  1. Definitely have to keep Reitz.  He is way to valuable and versatile.  If Mack opts out I think he goes for the money and goes to Jacksonville and we sign Stefan W.  Then we sign a starting guard as well and the line is upgraded big time. We will definitely sign a starting corner and that could be it. If they could also find a way to sign a linebacker Irvin or Upshaw that would be perfect..That would give us plenty of freedom in the draft.  I think it would take a lot of cost cutting moves to get all four but three should not be a problem.

  2. I don't know what their waiting for.  They just finished completing the coaching staff today.  Hopefully they can get started on their off season moves.  These two are the obvious ones. Going to be very interesting on our other players.  Maybe restructuring  or cutting and resigning DQ and AJ. I don't know all the numbers but it's probably being looked at if nothing else.  By the way Martin and Kelly are projected to start right away at center. I would be happy with either one.  Again it all comes down to FA.

  3. I think our owner has made it very clear that we need to protect and help Andrew Luck.  He is going to get a huge contract and we don't need him out rehabbing injuries like last year.  You can bet that is going to be a huge priority in free agency and the draft.  I think they can help both but the biggest need will be the OL.

  4. Mike has Stanford's Joshua Garnett as the third ranked offensive guard.  He thinks he could come in and start right away for an NFL team.  Considering how much we focus on Stanford players I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with the Colts. Maybe 2nd. or 3rd. round?  Depending on what we do in free agency on the OL the number one ranked center from Alabama, Ryan Kelly,  would be a great pick too.

  5. I think he is going to be our pick at 18 if he is there.  They traded a 1 for Trent because they want that big back to go with Andrew. We have the same GM and coach who made the trade.  They may even trade up to get him.  I don't know why but I can see this happening.  Free agency will address the OL and a few spots on defense. The Von Miller excitement will cause a rush on edge rushers before we pick.  Just got that feeling and I would be okay with it. We need a starter with that pick and hopefully the next two picks.

  6. Since we are drafting at 18 and the odds of getting one in the draft are kind of small what do you think of trading for one?  Not a draft pick but a player.  Thinking out of the box what about TY for a edge rusher?  Dorsett could take his spot and we could use 18 on another need.  Just thinking about the possibilities.

Good point with Lynch. He ended up being the missing piece in Seattle. And had his coach not made a terrible play call, they'd have won 2 Super Bowls with him.

Thats why even though the stats that Dustin presented seem sound, I still think you can't rule out taking top RBs in the first round. A top RB going to a team poised to make a push can be the difference.

Richardson debacle aside, the Colts are in a position where if there isn't that top defensive game wrecker there at 18, they could easily take Elliot and it would be a good pick.

     Totally agree!

  8. The idea of taking a running back as your first pick is overwhelmingly not a popular one.  But I think if we stay at 18 and you have Elliot as your BPA you have to do it.  They did it with Dorsett last year.  It is a position of need and he is a very highly ranked prospect.  Some team is going to take him in the first round. I have seen some mocks with the Cowboys at 4 and the Giants at 10 and the Texans behind us.  Finding a great edge rusher at 18 is going to be very difficult. We know it's a copycat league.  Every team is going to try and find the next Von Miller. There will probably be a early rush on pass rushers.  Unless we move up we will probably miss out.  Hopefully we won't be drafting this high again for a long time.  We have to make our first three picks count with three starters.  BPA in position of need after free agency is, I think, the way to go even if it means a RB.

  9. I think we will go after 2 or 3 maybe 4 young impact free agents who are not our own.  If he opts out I think we make a run at Mack.  Jacksonville signed him last time and they have plenty of cap space.  I think they make another run and he might just wind up there.  It will take a lot to sign him probably at the cost of adding another free agent but that is okay with me.  Stefen would probably be the backup plan if they want a center but he wasn't a hot target last year and I thought he was going to be.  Don't know why.  Osemele is a popular target but I think Alex Boone might be a better fit and maybe cost less?  I would be happy with either one.  I think we will sign Courtney Upshaw because of his connection to our new DC.  I think Trumaine Johnson would be my first choice for corner Jenkins 2nd.  I think a lot of this depends on Mack's status and if we really can sign him.

  10. Edge was a first round pick and he is going into the HOF.  Elliot has been compared to Edge by some experts. A complete three down back.  I know it's popular to downplay the position but you really have to consider it when a talent like this could come to us.  Gore is a stopgap.  Elliot could be our day one starter.

  11. If we fill at least one starter on OL in free agency then I would take him without hesitation.  The draft is deep in our other defensive positions of need.  Drafting at 18 should give us another defensive starter not to mention probably a starter in free agency.  He is very highly rated by the draft experts.  Top10 regardless of position. A must if he is there.  I wouldn't be surprised if they traded up to get him.  They traded a 1 for Trent to get the big back to compliment Andrew and we have the same GM and coach who made the trade.  I would not be surprised at all if he is our pick.

  12. I like Elliot as our 1st. pick.  I know I'm in the minority and everyone is on board about not drafting a RB in the first round.  But I keep coming back to the fact we traded a No. 1 pick for Trent.  We have the same GM and coach and they want a running game.  Elliot is a three down back who has been compared to Edge and according to the experts is a top ten pick.  If he is there I think they take him.  I wouldn't be surprised if they trade up to get him as crazy as it sounds.  We will use free agency to shore up the OL with at least one starter and the same for the defense.  If Elliot goes before us then I think it's BPA on position of need after free agency.  Either way we need at least two starters from this draft.  At 18 we should be able to make it happen.  Can't wait for the super bowl to be over.  I think Monday is the first day you can release players.

  13. Not sure about this one. That injury concerns me.  They have Elliot going a few spots behind us.  I would take him first.  A three down back that reminds everybody of Edge.  You know they want that all purpose back.  They tried to get it with Trent.  They will get a starting offensive lineman  in free agency.  Elliot will complete the triplets so to speak.  They could add a defensive starter or  two in free agency as well. And the draft is very deep in our other positions of need.  If Elliot is there I would take him. If he goes before us then BPA in position of need.

  14. I agree with others who feel what happens in free agency will help determine this pick.  I fully expect us to get a staring offensive lineman and a new corner along with a linebacker who can cover TE's in free agency.  The draft is deep in a number of defensive positions of need.  If they do what I think they do in free agency then I would take Elliot in a heart beat.  He has been compared to Edge on some scouting services. A three down back who can do it all. They went for Trent because they want that bell cow.  I think they will do it if he is there.  If he is not there I think it will be Reggie Ragland from Alabama.  Free agency has to produce three new starters.  Our draft should produce at least two new starters.   Going to be fun!

  15. I think Elliot should be our 1st rd. pick.  There is one scouting service that compares players to current and prior NFL players.  Elliot was compared to EDGE!  I really hope we find a way to get him.  I think we are going to address the OL in free agency and the draft.  We need an every down back and Elliot is the complete package. This is our chance to complete the triplets.  Jim, Ryan and Chuck please take him!
