  1. Yep. I agree. I don't think SI is the definitive source for much of anything, I did think, if that is the outcome of a trade back scenario, it would be a good one for the Colts and worth doing. Personally. I hope the Colts keep the pick and draft a potentially pro-bowl caliber player. I think there is a real possibility to draft a premier talent with up to 4 QB's off the board before the Colts pick.
  2. The latest SI mock has the Colts trading their 1st round pick to Buffalo for the the 28th Pick, #60, and a 2025 2nd round pick. They have the Colts picking WR Xavier Worthy at #28 , and CB T.J. Tampa at #46. I would not mind that outcome at all.
  3. If the Colts filled a couple of voids with starter level signings in free agency I could envision a trade-up. Now I think a trade back is more in play. Too many question marks, and Ballard likes his his picks.
  4. It possible Bowers may slip some in the first round simply because of the lack of in person on-field validation by team scouts. He did not test at the combine and skipped the Georgia Pro Day with a Hamstring issue. Will not work now until 2 weeks before the draft. So.. hoping he is there at 15.
  5. Ballard on Free Agency: “No doubt we looked into free agency in totality,” Ballard said. “I mean, we looked at everybody. It kind of worked out where it ended up being a lot of our own guys, which are all good players.”
  6. That would be a rearranging deck chairs on the titanic move.
  7. Latest ESPN mock has 5 QB's going before pick #15. They added Bo Nix to Denver at #12. If that came true it would be nothing but good news for the Colts. It also could enhance trade back scenarios for the Colts if another team feels they need to move up to take a shot at someone like Penix Jr. The ESPN Mock has Penix being selected by the Rams at #19. Has the Colts taking CB Arnold at #15. April 25th is fast approaching.
  8. Diggs, Witherspoon, and Simmons are still out there. Hoping... . Simmons would be a good add to a very young secondary. Hoping...Ballard does something here.
  9. Both Texas WR's Mitchell and Xavier heavily scouted by the Colts appear to have both positioned themselves as a 1st round selections after their Pro Day performances. Both are projected to be selected in the early 20's, Another reason to think Ballard may choose to trade back a few slots to acquire additional picks. Veteran additions to the secondary would be a much needed move(s); in the event the young secondary falters or for injury insurance. Seems like the team is very much exposed at the Safety position. The Colts really need a competent coverage linebacker as well. The next couple of FA signings could well signal the direction of the upcoming draft. Tyler Nubin is currently the highest rated Safety in the draft and is expected to be a 2nd round selection. Nubin is rated as high as #25 in the draft overall. Nubin's unofficial RAS score however is 2.91 He is followed by Javon Bullard #48 and Jaden Hicks #61. Bullard has positional versatile in the secondary and runs 4.47, but is 5'10' 198 lbs. Here it should be noted that CB Terrion Arnold arrived at Alabama as a 5 star Safety recruit. Behind LB/Edge Dallas Turner : Payton Wilson and Jeremiah Trottier Jr. maintain both high pass coverage and overall grades. Wilson is a riser and expected to be a late 1st to 2nd round selection. He is the fastest of the Linebackers at 4.43 and ran a 10 yard split of 1.54. Productivity is there with 138 tackles this past season at 6'4" 230. RAS Score is 9.81. He is also older with an injury history. Trottier does well in pass coverage, but lacks high tackling grades. Unless Ballard chooses to go with one of the higher ranked CB's or go strictly BPA, it would seem that WR would be very much on the table as the first selection - especially in a trade back scenario.
  10. Regarding your list, it was interesting that PFF latest mock today had BTJ going at #12 and the Colts selecting Mitchell at #15 -- with Bowers and Arnold still on the Board. I would really hope that the Colts would not pass on Bowers if he was there and Thomas was gone.
  11. Good post. Without out a trade-up, which I think will not happen, I believe only Arnold and BTJ may be there at at 15 - with BTJ most likely. Despite the obvious needs on defense, I am on the WR train. I think it would only help Taylor and the run game, as well as leverage AR's physical tools. I think the defensive secondary would benefit from some veteran additions. Although drafting 15 is not ideal for one of the top we's on this draft. I hope Ballard makes it a priority to secure a day one stretch-the- field starter at WR opposite Pittman. As it stands, I believe this would have the biggest on the field impact heading into the season for the Colts.
  12. I hope he stays at 15 - he will get a top 10 overall positional player (non QB) in this draft. Translation- a chance for a true difference maker on the roster.
  13. NBC Sports: “Turner has -210 odds to be the first defensive player drafted, making him a heavy favorite over Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who is next at +400. Florida State pass rusher Jared Verse is next at +650.‘
  14. Ballard needs to be judged on his record. He has not hit on nearly enough of his draft picks to to stay dug in on almost exclusively draft only team construction with few exceptions. Have a lot of respect for his "Value Board" drafting, but he has not been drafting the next Antoine Bethea's in the 6th round(s) either. He has often been blinded by athletic traits (RAS) over on the field instincts and productivity. The odds will generally always work against him when he misses on a mid round pick and the positional depth consists of UFA's. There is no GM even close to perfect in the draft which is why a good majority cover their sins by other means outside of the draft. Ballard has moved his chips to the middle of the table with his legacy draft pick - AR. What is the value in a wait until we see how it works approach. He is young and by standards very inexperienced with a small college resume. Ballard should be doing everything conceivable to surround him, especially with at least some concern about his durability dating back to his college career. Ballard hit the mark when he said the team needs to get more explosive. Well.... I hope he has the draft of his life. Filling the needs of impactful players in the secondary. pass rush, quality OL depth. and a stretch the field receiver (Still Waiting)- to leverage AR's cannon arm - all becomes a tall order to fill in a seven round draft and post June cuts. It is a stubborn approach that has yielded the record he carries today.
  15. Texans had less remaining CAP space than the Colts.
  16. TOP 30 VISIT : The Indianapolis Colts are adding another player to their top 30 visit list, with Northern Iowa DT 🤔 Khristian Boyd set to come to Indy.
  17. Was never suggesting we sign either one. Just throwing out info on two former Colts. Cheers!
  18. The Titans still have roughly 46 mil in cap space. all others in the division in the 16-22 mil range.
  19. Fodder: PFF Current Free Agent Rankings 46. LB SHAQUILLE LEONARD, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 47. CB ROCK YA-SIN, BALTIMORE RAVENS
  20. It's kind of amazing really. How the offseason can be conducted as if the team is already a consistent playoff caliber team. I totally get the not overspend argument, but the Colts have made their own players the highest paid at their position several times. QB, OT, DE. WR, CB, positions remain a steadfast part of the winning formula. The team is 54-60-1 since 2017 with no division titles. It's still a great strategy to resign your own but is that winning you a division? At what point does the current team building strategy get the team anything more than it has gotten them. Yes, we all are counting on AR to be the difference maker he is projected to be, but teams in the South have all added good young QB's as well. And look to be more aggressively building around them. There are too many areas of need to not use free agency to least strengthen the depth of the team. Ballard is well locked in and continues to do very well on draft day - give credit where it is due. The question remains. how many off-season cycles do you go through before the plan is accelerated outside of the draft or before the prime years of your current core expire and you enter a rebuild. Personally, I would have thought an accelerated plan would have been initiated after the selection of Richardson.
  21. 38 Days until the NFL draft. Same Off-Broadway script playing out until then.
