  1. The Chargers have wanted a new stadium, ideally built downtown and part of the already successful Convention Center and Padres Stadium location.  The city wanted to rework their existing location which is rather isolated and not as financially lucrative over the long haul.  If they can get this done it's best all around.

The Chargers would always be second fiddle in LA and would end up having some team in San Diego to add more competition not less.

San Diego should have a superbowl worthy stadium and should have had it years ago.  It is the most consistently great weather location in February and a huge destination for people wanting to get away from the cold in the east.

  2. I have deadlines to deal with today so I didn't get a chance to read everyone else's posts so forgive me if I repeat other's thoughts :)

    1.  It isn't Peyton that's the biggest issue it's his OLine.  The Panther's pass rush is going to obliterate their line.  They haven't protected him that well all year.  When Peyton doesn't have time to throw, he doesn't throw well.

    2.  Both teams have amazing D's but, Cam's offense is much more versatile an able to put up mass quantities of points.  Peyton's offense isn't the fast, high scoring game he once ran.

    3.  I don't believe that the Panthers will wipe out Denver but I'm guessing they'll win with somewhere between 7-14 more points that Denver is able to put on the board.

  3. There will NEVER be consistency in how things are called.  Why?  The game moves too fast, there are 22 players and how many officials?

I used to officiate high school girls basketball and I can tell you officiating was MUCH easier from the stands than on the court.  Too many times a body is blocking the ref's view while a fan can see it clearly.  And those are some rather large bodies on those fields.  On top of that you could call a foul on every single play of the game.  Do we fans want the game to move at that pace or allow the teams to play?

  4. This morning, before having my coffee....  I read the headline "Andy Dalton has cast on hand removed" on NFL.com as

    "Andy Dalton has hand removed"

My heart skipped a beat and I'm not even a Bengals fan.

Moral of the story - What the heck are you doing doing anything without C O F F E E ?!

  5. Until last night I hadn't watched a Vikings game (and I fell asleep before the 4th qtr) so thanks for the clarity on the quality of your line.  However... I'd take the same 5 guys over like 20 guys playing "Chinese Fire Drill" any day :P

  6. Keeping perspective - Remember that 20 points came against a team that had 0 starting secondary playing and by the end of the game had I think 4 guys playing back there that were literally fresh off the street.  I wouldn't get too hyped up about what Peyton will be able to do with their offense against a playoff caliber team.

He's back.  He's better than Brock.  The D is dominant.  They've got a shot but there are teams to get by first.

I really wanted him as an OC lol good to keep him I guess since they most likely are moving

I'm one of the few SD fans that wanted to see McCoy stay another year.

First reason - revolving door coach/GM franchises tend to stay revolving door.  A culture is being established that s actually quite promising.  There were no excuses.  No quit.  No whining.  And the team came to play every game as one without drama (well... until Weddle's drama at the end).

Second reason - those of you who haven't paid close attention to our last two seasons, our O Line has been decimated 2 or 3 times over.  I almost cried last night watching the Vikings/GB game when the announcers said that the Vikings front line had been the same for a whole season.  Geesh... It's been 4 or 5 years since we could say that and magically that's about how long we've been average to this years' bad.

Third reason - with reason #2's facts that we were within one score in 9 or our 12 losses and 6 or 7 of those coming down to the last play we aren't as far away from winning as a Tennessee or Cleveland.  There are intangibles that are improving with our young players - speed to the ball, tackling, hitting hard on D that could begin to bear fruit for a new era.

    Ever the hopeful fan,

    Pollyanna

  8. Chargers just announced that Mike McCoy will be retained but watch for other (probably many) changes in staff.  Eric Weddle's locker is completely packed up and his name plate gone.  DC Pagano rumored to be going.

I would love if Whisenhunt came back as OC since he's been fired at Tennessee

  9. The Broncos would have lost this game had Peyton not come in.  He took the reins and made the calls - Brock can't read the D and was getting pounded.  Peyton read the coverage and got the yardage whether it called for runs or passes.

The last couple years Peyton has had a good first half of the season and not played as well as the season went on.  This year he took off the middle of the season and was fresh.  He only has 3 games to go.  He just could pull it off.  (Maybe he'll retire then :P)

  10. Whether we win this game or not this is exactly what our entire season has looked like.  No quit no matter how many guys have gone down.  Gotta be proud of my boys for that.  8 games I think decided by one score and 6 I think on the last play of the game.
