It's primarily packages and rotations IMO. And TE and RB are check down dump offs a lot.

Take a good look at his passing charts (free via Nextgen), and some things are very obvious. One of the biggest things, is lack of attempts (to anyone) up the seam. He might be hitting Doyle all over the place, but won't touch him when he's open in the seam. Rogers runs a lot in the seams (superman provided a screen shot of one) while another WR crosses and he's frankly invisible it seems (pardon the pun). He's struggled big time with that ever since college. That, along with getting stuck on progressions (and to locked into pre-snap plan), and struggles with deep throws (especially to the sideline) is well documented. Take a read of his NFL combine profile. 95% of the stuff you see discussed here is laid out there too.

Yes, but it does mean that he doesn't rely on one receiver, which is the part that's relevant to this thread

If you look closely at the numbers along with watching the reads, He's typically going to the 1st read, and sometimes 2nd, which both are typically TY and TE. He was a little better vs bad passing Ds (Houston, ATL, Oakland).

Well then he has diverse first and second reads. I'm not disagreeing with you that sometimes he doesn't look beyond that, but the fact is that this year he has completed passes to at least 8 different receivers every game. That doesn't necessarily mean that he is great at going through his reads — I attribute that more to us using very diverse packages and rotations — but it does mean that he doesn't rely on one receiver every game

But as the poster said, if he missed every kick for the next 5 years.  So if he went 0-30 for 5 years straight and 0-30 in extra points for 5 years, first the Colts would be a laughing stock and second his career numbers would suffer allot.   It would certainly affect his status as a legend.   He could still be thought of as the best of all time.

Yeah it'd affect his status cause it would affect how we would remember him, but he'd still be the GOAT. This is kind of a pointless debate though

So what you’re saying is you are quoting yourself quoting your version of what I said?

Yes? Does it matter anyways? And I didn't quote my version, I directly quoted your quote

I've thought Doyle would make a serviceable FB, so it was interesting that they put Nelson in there as a legitimate receiving option. Would have been the play of the year to see his TD celebration...

Instead we got the Catch of the Year so far... bummer...

(I'm being facetious, I wanted a Q touchdown as well lol)

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2856298-br-untold-stories-antonio-cromartie-believes-colts-cut-him-for-kneeling

Former NFL cornerback Antonio Cromartie told Bleacher Report's Master Tesfatsion that he believes the Indianapolis Colts cut him during his final season in the league because he chose to protest social injustice and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

"It ain't have nothing to do with my age, it ain't have nothing to do with my style of play," he said. "It was because I took a knee."

Cromartie revealed former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano asked the team not to take a knee during the 2016 campaign and said "when we go out on the football field, it's about football."

The cornerback took offense to that because the Colts made such a point of stressing how there were things more important than football when the head coach was diagnosed with leukemia during the 2012 season.

Cromartie said his best friend and former New York Jets teammate Joe McKnight was killed by a white man who had been angered by McKnight's driving in what was deemed a manslaughter. The 35-year-old Cromartie added that he was worried about his sons being in a similar situation.

The trend of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem started with Colin Kaepernick in the 2016 preseason. He told NFL Media after the game, "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."

Cromartie first knelt during the anthem in Week 3 against the then-San Diego Chargers, and he told Tesfatsion that team executives told him to get up. They also asked him not to kneel during a Week 4 game in London, and he was benched at halftime after he did.

Despite being released after those four games, the cornerback said he doesn't regret his decision to kneel and that he was happy to provide a voice for those who did not have the same type of platform.

Cromartie played for the Chargers, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Colts from 2006 through 2016 and was a four-time Pro Bowler.

Either way (if it was because of kneeling/or because he was trash and got benched) I'm proud of Pagano for keeping it about football, not personal beliefs.

He does make a point that we paid him a lot of money to be a depth CB that would get cut when everyone got healthy.

Or that was just Grigson being stupid. Either way.

I know you view the Adam V as a demi-god, "legend", "the guy that should be the face of the Colts" but every story comes to an end. This is a business.

I don't want to remember Vinny like this.. Maybe you want to see this guy fall into the Abyss.

I ask you if a rookie performed this poorly but made a "55 yard game winner" would you still hold his jock?

"You can't be trusted when you're living in the past"- Public Enemy

This poorly being one missed XP and one missed field goal that may have been missed on purpose. Lol

2nd play, 2nd and 4, pass to Hilton missed.  Everyone was covered, coulda ran behind Nelson.

Unless you think it was an RPO or that it was obvious that everyone was going to be covered before Brissett snapped it (I'm not even sure that that's possible), I don't know how we can switch the play mid-play and hand the ball off

We lost the Chargers game. That loss (being in the L column) may hurt us down the road, when they take such factors as wins and losses into consideration when determining seeding. The other point was saying we can’t afford to not score points when given the chance. Beyond that I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Every loss hurts us, but you specifically said that it's starting to look worse (in other words, affect our playoff seeding further) than when it first happened

“I don’t care...” = your feelings. I cant refute your feelings, it’s how you feel. Therefore pointless to try.

    ??

I don't care is another way of saying the factor doesn't matter in the long run to the course of action recommended, but obviously I'm not gonna say that cause that's long and clunky and most people know what I don't care means

Consistently good player are even better. :D

I know I won't feel confident in any FG or XP the rest of this year.    I hadn't felt like that for over a decade.

Oddly enough, I feel confident in field goals, but not confident in XPs. I just don't like the way Vinny hits those nowadays. But he hasn't had much trouble with field goals past the first 2 weeks, other than the 45 yarder against the Broncos, and even then he may have changed the direction of his kick because of that dude coming up the middle.

    Simple:

UDFA, UDFA, UDFA, 6th rounder, 5th rounder.

Funchess and Ebron were cast offs from the teams that drafted them.  Consistency maybe?

    Campbell, a 3rd rounder, is a rookie.

Funchess has been hurt since Week 1.

Also, Campbell is a 2nd rounder, not a 3rd rounder

which games have you seen him lined up as a linebacker? His snaps have come with his hand in the ground at defensive end.

I believe I saw him a few times at linebacker, especially when Leonard was out.

Idk... judging from the overall reaction I may have just missed it or maybe I'm delusional or something

  13. Once again...

You said "That chargers game may end up costing us more than we know when the end of the season comes."

My understanding was that you were talking about the significance of the Chargers game in relation to seeding and standings.

I then replied that the Chargers game is looking less and less important since the Chargers are looking less and less like contenders.

You then stated that he cannot leave points on the board against good teams. I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something, or if I'm being slow, but how is that relevant to how significant the Chargers game was?

    15 hours ago, bluebombers87 said:

You were very clearly talking about later in the season. I was talking about later in the season. I was referencing the fact that in the chargers game he left 7 points in the field and yesterday left 4 points on the field. Can’t do that against good teams and expect to win.

  14. 15 hours ago, bluebombers87 said:

I’ve said it before, inconsistent players (especially kickers) are liabilities in this league. That’s fine your feelings say otherwise.

Inconsistent players are better than consistently bad players. Once again, you throw around claims of my points being emotionally influenced without actually refuting them.

  15. 11 hours ago, bluebombers87 said:

4 points in the post season and even late in the year are not something we can just shrug off. Let alone 7. Not with this team. We need all the points we can get.

Huh? What does the importance of points have to do with how important the Chargers game was?

  16. 11 hours ago, bluebombers87 said:

That’s quite the stretch to say I think we should cut him, regardless of the grammatical gymnastics you are using. I very clearly said we shouldn’t as we don’t have a viable replacement and don’t want us to trade for another.

Hes more than a little inconsistent. He’s a liability. Doesn’t mean I’m hating on him. But 77% in this league means he’s a liability. That’s the question of are we ok with this. The last x amount of pages are of how great he is. I was offering a counter opinion that he’s not out of the woods as this last game showed. He’s still Adam but any other kicker and he wouldn’t enjoy this reprieve for the truth. All other factors including his legacy aside, that’s a fact.

The emotion aspect comes into play when you say you don’t care about his inconsistency. Adam is the greatest of all time but the truth is, he is becoming a liability to our ability to win games when he’s leaving points on the field.

Again the argument isn’t about what to do with Adam, it’s about whether the fan base is ready to acknowledge that reality. With how hard it is to kick in bad weather, and that time is coming in the season, fans would be doing a disservice to themselves to not prepare for that fact. All this talk about him being back and that one kick erases all the bad ones is what I’m trying to counter.

I don't think he's a liability. I think if you omit his first 2 games where he had the yips, he's been decent since. A liability doesn't make 55 and 51 yarders, the latter being the game winner.

I don't care about his inconsistency because I'd very obviously rather have an inconsistent kicker versus a plain bad one.

I think the fan base has already acknowledged that Adam is in decline and will probably be gone by the end of the year.

I'm pretty sure he has been getting away with holds all year. It caught up with him hard today. He should have been benched in the first half.

If I were Broncos I would have just tossed it up towards Rock all day. Thankfully they went away from it, for whatever reason.

He held Sutton to 3 catches for 70 something yards. And 2 of those catches were just great chemistry between Flacco and Sutton. Seriously, that one 15 yard hitch or whatever was just impossible to defend.

Yes, he had a few egregious penalties, but when I look back at the game and think of who did the worst, I'm not thinking about our rookie cornerback who was covering their WR1. yes, he was bad, but that's not who I'm focusing on
