I said i would give him a 2nd chance, however no players are developing to where I think they should be based on where they were drafted. I also dont agree with resigning Taylor. I dont give a GM credit for drafting a generational guard and then oh my god, he becomes all pro. I dont think I ever said I didnt give him credit for drafting Leonard. I just dont value Leonard nearly as much as others on this forum. I said it way back that the linebacker in this defense is replaceable, ala Franklin, with modest draft capital. I said i would have traded Darius and would not have extended him.

Yea, Ballard hired Steichen. My point is this. I think at the end of the season this will happen. Irsay will see that the success of this team is directly related to Steichen's ability as a coach. The failures of this team will be because of the lack of talent on this roster drafted by Ballard . Not hard to comprehend. I actually think Steichen is a type A and won't let inferior players and/ front office personnel stand in his way. By the end of the season, Steichen will have more influence than Ballard, and I believe that will cause some tension. Irsay will choose Steichen and Steichen will bring his own guy. U can love or hate Ballard, but u cannot argue with his overall record and his inability to draft game changing players after 8 years.

Read my post. He is to blame for constructing this defense 8 years later. Do I blame him for this loss? Well, let's just say if we had an elite pass rusher and a cover corner, we probably win. We don't, and that's my issue with him. The only elite player he has gotten 8 years later is Buckner, and that was thru a trade.

People want to focus on the penalties and the loss. I focus on the plays before the penalties. Wide-open in the middle. U could tell the Browns were targeting the corner. He sucks and he cannot cover. People want to focus on the penalty and not on the lack of talent on this defence. Penalties or not, they cannot close out a game. Win or lose going forward, this D needs to be retooled in terms of scheme, coaching and talent. Sure, blame the penalties but I am going to blame Ballard.

Anyone watching this game should finally realize why he doesn't blitz more. U put the back end in man coverage and they struggle, get burned and/ or give mug receivers.
