  1. There the market has been set. The Giants offered 13 mill and that is a fair offer as they know the market. Barkley is a better overall back than Taylor, so I am thinking maybe 11 a year but I am all for letting it play out and franchising for another.
  2. I actually think there are about 20 backs that r kind of inter changeable. I could take anyone od them and be happy
  3. When i watched some of the great backs, AD, Sanders, Bo, OJ, and Earl just to name a few, I walk away amazed by their talent. It maybe just me but when i watched Emmitt, I came away thinking man what a dominant offensive line and personnel. I was never wowed by him. I always thought he maybe one of the most over rated players
  4. So you tell me that if have Emmitt playing with the Chicago teams that supported Payton and/or the Rams teams that OJ played for, Emmitt is still a top 10 back? I dont and it aint close. All those backs you listed were superior runners, greater physical talents, faster players than Emmitt ever was. PS, I think ranking rbs one to 10 is kind of silly as they all played with different teams, talents and schemes.
  5. It will go public as they always do. IF the contract is seen as unfair by the player ,his agent will leak it. If the players request is seen as unfair by the player, the team will leak it. I agree they rarely leak it but i think this one will be contentious
  6. Well let's see when the contract offer is out out in public. That will show how much the Colts value him.
  7. I was never an Emmitt fan.i would rate a lot of rbs ahead of him. Many rbs that I have higher never had the Oline or talent around them but had amazing careers.
  8. "Campbell could run 100 meters in 10.5 seconds, a more-than-respectable time for many a lithe wide receiver, but downright unfair when paired with his wrecking-ball physique and practiced technique (he always ran with his head and shoulders low to the ground, what some coaches call “good body lean”).Apr 1, 2015
  9. I would have even averaged a solid 3.5 behind that line lol Earls my favorite behind Bo Jackson. Hell I might even have him ranked higher lol
  10. Different eras. Today's football is pass oriented. There is no way I am paying elite rb money to a rb who cannot pass blocking or is a average at pass catching. Doesn't make sense to me. Te's who are not good blockers but elite pass catcher's make elite money. Te' who are elite pass blockers but average pass catchers don't make elite money. We r in different eras. Like one GM said. Barkley used to be a poor pass blocker. When he was in the game, teams would blitz or knew it was a run play because he was so poor at pass blocking. So yes pass blocking and pass catching matters greatly in terms of expanding the play book as it relates to your rb. My point is this. It's 3 and 5 and do u put Taylor in the game? His limitations at pass blocking and pass catching would allow the defense to have the advantage in terms of play calling. Its a chess game and unless he has improved in those areas, no thanks.
  11. Nope, but based on Philly's us of their backs. If he were to pay a rb say 13 mill a year, he would have to be elite at everything. Just hunch.
  12. I think people really forget what Steichen wants from his rb. Does he want to pay a rb 13 million a year who cannot pass block and is an average pass catcher? To get that kind of money, a rb to me needs to be elite in all facets of the game. Taylor is not.
  13. Why hitch Richarsdon to him? U have this year and u can franchise him for another. That's 2 years and by the end of year 2, we should have a pretty good idea where we are at with Richardson. He may be a star in the making, and we no longer need Taylor. Richardson could be a bust, and then again, we don't need Taylor. Let it play out.
  14. you just dont give Taylor oodles of money because you have no one else worthy of a contract. You give him what the market dictates
  15. I consider the whole picture and not just his ability to run the ball. I have no issue in paying a weapon in the back field and not a one tick poney. In today's NFL it is paramount that your rb has the ability to run block and pass catch or he is not worth signing long term.
  16. I think Steichen is going to have a lot of say in the offensive personnel. I think look at the Eagles and that's the blue print. Taylor is poor at pass blocking and an average pass catcher. He had one great year running the ball and 2 average years. I really don't get the need to sign him long term. He hasn't proved anything as of yet.
  17. I meant let him play out this year and tag next year if the Colts choose to. I wouldn't be opposed to letting him play on his last year and letting him walk. It really depends on Richardson's progress. If he is still struggling, they may want Taylor back for one more year after this year to give Taylor some stability. If Richardson excels, I am all for looking for Taylor's replacement in 2024
  18. The running game back market has been set. The GMs have a dollar figure they are comfortable with and apparently Jacob's, Barkley and I assume Taukor want north of that figure. So play on the tag and we can say goodbye in a year or in Taylor's case 2 years.
  19. Agreed. I would never offer him a contract this year. Don't make the Nelson mistake all over again. I love Taylor as a runner but I am comfortable letting it play out and franchising him.
  20. I listened to one gm on Barkley. He had the same problem early on. He was such a por pass blocker that teams knew it was a running play when he was in the game. He has evolved and is now a complete back. JT is not but we shall c.
  21. I don't think it happens. I think Steichen will say no. Define special.
  22. Is he maybe a better runner that Chris? He maybe however u r basing all your comparisons on one great year from Taylor and Chris has a much stronger resume and is a complete back. For example u could give Taylor a 9 in running the ball and Chris an 8. Now when it comes to pass catching it ain't close and thats why he is far more complete back and today's game, pass catching matters.
  23. I think u r forgetting that he had one elite year. It's no laugable. I called him maybe an elite runner but that is on one year. To me if u want to call him an elite player, he needs to elite at pass blocking and pass catching. Is elite in those areas? He is not and that is why I don't call him elite plus he had one great year and I don't call players elite after one great year.
