer did play some last year so he should have known all the defensive calls. We have the same DC and same playbook. Franklin and Francois had both played for Manusky before. There are fewer defensive plays than offensive plays and so defense usually becomes a cohesive unit faster than offense. The only excuse I see for the poor play would be the injuries. Even with the injuries we have not lost a defensive starter to IR like the offense. I thought this defense was going to be close to the monster we were looking for but I was counting on Chapman dominating at NT and he does not even start. I'm still not sure we can stop crossing patterns. We definitely need another pass rusher opposite Mathis.
  11. Manusky was the DC at SD and SF. Both teams let him go and it seems they did not like the performance of his defenses. I blame the players also but it seems strange that the defense plays badly in the first half and makes adjustments to play better in the second half. The defense should be better prepared to play in the first half. The players in some cases seem out of position and confused. All of the starters are veterans and have experience in this defense so there should not be that much confusion.

  12. I have coached kids for 25 years and taught them to aim a helmet at the ball and lead with the shoulder into the body. This helped to create fumbles and placed a defender in a tackling position where he could wrap the ball carier. The way NFL rules are now you can not do that. It seems a 180 lb cb facing someone like Megatron becomes defenseless. The best option now seems to lead with a shoulder to the knees which may cause more knee injuries. Maybe Landry should attack the lower body more.

  13. he did get a penalty for a blow to the head of a defenseless receiver. Maybe the guy that tweeted this got it mixed up?

    edit: that was actually Butler.

Yes it was called on Landry but Butler made the hit. Butler was to me just as defenseless as the receiver was. The play happened so fast that I think the refs did not get a good look at it. Butler lead with his shoulder. The league seems to be eliminating aggressive defense.

  14.

The #Texans' Antonio Smith, #Colts' LaRon Landry and #Raiders' Sio Moore all were fined $15,750 for roughing the passer.

    I don't remember this.

He hit the qb and was flagged then walked away shaking his head. Replay seemed to show him hitting the qb with his arms and shoulder but it was after the ball was thrown. I did not feel a penalty was warranted but the announcers said he had lead with his head. It just did not appear to me on the replay that that was the case.

  15. Ding Ding Ding! There is the answer!

Lets tear down LOS and build an outside stadium?

Since LOS can be opened we could treat it like an outside stadium. It might be more expensive but grass could be grown in the LOS.
