They usually take advantage of his positioning and throw a short out or an in cut route. I know what you mean and I don't think he's coming back, but he should be able to stay in enough shape to play press at 29(?). Patrick Peterson is older and much much better. Work ethic involved there.

Peterson is 2 years younger. And has always been the better athlete.

Based on what? He had better completion% and nearly as many yards in 10 fewer attempts. His sacks are accounted for with the garbage oline, and he avoided more sacks than he took. He made more big plays than hoyer did as well.

Luck, barely above average. if you want to look at averages of QB's, luck is below on completion percentage%, below average in int% and sack ratee(that's a bad below average).

But is above average on td and td% and yards.

I don't hate luck, but so many people here are absolutely blind to how average he plays and actually think he's a top 5 qb. He just plain isn't.

Andy Benoit, who is one of the best media persons out there when it comes to evaluating film, thinks he's elite.

And not just that, he talks tolot of executives and coaches around the league and said on one of the MMQB podcasts this past summer that no one in the NFL thinks of Luck as anything less than elite player.

  3. I knew the Pack would win in regulation after the 'Boys scored their final TD with so much time on the clock.. what Aikman indicated too, heck Jerrah more or less said the same thing after the game.

That fade to Bryant was so ridiculously stupid decision.

Did Garrett forget how they lost in the divisonal round last year to the Packers?

Idk who's available but we need to drop money on the O-line

It will likely be very bad group. Quite possibly the worst O-line FA class this decade.

Nate Solder is the only starting caliber tackle that has his contract expiring this year and he's been terrible so far to start the season.

Mewhort, Pugh, Kline (from TEN), Omameh and Norwell are the only real starting caliber guards projected to be FAs that aren't over 30. Pugh is the only guy I'd rank in the top 20 among all guards in the NFL. Maybe Norwell if he has really good year.

    Why do you expect that?

Seattle D gassed badly at the end. While I guess it's theoretically possible that Colts could control the TOP like the Titans did early on, this game is projected to have 30F less temperature. I think the almost 90 degree heat along with early offensive struggles were just too much on the Seahawks D at the end.

Maybe that's why I'm not as upset as some, didn't he help Manning win his last SB?

Yes, and played crucial role in covering James White in the AFCCG against the Pats. Broncos struggled mightily covering backs last year in the passing game without him.

I agree.  I think if he really was trying to knock the ball out, he should have taken a page from fellow Bear Tillman and punched at it instead of leading with his helmet.

I think a hefty fine is in order.  I don't know about a suspension, though.  Is Trevathan a repeat offender?

No, he doesn't have history of anything like this and isn't known as a dirty player either.

Other than being a former Bronco haha

  8. Pretty good chance you are correct IMO.

Seattle at Tennessee poses the biggest risk. Orakpo, Morgan and Casey are going to slaughter that so called 'offensive line' of the Seahawks. Wilson needs to run for his life and make good decisions and their D needs to stop the run in that game.

Ravens will stop Fournette and will make Bortles try to beat them against their stout pass D.. We've seen that story before and know how it goes..

Texans and BoB are not going to beat the Pats at Foxborough.

  9. I forgot about Kline. One of the rare players who has done better outside of NE. If the market really explodes, there are too big concerns about Mewhorts health and/or Pugh is re-signed by the Giants, he'd be in my next tier of targets. Not a great player but not a liability either.

Giants probably want to keep Pugh but they aren't exactly swimming in cap space and Pugh has shown versatility by playing decently at RT too. He should be very sought out player. If I were him, I'd hit the FA to see what's out there for the best FA olineman in a very oline-needy league. Franchise tag number for olineman will probably be in the range of 15M too.

  10. Not into predictions, so will just make my early wishlist.

    RB: Crowell or Hyde

WR: Sign one of Watkins/Adams/Richardson/A-Rob/Lee/Jeffery.. I guess I'm ok with extending Moncrief too if price tag is reasonable.

OG: Extend Mewhort or sign Justin Pugh

DE: Jernigan or Easley.. Wilkerson will probably be cut too.. I'd be interested on him if it's a 1 yr deal.

CB: Tru Johnson or Malcolm Butler.. would be ok with EJ Gaines, Nevin Lawson, Aaron Colvin or Brashad Breeland if the first 2 are too expensive or don't want to come here.

I hate to see the Colt resign Mewhort based on potential, which translates to more money. He`s been hurt about as much as he`s played. I`m sure there are varying opinions on Mewhort, but the Colts seem to struggle with injuries and he has a history of it. I would not overpay for him nor think the Colts should.

With the state of offensive lines around the league, I think it's pretty likely that one needs to overpay to keep a good olineman. Mewhort will be a rich man next March. Whether the money comes from the Colts or someone else, remains to be seen. The long-term health of his knee does concern me but FA options at OL are going to be pretty bad next year.

  11. 2014 draft was stacked in WR talent, so I think Colts could keep him cheaper or find replacement in FA easier in next FA than it usually would be. Guys like Jeffery will be FAs too.

Sammy Watkins, Taylor Gabriel, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Jordan Matthews, Jarvis Landry, Paul Richardson, Davante Adams, John Brown, Martavis Bryant.. All of them except John Brown are 25 or younger too.

Arizona, aside from Peterson, apparently have a weak secondary from what I've hear. Heck even Peterson got torched today against Detroit. If that's the case, our receivers have to find ways to get open to make Brissett's job easier. And some support from the O line would be great (although they weren't as bad today as they usually are).

Their #2 corner is a big issue. Secondary overall isn't that bad, mainly because of Peterson and Mathieu, along with solid players at safety. The corner opposite of Peterson has been torched badly in the past couple of years and from what I saw in preseason (haven't seen the Lions game yet), that hasn't changed.

As for positives, what has been said here. Run D, Mack and Gore looked good.

Chris Collingsworth emphasized last night that not only are their new players on NE but a lot of new players. So, what if anything does that mean? Did they over extend themselves with new players? Did they not do their homework? Did they just get too confident in their abilities? Or did they just have one bad game like everyone else and will come back and go back to the SB this year?

Cassius Marsh, DE, acquired from Seattle was trying to cover Hunt on thatlong receiving touchdown. Gilmore also got beat badly. Pats rarely have breakdowns like that.

But Nate Solder and Brady indicated that many guys are complacent, there might be some locker room issues in NE. Solder said something about many Pats players realizing how hard it really is to win and Brady about some wrong attitude stuff or something.

Anyone ever see Pats get stopped fourth and a foot before?? 4th and 2...sure...fourth and a foot with the greatest qb sneaker ever? Dumb founded.

I think it happened against the Broncos a couple of years back, once or twice. But rear for sure.

I expect Hightower to be back....but Van Noy and Bates?? that came in....yeah did not look adequate at all....far cry from Pat LBs of years past. That versatility has always been their calling card. Flowers, Brown, Branch are decent but they don't have much depth. The secondary was inexcusable. That was a surprise. Blown coverage obviously on the Hill TD. The one to the RB was on the LB though....just got burnt. Not saying it was a great performance but I'm far less concerned there. Pats will score enough points that the defense just needs to bend not break. Usually the Pats may give up yards but not points (hold to fgs)...obviously last night turn a couple tds to fgs and that game might have had a different outcome.

Offensively do you expect with Amendola out likely a few weeks with a concussion that they go to more two TE sets with Hogan and Cooks on the outside. I don't know who else you can really bring in at WR with Dorsett so far behind in the game plan. I thought Allen played well last night and look to see him get more involved....and obviously Dorsett will now have every opportunity if he can learn to make plays...no excuses.

I agree with your post, except the bolded.. That LB was Cassius Marsh, acquired via trade a week ago from Seattle.. where he played DE. That was on the coaching staff for putting him in that position.
