  1. Could moving Joe Lefeged to CB benefit the team?Joe has excellent athletic ability similar to Piere Garcon. He is 6-0 210lbs. He ran a 4.42 at the combine with a 4.13ss and a 6.72c at his pro day. These numbers are similar to the top CBs. He has no experience as a corner but maybe with a good db coach he could make the move allowing the team to add another outstanding athlete into the starting defense.

  2. Gonzo displayed the bad attitude when he came back from his first injury. He felt he should have started ahead of Garcon without having to earn his position back. The coaching staff felt otherwise.

  3. Gonzo should be cut because of his attitude. Wayne and Garcon will be kept or cut based on contract demands. Clark should be traded because his contract is too expensive for a one dimentional TE. Tamme can give the team the same receiving production as Clark. What is needed is a complete TE that can catch and block. The Colts are moving to a more balanced offense which will use a FB more often thereby reduce the number of plays using dual TEs or a third slot receiver. Garcon should be a priority because of his blocking as much as for his big play ability. We can not afford to keep both Tamme and Clark because neither is a good blocker. Bracket is over priced and should be cut. Lacy should be kept for depth and the new DB coaches may help him with technique. Pollack may have been hampered by lack of coaching but he seems to be iniury prone. Saturday is old and should retire. Hopefully the strength and conditioning coaches will make the players who are kept stronger and healthier but a change in offensive philosophy will dictate some current players moving on. If Freeney is opposed to playing LB he should be traded because he will be over priced as a situational pass rusher. Grigson has stated his desire to find a starter in each round of the draft and this draft is strong in CBs and OGs which are areas of need. Pagano is a players coach but he has to develop new leaders on the Colts defense.

  4. Andrew Luck should be the Colts first pick. The Polians are gone because of violating the cardinal rule of drafting. They did not draft the absolute best football player available when their turn came to draft. They drafted based on their percieved needs at the time. The draft is the back bone of a team and must be used to garner the best football players available regardless of position. Needs should be filled by the frugal signing of free agents and wise use of trades. If you have a good coaching staff then the more blue chip players you have on your team the easier it is to win. Andrew Luck is the best this year of the blue chip players and should be the first pick.

  5. By signing one key free agent the Colts could field a decent 3-4 team in 2012. If we sign Carlos Rogers as a CB then the 3-4 could be Fili Moala at RDE, Jamal Anderson at LDE, draft Josh Chapman as NT in round 2, Pat Angerer and Phillip wheeler at ILBs, Jerry Hughes and Robert Mathis as OLBs, Carlos Rogers and Jerraud Powers at CB, and finally David Caldwell and Antoine Bethea at Safeties. Freeney and Nevis can come in when the team runs a 4-3 defense.

  6. Not to continue to beat a dead horse but we will see if the problem was Hughes or the coaching staff. A good defensive coordinator would determine who his best players are and devise a scheme to put his best players on the field. Coach Caldwell fired his defensive coordinator which tells us coaching was part of the problem. Bill Polian had talked of using Hughes in a joker role but that never came to fruition. Hughes has been trained for two years to be a DE when his measurables suggested he should be an OLB. Murphy was the best defensive coach Caldwell had but never got a chance to tutor Hughes. Lets give coach Pagano a chance to see what Hughes can do before we throw the baby out with the bath water.

  7. Even if Peyton is 100% healthy we need a backup QB. This past season showed us that without a capable backup our offense is dead in the water. Peyton is aging and may have only a couple of good years left. It would be foolish to pass on a QB prospect that may be as dominant in a couple of years as Peyton has been. We passed on a couple of good QBs in 2011 to rebuild our OL. Curtis Painter is not going to be a dominant QB. In college he was benched for making foolish mental mistakes. He has all the physical tools but not the mental makeup to lead a team. We need the best possible QB we can find to continue to lead this team into the future. Peyton does not seem to be 100% healthy so maybe we need a credible QB now. Luck and RGIII are both suppose to be better prospects than Cam Newton and Cam had one of the best rookie season in NFL history. If the Colts pass on one of the two best prospects to come out in recent memory it could have repercussions that hurts the team for years to come. Cinncinatti traded its QB and Dalton took them into the playoffs as a rookie. Irsay has to take Luck or RGIII to have any credibility as an owner and to insure the team has a chance going forward.

  8. Maybe the 3-4 Defense will change a lot of peoples careers. Fili Maola played mostly DE at USC instead of DT. Ricardo Matthews also played DE at Cinncinanti. It could be Maola and Matthews compete with Anderson to form bigger DEs. If Hughes and Mathis can start at OLBs it is possible the Colts could put together a competitive defense in 2012. Freeney and Nevis could rotate in when a 4-3 defense is used. Mario Harvey could be an interesting player at ILB. Harvey ran a 4.46 on his pro day at 257lbs. Colts still desperately need a NT and a CB to be competitive.

  9. Hughes had excellent production in college the couple of years he started. He was a RB in high school so it took him a while to make the position change and to grow into the position. He seems to be a natural LB who maybe could play in a simpler system than the Colts ran the last 2 years. This year will determine if he can play in the NFL. He has much better coaching. With his athletic ability he should have been a difference maker on special teams if not at DE.

  10. Blue was my favorite color. I fell in love with the colts because of the first football game I saw on television. It was in 1958 and the Colts played the Giants in what was billed as the greatest game ever played. I watched the game on a black and white tv. I was impressed with the grit and determination the team played with. Later I fell in love with the blue color and horse shoe helmets. I have not waivered since. The Colts had players on that 1958 team that later would go into the hall of fame. Johnny U and John Mackey were voted the greatest at their positions in the first 50 years of football. Weeb Ubank and Don Shula were great head coaches. Players and coaches come and go. We changed owners and towns but I still love the Colts. I used to travel from South Carolina to Baltimore twice a year to go to Colts home games but I have never been to Indy to see a game. I am not a fair weather fan. Teams can not maintain a championship level forever but a good owner commited to winning will weather storms and bring the team back.

  11. Jerry Hugh's combine numbers suggest that he should be an all star LB. For some reason he did not distinguish himself on STs like a LB should. This year will be a make or break year. If coaching was the problem then we should end up with a 6'-2'' 255lb linebacker who has the agility of a DB. If he is a head case he will get cut.
