  1. Landry is terrible, the next time he takes the correct angle to the ball carrier, will be his first. I really don't see how (C. Anderson, Brown or even MacDonald) could produce any less. Landry, he brings nothing to the table, huge mistake signing this guy, can't play the run and can't cover the pass. How could our backups, be any worse? I am sick of watching this guy fly past the ball carrier.

Agreed. I was excited when we first signed him because of his speed but he can't seem to play either safety position.
  2. We don't wanna give Rogers up so we kept him on the 53. I would assume that if there are no injuries that Rogers and Whalen will be both be switching back and forth between inactives on occasion.

Whalen gets nod over Rogers because of special teams.
  3. I would like help with some confusion about the roster. Zack Kerr and Kameron Jackson are not listed even though it was reported that they were signed. If they are signed then the roster would show 92 players and only 90 should show. Did the team cut 2 additional players or were Kerr and Jackson not signed?

  4. I had just read a thread about DHB and his play/attitude since he lost his starting WR job. Was also reading a couple few threads on our corners and safety play recently. Ding! Pipe dream? Probably. Could DHB at 220 lbs. be a good corner or safety? Could revive his career. It has happened before in the NFL.

He gets hurt too often for the hitting needed on defense.
  5. In this year's past draft, the players taken in and around the Colts' pick at 24th, which will likely be close to the upcoming draft's placement, are ....

    21. Tyler Eifert TE

    22.  Desmond Trufant CB

    23.  Sharrif Floyd DT

    24.  Bjorn Werner DE/OLB

    25.  Xavier Rhodes CB

    26.  Datone Jones DE

    27,  DeAndre Hopkins WR

Granted that I do not follow other teams close enough to know exactly how well and impactful any of these players have been in 2013, but Trent Richardson, although not doing so well from an average per carry perspective, is a player that when he is on the field is having to be accounted for by opposing defenses, he is quite good at pass blocking, and he is an effective receiving threat.

How much of his poor average per carry is the result of bad play calling and or bad run blocking?  No sense in rehashing the debate, but from what I have seen, usually he has very little running room.  I don't recall many gaping holes that he has simply missed hitting because of bad decision making or lack of speed and explosion.  I blame his lack of production on a combination of bad play calling and bad blocking.  Otherwise, though, he has been a player that still brings much to the table and I am not so sure that any of those players taken around the 24th slot would have brought more to the table at this point.  Based on last year's picks, I would rather have Trent Richardson.

Now, let's look at how the 2014 ranked prospects compare (as rated by CBS Sports - granted, I don't know how well they are at rating it, but I am not going to go into a hugely indepth draft analysis in making my point):

    21.  David Yankey OG

    22.  Vic Beasley  OLB

    23.  Louis Nix  DT

    24.  Eric Ebron  TE

    25.  Davante Adams  WR

    26.  Justin Gilbert  CB

    27.  ReShede Hageman  DT

I am not up to speed on the 2014 draft prospects to be able to comment on these players and their potential.  The question is, though, given the serviceability of Trent Richardson this year to date and moving forward for the rest of the season and playoffs, combined with his expected contributions next year, do any of these players offer a greater impact next year?  I am thinking not.  Down the road to 2015 and beyond, well that might be arguable.  Bottom line for me, though, is I am dubious at best that any of these players will be more impactful on the field than Trent Richardson will be on the field for the remainder of this year, next year, and the next couple of years thereafter.  For me, I still make that trade for Trent Richardson, for I think he is and will be a key offensive weapon moving forward for the next several years.  Certainly in my mind, he is a more impactful weapon that needs to be accounted for by opposing teams as compared to some journeyman rb that so many think can readily be had on the cheap.

Ergo, I prefer to have Trent Richardson as compared to this coming draft's first round draft pick.

Agreed. With Brown's injury history we would also be up the creek without a paddle now.

  6. Would this have been a Grigson move acquiring Da'Rick?

On another note what if he does for some reason just blow up these last few games and in the playoffs, what is his contract situation like? I'm just wondering if he could easily walk because a team offers him more $$$. I personally think he has heaps of potential and would hate to see him go anywhere after a mere few games for the Colts.

Maybe we could offer him the 3 mil DHB is getting or use franchise tag for a year.

  7. I'm not sure why it took 2 OGs to be out for Reitz to finally get a start. From just watching the game live Reitz seemed to play very well. Keep playing him.

Somewhere between the OL coach and the HC it was determined Reitz was better at T than G even though he started at G for 2 years.

  8. That was different. We had Wayne and Toler for all those games on O and D.

Right now, I think they should try a few different things like:

    1. Use T.Y.Hilton like the Packers used Randall Cobb and Vikes used Percy Harvin, as a potential scat back to get him away from the #1 CB every now and then.
    2. Run screen passes for Chris Rainey
    3. Use Da'Rick Rogers' size on the outside for more plays

This will at least keep Ds honest.

Toler is back and maybe Rogers and Rainey can help compensate for Wayne.

  9. Seriously?  If he doesn't know the playbook by now he has bigger problems than a bad OL.

He did not know the playbook when he was thrust into the lineup. He has been learning plays as they apply to the gameplan. He probably wont be comfortable until preseason games next year. It usually takes a RB a year to get comfortable with a playbook. The bad OL is the biggest problem for our team as it seems Luck has been struggling because of protection problems.

  10. Of course any new player needs to learn the play book but there is countless film of the guy simply not seeing holes. All the great running backs have the ability to find small holes even if they aren't where plays are designed to go. Trent has tunnel vision. Maybe that will change but I doubt it. You can either see or you can't.

If we gave up a pick for a back with no vision then that is Grigson's fault. I believe it has been more a combination of a poor OL and not knowing the playbook. DB had the same problem earlier in his career that Trent is having now.

  11. I hope the coaches learn from this. I have said before that they sometimes give people roles without competition. T Rich was thrust into the lineup after a few days. Brown should have had that role with T Rich playing more as he learned the offense and proved what he could do. Brown is weak in pass protection and so it seemed the coaching staff did not want him in the lineup but Havili could have taken the pass protection role.

  12. I would be interested in knowing Adongo's vertical. With his height he might be good at batting down passes.

Grigson did the measurements on him but did not post them. There was a picture somewhere on youtube showing him jumping with his hips near another person's shoulder which looked like maybe a 35in vertical. I believe his bj was over 11. He was also stated that he ran about a 10 flat 100 meters in high school.
