  1. Kaep and other QBs that entered the league at that same time, were riding the wave of wildcat offenses.  It took the defenses about a year to figure them out and every quarterback that couldn't adapt is gone.  RG3 & Kaep being the most notable.  Also, any QB that requires a specialized offense to utilize (Tebow,) or is more inclined to run that stay safer in the pocket is a longterm liability rather than an asset.  There aren't many that have survived and thrived historically and if they get injured the entire team's success is completely at risk.

If Kaep was honest with himself, he would understand the issues and work toward resolving them.

  2. What could POSSIBLY go wrong....

Couldn't happen to a better team, they're buying a fairy tale in my humble opinion.  It's easy to sound "all wise" when it's just talk.

Throw in real life with its injuries, arrests (we ARE TALKING about Raiders) and an out of control locker room.  3 years in I bet they have massive regrets.

  3. SO GLAD we are not on the coaching carousel this year.

You can't be sure about a coach just one year in, but I love Anthony Lynn.  He holds guys accountable, even publicly, but not in an abrasive manner.  He didn't panic or let his men panic at 0-4.  The men love him.  Can't wait for next year.

Good luck to those of you who have teams hunting for a good one!

One can hope.....its a sad day when I'm rooting for the Steelers.

 LOL all of our emotions

Yeah... I felt SO DIRTY YESTERDAY... I was rooting for the Raiders and the Steelers on the same day *bblleecchh!*

Raiders don't have enough left in the tank, so we will have to take KC out on our own AND make sure the Raiders don't get an emotional boost out of the thought of taking us out of the  playoffs on our last game of the season (we've done that to them a time or two)

So do I. Belichick and the Patriots have been upset by balanced teams (not named Colts) who they play a team for a second time during the season.

That is the thing that is keeping Ekeler from realizing his potential and fantasy value too, his mistakes, he cannot be trusted by the coaches for long stretches of time. :)

But he is learning.  I love that our new coach will call out a player publicly when they make a big mistake and Austin learns from his mistakes.  He doesn't sulk.  He corrects his errors.  I have a feeling he's going to be a gem if we make the playoffs and definitely in the future.

  6. Rivers absolutely LOVES playing at KC, it will be for control of the division, so no pressure!

My concerns are field goals instead of tds.  That will work on lesser teams, but won't take you far in the playoffs.

Getting better on penalties and mistakes.  Ekeler made a big rookie mistake today that fortunately didn't matter but could in another game.

    I like where we are.

The Patriots changed their name from Boston to New England because they moved 35-40 miles south of Boston. The 49ers moved to Santa Clara and kept the name San Francisco only due to tradition (Jed York's decision).

That's a stadium location change, not a true move.  SD was exploring 3 or 4 options for similar distance stadium builds, would have been no big deal at all.  Big diff between a move and a stadium location.

If you're not West Coast, LA is hated as a city, fan base etc.

To beat a team like the Patriots, the Chargers need to be willing to go to their 2nd and 3rd WRs more because you know Belichick is going to take Keenan Allen out.

ABSOLUTELY.  Mike Williams needs to get into the game the last 4 weeks.  Even though he's been injured, he's been quite a disappointment to this point.  Hunter Henry is growing into a larger role.  The pass drops of the rest of the passing corp must stop.  Austin Ekeler is growing by leaps and bounds into the Darren Sproles/Danny Woodhead role for us.

I only hate Belichick because he's so dang good at blowing us up ;-)

I don't want to veer off topic, but that comment refers to angry Chargers fans saying Dean Spanos doesn't deserve to own a football team.

Both teams made a lot of mistakes. Multiple turnovers by both quarterbacks, dumb penalties after reaching the 5 yard line . . . I can't even remember all of them. Your guys will definitely be hyped up if there is a rematch.

Gotcha - I don't live in SD and haven't since 2004 so I don't keep up on the bitter fan scene.  Frankly, after like 15 years waiting for the city to come to the table I can't say that I blame the Chargers organization.  I don't know of any other team that made a move that still allowed their prior city to be able to attend the games due to the short distance.  If I lived in SD I would make the trip a couple times a year.

  10. That's a new one Jaguarswoman - "They don't deserve a playoff berth anyway because of their move to Los Angeles."  LOL!

That game was infuriating.  So many mistakes.  So many dumb choices.  But you guys hung in there and didn't quit and when you had the chance to take the game, you DIDN'T make mistakes.

I would imagine our guys would be totally hyped up to face y'all again ;-)

  11. Technically, I believe we are in 2nd place as we have the win over the Raiders.

We control our own destiny.  If we win out we win the division.  Raiders have the toughest remaining schedule (ranked #8), then the Chiefs (#26) and Chargers (#28)

NOBODY thought we would be in the hunt after going 0-4.  No style points for the win today but the D closed the game out.

I didn't see KCs game and hubby forgot to record it.  I know they lost but how did they look?

  12. By this time in the season, there aren't a lot of surprises that an offense can throw at a D.  You have to flat out execute the defense on things they know is coming.  I haven't seen them do that in the last couple games.

I HATE our slow starts, but would rather be picking up steam as the season rolls around than fading.  That can snowball really fast and that looks like what's happening with KC

  13. Thanks dgambill, this has been a very busy year for me as my career is pretty much taking over my life (which I am NOT complaining about!)  However, It has greatly limited my "play time."

AND, well... there is no good way to say it, until recently there wasn't much to rejoice about this season, lol!  Just when I had resigned myself to "next year," we set off on a tear.

I like our chances to take the division outright.  We played our hardest games the first third of the season when we were sputtering.  We have the second easiest schedule remaining.  If we can't do it, it's on us.  We could have beaten New England, but we had no offense yet and it wasn't our D's best game.  I always respect the Patriots, but wouldn't be afraid going into a playoff game against them.

Philip deserves to win a Super Bowl and there are a lot of very young, really good players that are determined to get it for him.

I like our new coach, Anthony Lynn.  You Colt's fans need one like him.  He's not unkind, but he's not worried about being the guys' best friend.  He holds people accountable and isn't afraid to call out a player when needed.  He's working on disciplined thinking, cutting down on stupid penalties (Long time Charger's issue) and playing fast and hitting hard.

  14. Yeah, it's our dish that's malfunctioning and will probably need to be replaced.  The soonest they can get here is Friday morning.

Thank GOD our game had already been played on Thanksgiving or sweet, quiet little 'ole me might have been threatening to rip them a new one ;-)

I watched our game with a house full of family and grandkids so I didn't really get to watch it much and we can't even access the tivo part. *deep sigh!*

  15. Our Directv went out over the weekend and we didn't get to see any of the games.  How did the Raider's offense look in this game.  In all honesty, we were hoping for a Denver win so we could be alone in the hunt for the division or the wc spot.  Sure wish we could have seen the KC game!

Go Chargers! Rivers is the best QB in that Division, I hope they keep rolling. I am now rooting for the Titans in the South too.

We had a ROUGH transition with the head coaching change, and working out what our Offense would look like and the defense changing from a hybrid 3-4 to a 4-3 AND the move to LA and...

But we are young and hungry and Philip has more years left in him and still loves the game (and his family doesn't want him to stop playing).  There's absolutely no quit in our team and that's the best thing as their confidence grows.

  17. I love this move... because it's going to end so badly.  LOVE when a D as strong as Denver's gets paired with an offense that can't help themselves.  If we can keep improving and get over the "only lost by 3 points" curse, AND keep Rivers healthy it could be time for a last run for him.

  18. Saw a statistic on how much playoff teams invest in the draft for Oline and it is consistently around 50%, Charger's statistics were low 20% if I recall correctly.  That one simple statistic explains the wasted River's talent.  Plenty of talent in other areas that can't excel without an O-line.

That said, I NEVER WHINE. We deserved this loss, Patriots were the better team in that they don't make stupid errors that cost them TDs.   But this blew my mind.  I did not see it live as my directv did not pick up the Chargers game on auto record so I didn't see this touchdown.

  19. Turned out to be a fun game.  Their D is really tough.  They were all over our receivers, there wasn't much open.  Even though we were up 14-0 early, I'm never comfortable with a lead on Denver with our past history with them, but then Trevor Simien isn't Peyton Manning ;-)

On to New England.  That could go either way, depending on which NE team shows up.  They've been weird this year.  Also depending on IF our offense can get charged up.

  20. We ended the 2016 season with 27 players on IR.  I went back to see where we were by this date last year and it was just too depressing to even total it up.

This year we have not been unscathed as we have not seen our 1st round draft pick WR Mike Williams so far with a back injury.  2nd round Forrest Lamp, OL with a blown knee for the year, QB of the D Denzel Perryman out for 6-8 weeks after ankle surgery.  I can't think if we've had anyone else notable, but compared to last year *fingers crossed* we're in better shape.

watt until proven otherwise  when he's healthy he's unstoppable he's like Gronk lol

I Love watching JJ Watt play - he is just as pure a player as there is in the game.  He flat out loves the game and never quits.  I hope he's able to make it all the way back.
