I am interested on feedback on what people have garnered from watching the top two teams in the Superbowl as it relates to team building. I am thinking about the need for a true #1 receiver? Continue to build in the trenches?  San Fran's defense is very similar to what the Colts run and what did people see from that D as the game wore on?  It was evident at the game got to the 4th, the D line was gassed and this is supposedly a great D line. That has been one of my biggest issues with this D. I have always contended that as the game wears on, this defense becomes very predictable as the Dline wears down and the Qb becomes very comfortable carving up the zones.  Wilks tried some blitzes and paid dearly for it.

Looks like Wilks was forced by the head coach into some blitzes.

    In R1, yes….

But then he traded down in the second round — twice.    Then he traded down in the 5th round, I think it was 4 times.    And he might have traded down one other time in the 6th or 7th round.

This is what I’m thinking will happen again.  Trading down multiple times in multiple rounds.

I hope he keeps the 1st round pick and drafts a playmaker.

I think he’ll do what he did last year.   Trade down and collect more picks.  If he stays at 15 and makes a pick that tells me the player is ranked much higher on Ballard’s board than 15.   Much the same as when Ballard picked Paye at 21 when they had Paye ranked 10th.

I do not see Ballard trading the pick for a player like he did with Buckner.  That player would likely command a salary of $20m+ per year.   I don’t see that happening.

Last year he stayed put and took the qb.

While I think we will win to much to get a chance at Marvin Harrison Jr. Another option I like is Troy Franklin WR from the Ducks at 6’ 3” he had great hands and has shown big play ability. I think he would match well on the outside and complement Downs/Pittman. I’m also looking at CB Kalen King because I could also see us going CB.

    I like him as well.

Thought he was harsh on Freeland on that int. Freeland checked the DE hit the blitzing db. Fries didn't even look. Dove to help Kelly with double team. Other than that I thought his analysis was dead on. He's real good.

If Freeland takes the de the rpo could have switched to a run between the tackle and guard. Fries job was to double team the nt first and peal to the lb. Freeland should have been de all the way.

Noticed that some of the weights have been changed on this website.

Not sure how legit they are; it is missing Bernhard Raimann's weight gain. Also, a lot of players seem to be listed as their rookie weights (e.g. Will Fries, Braden Smith, Danny Pinter), while some have not changed for years (Ryan Kelly).

Some I definitely see as legit; e.g. Dayo listed at 6'6'' and 286 lbs. He's only 23 and has already been in the league for 2 years, so it's not a stretch to say that he grew some between the ages of 21-23.

I thought Dayo came out of college at 6’6”.

    Well here's the PFF's mock:

    https://www.pff.com/news/draft-pff-2020-nfl-mock-draft-dolphins-trade-tua-tagovailoa

Colts trade down with the Cowboys from 13 to 17 and select....

And then the Colts go QB with the WAS pick in the second round:

Then the Colts go WR with their own second round pick:

So what say you, Colts nation?

I would be disappointed with those picks.

I appreciate you putting that together, but that’s a basic breakdown of the QB’s. It doesn’t breakdown anything in justifying where or where not to select a QB.

Meaning for example, T. Brady was a 6th Rd pick, when the Patriots had a top QB in D. Bledsoe, so is this comparable to the situation the Colts are currently in with Brissett? Absolutely, not!

Does drafting a QB in Rd 1 equate to SB titles? Absolutely, not!

It just seems like you’re trying to argue not drafting a QB at 13 with the Colts. Fair enough!  Nothing personal, and I appreciate you putting that together.

However, I view the Colts QB situation as a “critical need” and hoping to get a R. Wilson in the 3rd or T. Brady in the 6th is far more risky than trying to draft an above average or potentially elite QB in round #1.
