There was no reason to pay a backup nose tackle. Or pay a guy like Flacco. Ballard used his resources in the wrong places.

Really?  We don't need any depth behind Grover?  We didn't need a new backup QB?  I have the option of playing Franchise mode in Madden with injuries turned off.  Ballard does not.

I never said they don’t have the right to do so. Just question why they feel the need to. Have you ever been on some of the other teams forums? LOL! My word… Feels like you should have to verify your age to participate. I’ve watched harmless posts disappear, when others stay up that certainly would fall under prohibited posting under the terms of service. That’s all… hypocrisy. You know, sort of like those that complained about Houston trading for Diggs when they not long ago said absolutely not to the idea of the Colts trading for him.

Gotcha, I do agree with your overall point.  It was the reference to 1984 and the government that I admit kinda set me off.  I've seen waaaay too many people online literally not have a clue what the right to free speech actually protects them from.

    My apologies :)

I think the Texans and the Colts are two teams that are in two different places.

The Texans won the division last season and are trying to make a splash in FA and compete with the big boys - KC, Buffalo, Bengals and Ravens. They are no longer content with just winning the division.

The Colts on the other hand are just trying to win the division taking a step forward from last season.

Maybe this is why Ballard is being conservative. Because coming in 2nd place in the division could be a step up and meet Irsays approval giving Ballard another year

I agree with the first sentence, but not necessarily the rest.  The Texans saw enough of Stroud to know he can be a franchise QB.  The Colts haven't actually seen that yet from Richardson due to injuries.  That's the difference between the 2.  I don't think it has anything to do with contentment about a division win.

I actually think we do, and it was a lot shorter than the amount of time people spent talking about it...

I'm sure we have a really good idea, but to be fair we don't truly know and never will unless Ballard comes out and tells us.

I'm in IT.  I don't like dealing in absolutes and never will unless I am 100% sure I am right. lol :)

have you ever read 1984? The ministry of truth is strong on this forum… I can’t even type the word to indicate what happens when things disappear (just like I expect this post to vanish into thin air in a few moments) because it is, well, again- can’t use the word…

God forbid the U.S. turns to policing speech like it is on this forum…

    LOL

God forbid the company that owns this forum be able to set up the terms of service that they want and appoint people to enforce those terms.  This isn't exactly something new.

That is pretty rude. Every person ads  value to this forum..

Sorry, but no, not everyone adds value to the forum.

of course they can.  it's how they express those opinions that potentially gets someone labelled as a "hater".

show me anywhere I said that my opinion is the only one that is right?

See, this is where you get into trouble. It’s one thing to say: “I think we could improve our secondary”.

this is the kind of person that adds value to discussion and the forum as a whole.

But then you go and call them dumb when you don’t even know what their thoughts of the secondary truly are.

They are either clueless at evaluating their own roster or aren’t trying their best.

    lmao:lol:haha

Or, as I said earlier, they are better at talent evaluation than you are.

BTW, I remember not long ago you said that if they brought back Blackmon and signed a vet FS (which could easily still be done) then you'd be happy heading into the draft.

Nah- We’re not mocking fans who have legitimate concerns. That’s not you though. You keep repeating the same old thing. “Ballard doesn’t care.” “The season is over.” Etc etc. I understand if fans are tired of not making playoffs, I am too. However, I’m especially tired of the sky is falling commentary on here.

hey now. People play madden and religiously follow pff… they are more than qualified to run a multi billion dollar football franchise. Far better than these losers that have worked 70 plus hours a week for decades in the business.

omg, how could I forget?  that's my bad guys...that's on me

I am beginning to question  the entire organizations evaluation of their current roster. They are either very bad at understanding their current roster or yeah they aren’t putting their best effort forward. There is no middle ground here.

um, there is a third option, which is that they are better at talent evaluation than you are.

because you and others repeatedly state Ballard builds through the draft, but now say he could be looking for an upgrade.

perhaps I'm misinterpreting you, but it sounds like you're taking "building through the draft" way too literally.  If I did misinterpret then my bad.

Every team has playmakers and role players.  Since he's gotten here, Ballard has used the draft to try to find the playmakers (Buckner being the one exception that immediately comes to mind), and free agency to sign and upgrade those role players.  This is essentially what is meant by "building through the draft".

a question for those who think ballard is an above average roster builder, how many of the current colts roster do you think could be starters for the chiefs and who are they?

I would try to answer, but it would just make you sad :P

So we out here throwing a fit every time another team makes a signing or trade? Lmao.

Is this your first off-season on the forum?  This is pretty much standard operating procedure around here lol

We need better pass rush. That can come from the interior as well.

In fact, most QBs agree that interior pressure is the type of pressure they hate the most.  If we did take a DT at 15 (which would likely be Byron Murphy), it would only be someone that Ballard feels can take Buckner's place in the future.

Plus, imagine a year or possibly more (depending on a Buckner extension) having Murphy and Buckner in the middle together?
