  1. I expected him to be released but during the offseason…definitely not now.

Something had to have come to head with his displeasure regarding being taken off the field on 3rd downs versus the coaching staff seeing diminished play when he was out there.

Just me thinking out loud here but that whiff on the open field tackle of Elliot in Frankfurt Pats game had to have been brought up during film session and probably led to some “discussions” on both sides.

That was Thursday night ugly. Just like I knew it would be. But we won and I’m always glad to beat Belichick and the Pats.

I think my big reaction coming away from this one is Belichick benching Jones the way he did when he did. 2 minutes to drive 80+ yards for a winning score and you throw the backup QB you’ve cut from your roster once this season already out there?

The only thing Bill could have done to disadvantage Zappe any more today was trip him on his way into the game and then * on him since he was down there.

Talk about thrown to the wolves…

And I’m not saying he was wrong to bench Jones, but there wasn’t anyone who stood to benefit from the timing today. That one came about a quarter too late, or 2 minutes too early. Take your pick.

Gotta wonder if that’s Belichick’s way of tanking?

He knows he has no quarterback, and the only way to get one is to secure one of those top picks

  3. - Minshew was way too skittish in the pocket today.  He is not Patrick Mahomes.  The more throws he makes where his feet are not set, lower body mechanics are off, the more chances there are for INTs, misfires, etc.  I know he did complete some throws this way including the big throw downfield to Downs after the Mac Jones INT, but I think he is going to be more effective if just plays within himself, focuses on his fundamentals when making throws not trying to make hero plays every time he drops back.    The INT he threw on the 1st drive of the 2nd half was a good example of this.   If he had just been decisive there, tucked the ball, ran and slide for a few yards, it is possible a 1st down or at the very least and very manageable 3rd and short.

    - Defense (especially pass rush) was outstanding today, but its the 5th week in a row now where the opponent has averaged over 4.5 yrds/attempt.  Pretty clear they miss Stewart in this area.  The team is fortunate to have faced two QBs the last two weeks who are probably two of the worst starters in league.

    - Overall, gotta give the team, Steichen and the players their credit for being .500 after 10 games.  I think a realistic ceiling for this year was to be competitive (and possible get) one of the lower Wild card spots and it looks like we are going to get that so personally, I can't get too upset with how this season has turned out from a results prespective.

It's super basic. And what's worse? They did the same exact plays last night against the Bears: send the receivers down in a line, have them stop and turn around... Booooorrrrrriiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg.

Nobody is scared of that offense.

Not defending Reich because the QB school video is pretty damning, but one has to wonder how much of those route concepts are due to the Panthers not having dudes who can win with speed, change of direction, etc.

I will say that video does illustrate why the all 22 is so crucial when evaluating QB play especially because it does give context as to why Young looked so bad last week even outside of the INTs to Moore.
