Regarding my cover of "I Don't Care Anymore" by HY I posted yesterday, I forgot to mention this: My condolences to the family of Vinnie Paul, former drummer of Pantera, who passed away on June 22nd.

I always get depressed when musicians die because they represent the closest thing to pure creativity we have left in this world. Some comedians like George Carlin & Robin Williams float among this unique realm too.

When you see quality musicians bond with a crowd & occupy a brief live space where nothing else matters for a 2 hour set, it's pretty amazing.

  2. You once told me that you liked this song. I heard it yesterday and found this live version of it. It is a great song.

Btw, hope you had a Happy Father's Day with your lovely daughter.

    And how about this one?

    I love 70s music.

Kudos on your Peter Gabriel choices too. Gotta add 1 more from his catalog though.

A very unrated song of the highest caliber. Enough said.

Nice selections as always RR7. Appreciate the Blackie Lawless stuff as well as Rainbow, Whitesnake, Autograph, & several other bands you posted brother. :scoregood:

People unfamiliar with WASP always get the wrong impression. You know that Blackie had an addiction problem when it came to the opposite sex. That Apache frontman is very sharp. Part of it, was just designed to tick off the PMRC [Parents Music Resource Center]; Part of it was just to go against the grain to manufacture controversy to sell millions of records; & part of it was just the rock n roll lifestyle back in the day. Blackie is a very deep thinker who articulates his point of view exceptually well in 1 on 1 interviews overall.

Speaking of Phil Collins, I really like this cover of "I don't Care Anymore" by H*** Yeah. It's very good.

It has what I call teeth. One of my favs actually.

  6. Prince, a fellow Vikesfan, would have celebrated his 60th birthday today, if he were still alive. I think his halftime performance in Super Bowl XL1 was the best I have seen. And who won that Super Bowl?

    Continue to rest in peace.

  7. Took a little break but I'm back.

  8. Anybody been giving a speeding ticket? Was not giving one until Monday Night going 54 mph in a 35 mph. And really makes me now cautious on not speeding.

Since we already arrived in mullet heaven, cheesy glam rock with it's good old fashioned, sexist overtones & spandex workout gear seems like the next logical plateau right?

Lame, trashy, & catchy all rolled into one. I miss the 80's man. LOL! This was actually released in 2017 but sounds comically vintage though from the 1980's.

These boys from Sweden always crack me up! Almost like Spinal Tap tried to make a Top 10 train wreck single on purpose. I do like the tractor trailer mustache on the lead goof ball though. Figures, the lady has to play for the wrong team. Just joking!

I like  stuff so bad it grows on ya after awhile like a fuzzy fungus which eventually becomes decent & dare I say enduring after awhile.

You know how sometimes black women have a weave & older men sometimes buy rugs or toupees to mask or cover a bald spot on their head?

Is this guitarist named Chris Blade Johnson wearing a mop from the Home Shopping Network on his head as he jams out to "Prisoner" by Dokken?  Reminds me of Wayne's World with Dana Carvey & Mike Myers actually...

Or maybe his household cat naps up there while he plays I don't know.

Checkout a band called Rock Candy laying down a live version of Dokken's "Cry Of The Gypsy" man.

It's a little raw & unrefined sure, but solid & not too shabby for those familiar with the original track itself. I applaud any group brave enough to go out on stage & subject themselves to public scrutiny among the masses. That takes confidence, guts, & balls of steel baby. Seriously, this number is darn good minus the marshall amps feedback that is.

Here's the Don Dokken original for comparison purposes below:

Remember, professional recording studios & a major label getting a band top notch roadies & sound equipment makes all the difference in the world. Therefore, don't be too harsh or critical of Rock Candy in general okay.

Sorry RR7 for dominating this thread with Dokken classics, but this amateur "Alone Again" is off the chain...Very impressive if I do say so myself.

I've posted this version of the same song before I know, but I really am fond of this version as well.

I'll stop my brief Dokken obsession shortly. I promise. :D Every so often, I need to hear a band & Dokken is on my rolodex today. Thanks for putting up with me today.

Old is new again or should I say reborn or rebooted for 2018. The rockin' with Dokken boys still got it!

This classic nostalgic stuff makes me feel good man like I'm not all that ancient. LOL!

I know I probably say this to the level of redundant overkill, but the reason I love Don & the gang so much is because they know how to harmonize & blend their voices together so well. They actually sing, play their instruments with precision, know how to work a crowd; & they don't shout, grunt, & growl like so many bands of the metal genre prefer to do. Dokken isn't just white noise or pollution for your ears; They want to show you what a real artist sounds like & they pull it off with flying colors  from my perspective.

God, I love Japan. Those audiences always appreciate quality metal & hard rock. They tend to steer clear of hip hop & light pop & go straight for pulse pounding rock n roll baby. I like it!

Hey, since my brotha from another mother RR7 posted classic Ratt & Dokken albums, I figured I'd update this list with new songs from Stephen Pearcy & Don Dokken below:

I will still be listening to heavy metal even in my 80's & I'm closing in on 50 just around the bend in a few more yrs myself. :D

The former Ratt frontman Mr. Pearcy with a live version of a track called "Want Too Much."

Dokken was my very first metal band I listened to as a kid & saw live on stage. I have an affinity for these guys. Love these guys! Their new lineup doesn't include George Lynch unfortunately. However,  Mick Brown is still around a darn good drummer. Don is still killing it on vocals. Chris a quality bassist is doing his thing, & Jon Levin of Europe 'final countdown' fame is adequate. I still miss Lynch though.

Checkout "It's Another Day" new material from Dokken. Man, I love kick caboose drummers who make the audience feel their thunderous presence. Sweet!

Good stuff. Takes me back to my youth man when I was thinner, younger, & had more hair than I do now.

      NO_DOUBT_THE+SINGLES+SAMPLER+1992-2003-2

They made punk mainstream & incorporated Reggae in their work & still managed to sell out stadiums. Plus, Gwen Steffani is easy on the eyes & like DLR she comes up with unconventional lyrics.

Gwen is well versed in singing top tier ballads too.

@TheRustonRifle Well said brother! When I heard "Nothing Else Matters" for the first time, I was blown away that James could actually do that. Like you said his range was unbelievable. And "Sad But True" was a mixture of ballad plus metal too, so when some fans rejected this new sound; I knew that they just wanted copycat material that they had grown accustom to & they had no idea how landmark the Black Album really was. Sad really.

I really respect your knowledge of music RR7 as well as Lollygager8's & CC1's too.

Also, I know that Metallica used the movie "Spinal Tap" as inspiration for their Black album. I still LMAO when I see that scene when they unveil their new black album & nobody can see the album cover because of the glare coming off it like a shiny mirror. Rob Reiner was so hilarious chronicling those guys on tour in the movie. haha

The Black Album by Metallica is pretty groundbreaking. Just to hear James Hetfield actually sing vs shout or growl. They toured for like 2 straight yrs across the globe just off that release & it took those guys to a whole new stratosphere of fans. Never seen anything like that before in heavy metal. That level of frenzy, adoration, & popularity inside that genre overall.

The weird thing I remember about that whole time period is this: It was like a mutiny among Ride the Lighting fans who hated this more mellow, ballad centric album like they feared Lars, James, Kirk, & Jason had lost their edge & gone soft.

I was like what? Can't these fans see how revolutionary the Black Album is? Very bizarre.

I actually liked this album much better than Dr. Feelgood. Vince, Mick, Nikki, & Tommy did their best work together on this one in my estimation.

Everything on this album just clicked. Incredible studio production. 'Bad Boy Boogie' & 'Five Yrs Dead' are next level great & Tommy just killed it on drums. Hades, even music critics loved this entire album from start to finish.
