Disappointed in the pass defense so far…playing a rookie QB and we haven’t done anything to make things difficult from a coverage standpoint. This is the game to get aggressive on blitzing and tight coverage and force Levis to make plays
The one time we do get a turnover, the DB (Blackmon) doesn’t hold on through a hit

We gotta away with one there.. that’s a PI

What the heck kind of coverage was that??? third and long you play 15 yards off the receiver

Regardless if that’s incomplete or not, someone needs to chew Blackmon out for that. That’s unacceptable to fumble that.
yes 100% spot on- 1

3rd and long coming up…defense needs to take advantage and get off the field
-
Needless to say, the defense has to be much much better than what they showed that first drive to have any chance to win this game.

Way to show up, defense

Steichen had made some big coaching mistakes in this game that will probably cost us the game. I mean run the damn ball and his clock management was terrible in that 2 minute drill. I don't blame that miss on Matt Gay I blame Steichen on that one for terrible clock management. I've continued to say it and I always have and always will say Minchew will not win a game for you we are going to have to run the ball to win games end of story. So as you can see I'm very upset with Steichen right now.
I think Steichen has done a lot of good things this year, but his maddening lack of recognition that this team (without explosive talent at quarterback) has to play conservative, limit, turnovers, run the ball to put themselves in the best position to win games has put them in bad spots multiple times. -

25 attempts from Minshew
4 carries for Taylor.
Very strange
Oof…that is not what I would call a winning play calling recipe for this team

Sure hope they’re just giving Taylor a break…..
Yeah …the RB rotation makes no sense to me.

If we can stop some of these gashing run plays, I like our chances on D…Mayfield has been pretty inaccurate after that 1st drive
-
Bucs look like they have found something here with running straight up the middle.
Grover Stewart’s absence continues to be felt
-
Steichen needs to get a grip on the pass happy play calling.

Gotta take care of the ball and Baker needs to get the INT there
-
I expected him to be released but during the offseason…definitely not now.
Something had to have come to head with his displeasure regarding being taken off the field on 3rd downs versus the coaching staff seeing diminished play when he was out there.
Just me thinking out loud here but that whiff on the open field tackle of Elliot in Frankfurt Pats game had to have been brought up during film session and probably led to some “discussions” on both sides.

That was Thursday night ugly. Just like I knew it would be. But we won and I’m always glad to beat Belichick and the Pats.
I think my big reaction coming away from this one is Belichick benching Jones the way he did when he did. 2 minutes to drive 80+ yards for a winning score and you throw the backup QB you’ve cut from your roster once this season already out there?
The only thing Bill could have done to disadvantage Zappe any more today was trip him on his way into the game and then * on him since he was down there.
Talk about thrown to the wolves…
And I’m not saying he was wrong to bench Jones, but there wasn’t anyone who stood to benefit from the timing today. That one came about a quarter too late, or 2 minutes too early. Take your pick.
Gotta wonder if that’s Belichick’s way of tanking? He knows he has no quarterback, and the only way to get one is to secure one of those top picks

- Minshew was way too skittish in the pocket today. He is not Patrick Mahomes. The more throws he makes where his feet are not set, lower body mechanics are off, the more chances there are for INTs, misfires, etc. I know he did complete some throws this way including the big throw downfield to Downs after the Mac Jones INT, but I think he is going to be more effective if just plays within himself, focuses on his fundamentals when making throws not trying to make hero plays every time he drops back. The INT he threw on the 1st drive of the 2nd half was a good example of this. If he had just been decisive there, tucked the ball, ran and slide for a few yards, it is possible a 1st down or at the very least and very manageable 3rd and short.
- Defense (especially pass rush) was outstanding today, but its the 5th week in a row now where the opponent has averaged over 4.5 yrds/attempt. Pretty clear they miss Stewart in this area. The team is fortunate to have faced two QBs the last two weeks who are probably two of the worst starters in league.
- Overall, gotta give the team, Steichen and the players their credit for being .500 after 10 games. I think a realistic ceiling for this year was to be competitive (and possible get) one of the lower Wild card spots and it looks like we are going to get that so personally, I can't get too upset with how this season has turned out from a results prespective.

Once again, horrible clock management. This is getting ridiculous Coach
Yes they could have possibly ran it up the middle called TO and set up a shorter FG- 1

Yeah when Richardson comes back next year lol.
This may not be a popular opinion, but I think AR would have struggled more if he was playing today. BBs defenses traditionally confuse young QBs

Minshew looks rough today.
He is definitely having some issues recognizing where the pressure is coming from and where to go with the ball.Belichek’s defenses tend to do that to a lot of QBs
His scrambling ability has saved him/bought him some time on a few instances.

What a difference with an effective pass rush so far.
If you can generate pressure with 4, it becomes a lot easier to execute the defensive scheme -
D-line is feasting today!

Colts got away from running the ball in last series.
Too much Minshew passing is not a formula for success for this offense
