Since he was drafted I mean.  He hasn't missed a lot of games in his career, but from my memory it seems like every game the Colts have played in without him, they have lost.

Yes, that's correct. It has actually become a quite popular stat after this loss

The Colts are now 0-7 in games without T.Y. Hilton.

I would of preferred Josh Gordon off waivers, and we would of got him ahead of the Seahawks if Ballard chose too. I do hope we get Cain back though.

He is a headache, but right now we need him badly. I definitely would've been ok with us grabbing him back then, and I definitely wish we grabbed him now with hindsight.

    Oh well...

He's definitely capable, he just doesn't want too, which is aggravating since it limits our playbook. At least be creative with the short game which we aren't doing.

If it's obviously open, he'll do it. And right now it's obviously open. But we also need guys who can stretch the field vertically. Having both TY and Campbell out stings. Maybe we should bring Deon Cain back and use him as a deep threat. Or something. Rodgers is our only legit deep threat right now.

    Here’s an idea:

-Vinny retires or “retires” whichever one

    -New kicker is signed

-Vinny becomes our kicking coach and helps the new guy

Seems like a win-win to me

Also, do the Eagles still need CB help? I’d trade them Quincy Wilson for Jake Elliott in a heartbeat, though I doubt they’d take it.

I was literally thinking the exact same thing yesterday. We should give Vinny 75% of his remaining salary to become a kicking coach. One thing the fans don't see is the locker room. If you watch the videos, Vinny is a locker room leader. I love having him and his experience in there. However, we cannot afford to have him on the field anymore. We just can't. This would be the best thing to do

Brissett never throws it farther then 10-15 yds. He's a game manager and our long-term QB for now. I could care less about Hoyer.

He is at least capable of throwing an accurate ball 20-30 yards downfield. If we can at least open up the field a little bit, that would help a lot in putting pressure off of our pass game.

There are numerous reason for the recent Colts struggles. They include:

    1. Starting QB being out with an injury, and Brian Hoyer being a very limited QB.

    2. T.Y. being out with an injury. This is actually huge. T.Y. is our only real deep threat. With him out of the game, the opposing teams know we will attack with short yardage plays. They can crowd the line and play the short game; stack the box and take away the run game.

    3. The O-line has been overwhelmed with teams stacking the box and blitzing. They're bringing more people than we can block and we haven't adjusted with screens, draws, and hot-routes.

    4. Vinny is consistently missing kicks, which takes away momentum from the Colts, and more importantly, leaving points on the field.

    5. The injuries across the team make it difficult for the coaches to properly game plan. This results in more "vanilla" calls on offense, which are easy to defend, and more cover-2 calls on defense, which are easier to diagnose.

And there's plenty more to list out, but this is an overall picture.

    This. This right here.

What a beautiful post. Completely agree

I agree that winning and losing changes how people feel about a game. But dont put on me what other people were saying and dont out in my other threads that were started. so hes done well vs the 2 best opponents we have played. That is amazing and great and I enjoyed those games immensely. But just like Vinny, just because you have a great past doesn't mean I should kiss your * when you arent doing well.

People like to bring up those 2 games, but that doesn't change the fact that he hasn't changed his game plan for any given team. Run the ball and hope it works! Teams are easily figuring out how to stop our run game. The only team we have actively passed against was the Texans. As for KC it was business as usual.

I'm allowed to call out bad game planning when I see it regardless of past games of good game planning. I never said anything outlandish at all! I never said fire him. I never said I hope hes hone or anything of the like. I simply am calling him out for his unpreparedness for the last 3 games, and afterwards realizing he hasn't called his plays different all year.

There is nothing wrong with what I have said, and we are allowed as fans to call him out when he calls 3 bad games in a row. You can go ahead and get over the fact that other forum members act like the sky is falling. But dont push that onto me like I am one of them.

Have you followed my posts all year? I have been majorly positive and supportive. But 3 games later when you're showing you don't know what strength your team has, allows me to point out your horrible preparedness.

I'm allowed to call Frank out for these things. And I ended my rant. I was clear on what I was doing so you can get over whatever biased thoughts you have going on about me.

And therefore your plan is to have Hoyer pass the ball to Pascal, Rodgers, and Marcus Johnson?

I don't think it was bad gameplanning. Our offensive gameplan was to run the ball. And it worked. What went wrong was that once they stack the box, Hoyer can't throw it for more than 3 yards, and decides that he should chuck it to the end zone every play on that last drive instead of dumping it off to Hines. Oh, and Ebron caught the ball in the end zone and let a DB rip it away from him for an INT. They scored a FG off of that. That's a 10 point swing. Then Vinny missed a XP, forcing us to go for a TD at the end of a game instead of kicking a FG. Potential 4 point swing.

There comes a point where the players have to execute. That loss was on the players, specifically Hoyer, Ebron, and Vinny

The only two games that were actually "impressive" were the Chiefs and Texans. Mahomes was hurt and we were able to control time of possession while they didn't adapt, and the Texans secondary was hurt and we were able to pass all over them. Other than that, the offense has been stale and predictable.

Injuries hurt us, but we've been way too safe. If Brissett won't stop being a game manager, then we need to draft the next Luck. I don't want to try and repeat what Eagles did for 10 more years.

What does Brissett have to do with anything

And i was ready to bench Leonard for all the 3rd and longs they converted on him.
One dumb play by their QB and Leonard is All-Pro again.

    Leonard?

    Darius Leonard?

The guy who had 13 tackles, a sack, an INT, a FF, 2 TFLs, and 2 PDs?

    THAT guy??

Why, because he doesn't throw interceptions? He has to throw down field to have interceptions.

The way he telegraphs his throws, the only reason they don't all get picked off is do to his lack of touch throwing the fastball.

Well Hoyer managed to throw INTs without throwing downfield...

Are we really having this debate right now?? After what we saw from the Dolphins game??? You really think Brissett is that bad????

...not over if we beat the saints. If we lose 2 though, yeah we're done

Edit: technically it wouldn't be over if we lost 2 in a row either as long as we win out from there. But yeah, going at least 2-1 over the stretch would make things a lot easier

I'm merely looking at the big picture, not really a player by player comparison.

Yes, Mack can do more than the other two, but in the offense we had, they did what they were asked to do pretty consistently.  Mack does his thing pretty consistently.  Outside of that one long run, he doesn't make a lot of big plays, and neither did the other guys.  That's what I see.

Same with the defense.  I don't see this defense making a lot of critical stops.  In fact, when the opposing O needs a play, they seem to be able to make it.  I don't see this team having a lot of sacks or field-switching turnovers to give our offense a short field.  Just like I didn't see much of that stuff with the old 34 defense either.

So just like in the old regime, the QB has to carry the offense for about 80 yards.  Luck was better at it than JB for sure, but a QB is supposed to have more help than that.

I truly wonder what you watch. ALL our defense does is get takeaways and red zone stops. And I just don't know what you're talking about with Mack. You said that outside of long runs he doesn't make big plays. But long runs ARE big plays. So you're basically saying that outside of big plays he doesn't make big plays. And the broadcast said that he is like top 5 in runs that get a first down. I mean, you say he does his thing pretty consistently. That seems to contradict the claim that all his yards come from a few long runs.

I think Mack has as much impact as Gore and Bradshaw did.  I think Doyle is a steady option but Luck had him too.  For all of the comments about Dwayne Allen's stone hands, I'll bet his catch rate was never 58% at any point in a season, like Ebron's.  Not sure why he was a better catcher last year.

Our 43 defense makes about as many sacks and turnovers and critical 3rd down stops as did our old 34 defense.  I don't see a big difference when it matters.

The reason this is relevant is that there is a growing atmosphere to quickly point out JBs fault's  (and we dig up tape to explain it), as if they can't be corrected after a half a season; when there was an atmosphere of not mentioning Luck's faults (nobody ever dug up tape to show the inaccurate passes or the wide open check down receiver, IIRC), hardly at all despite the faults existing for 5 years.  The fact they may be different faults isn't relevant.

With all due respect, Gore and Bradshaw never produced anywhere near where Mack has been with the Colts at least.

And no, our defense is not as bad as the 3-4 defense.

Honestly, if our defense has been just as bad as in our mediocre Luck years, our running game has been just as anemic, the pass catching has presumably been just as bad, and the QB play has regressed since Luck's retirement, how are we 5-3? If you truly believe that, the only thing that has improved since those years is our O line play

We need to use Hines in this game just like we used Campbell last week.

Colts win closely 24-17 to a sorry Dolphins team and my hopes for the future of the season are crushed.

Why would they be crushed? If that happened it doesn't tell me anything I don't know, which is that this team is a team that can beat anyone and lose to anyone

  15. A note to anyone saying we should've done a trade for Player X...

Please stop saying we made a mistake trading for someone who wasn't traded. If they weren't traded, you have absolutely no idea what they wanted and whether that would be a good trade.

I'm fine with people saying we should've traded for Sanu, or whoever they want that was traded. But please stop saying we should've traded for Ryan Kerrigan, or AJ Green, or whoever, when we have no idea how reasonable the offers were.
