  1. Please no........if the mantra "competition, earn your spot" is to be believed it has to apply to the coaches too......they've done nothing to develop young players since 2012.  I don't want pags and company anywhere near our '18 draft class.  Time to move on....

  2. Don't  over think it.....bottom line, the only thing Pags is actually good at is keeping his job.  And he's very, very good at it.......if he could scheme on the field the way he does in the conference room, we'd already have the multiple Lombardis we desire.  I think Mr. irsay either didn't find a suitable replacement, or maybe he didn't want to make a hasty decision in a single off-season on a GM and HC, or maybe he just wanted fresh eyes on Chuck .....he's been trying desperately, and admirably  (imo), to keep some sort of continuity here.  In any case, this year has confirmed what we've known for the past few, Chuck Pagano as HC is a fraud. The colts will move on in 2018 and be better for it.

  3. I just hope he's ok "longterm".  I respect the organization for placing the 100% healthy condition on his return.  He's earned that at least.  After carrying the Pagano era, and fan's hopes for the last +/- 5 years whilst getting the *@%$ knocked out of him, kid deserves a break......I do want to watch him for years to come.....*Downer Alert*....Even if he's not a Colt (amid "trade him" vs. "wants out of Indy" talk) I still hope he has a decade of success and multiple championships in the NFL.

  4. I'm an advocate of being as patient as you can be.  We all HAVE to be, but we've had a Mathis (player and pass rush consultant), we've had a Wayne, we've had 5 years to draft and develop talent......and as far as a leader in the locker room, how about the head coach?  Shouldn't he be leading with or without Luck? The product on the field is trash and has been for 3 years.....there is ALWAYS potential but it has been burried under this head coach since he took over.  Blame Grigson, or coordinators, or position coaches, or whoever you want, (we have and many have been fired and replaced)  but at some point coaches have to develop talent, or at least scheme to the strenghts of the talent they have.....Hasn't happened.....won't happen under Pags.  I like your optimism, and wish I could share it, but this isn't year one.......

  5. I think you nailed it on both counts. Starts with coaching and ends with personal accountability.  It's amazing how far this franchise has fallen.  It's to the point where there isn't really anything left to say.  This IS Colts football.......Personally I'm looking to the future.  The bright spots are there, I believe Ballard has us moving in the right direction.  Just going to take time.

  6. Sadly over the past few years I think we've seen the ceiling of Colts football in the Pagano era.  Uneven preparation, rotating door for coordinators/position coaches (gm's), players (absolute zero in terms of player development). The negativity isn't based soley on last week's loss.  The fact that we're congratulating the colts on an impressive defeat to a struggling team and saying things like "8 and 8 isn't a losing season" shows how deeply the culture within the organization we all love has sunk.  "Its hard to win on this league", "we won't make excuses but....." & "credit the *other team*" are not mantras of a franchise concerned with championships.......i'd love to be wrong but based on the past few seasons, I don't think I am.  I pray Ballard has his eyes and Irsay's ears wide open.  6 years of this is enough.  We need someone with steel in his GD spine to lead us back to the peak from where we have fallen.......

  7. I really don't think "tanking" is part of the equation.  What is going on tho is a lot of evaluating, Luck being sidelined is actually going to help with that process.  I think the timeline always allowed for Andrew to miss the first month or so to let Ballard see what Pagano and Co could do with the fresh talent. Even with Luck out, competent coaching and player development should have made 2-2, given the schedule, attainable.  As a fanbase this year may be painful but I have to believe, with the hiring of Ballard,  we are building for the long term.  That starts with clear eyed evaluation everyone from gm down.  Let the chips fall where they may this year and [shudder] trust the process.

  8. I think there is a large enough sample size to determine that this IS colts football under Coach Pagano.  Consistently unprepared.  Far too often it's, "Credit *other team*  out played us in all three phases: offense, defense, and special teams.  We'll look at the tape, correct what needs to be corrected."  Is it playing to anyone?  I'm not trying to troll, I'm genuinely curious as to why any of us should be optimistic that the colts are anything other than what we've seen for the last three years.

  9. The most positive thing for the long term health of this organization is that this coaching staff is being evaluated by a fresh set of eyeballs.  No GM left to blame, no more coordinators to fire, no superstar QB to hide behind, just bare bones,  "can you win in this league?".  I know this is painful kids but this is good for the Colts.......
