Well there is a lot wrong in here. You were doing great until you got to Hunt. You are recalling the Hunt who played game 1-4 maybe, not the guy who hasn’t done jack since.

The run run defense has looked pretty good but my god how bad has the back end been? Hooker hasn’t looked right since whatever happened to his hip. Geathers just doesn’t look right either. Is it the scheme and their strong suits are being neglected in the scheme or are they both hurt and can’t ply 100% in the scheme? Idk.  Hooker doesn’t look like the ballhawk he looked like last year imo.

Kenny Moore, yes he has made plays but is he a player or is he just riding a lucky streak and being in the right place? I still am Leary of him at this point. Wilson would be cut by any team if he was chosen in round 6 or below as he hasn’t done anything that was expected from him. Outside of Moore, not 1 DB has made an impact on this team. Hopefully the new guy will get a chance or someone will turn on a light and play at an nfl level.

We we are hopeful that Turay and Lewis continue on their trajectory and improve as the year goes on and more likely into next season. We desperately need a pass rush and DB’s that break on zone coverage plays. Scheme needs adjusted for that imo.

I disagree on a few things in this post.

Hunt hasn't balled out since the first quarter of the season, but he also hasn't been 100%. PFF has him ranked as an above average defensive lineman in the league.

The defensive backs overall have been a bit disappointing, but I already said I didn't like the CB group. Malik Hooker hasn't had as big of an impact when it comes to picks, unlike last season, but he's still been around the ball making plays. He's an above average safety and graded out as 11th best according to PFF. Hooker also made the game winning fumble recovery against Jax.

I really like Kenny Moore, he's usually in the right place at the right time, which is all you can ask of  a DB. He forced the fumble against Jax and is also an above average CB according to PFF. You aren't giving enough credit to Pierre Desir, btw. PFF has him as the #18 CB in the league, much higher than Moore. I think you are expecting these corners to play lockdown defense like Richard Sherman or Jalen Ramsey, when they aren't those type of players at all. I don't expect them to shut WRs down, but I do expect them to be opportunistic and make plays. So far they have done that, and you have to remember that a weak pass rush only makes things harder for them.

Yes, we need more production from our pass rush. However, I do like to see us pressuring the QB and knocking passes down. I see potential. Potential isn't enough for championships but it's more than enough for year 1 of a semi-rebuild.

  2. I think we have some very solid pieces.

I like the LB corp. Maniac is a future All-Pro. Walker plays his role solidly. The other LBs are quality depth. Turay is flashing his talent. Lewis showed promise against Jax. Sheard has been solid like always. Hunt flat out balls. Jihad Ward going down really hurt, he was making the most of his snaps. The run defense has been strong, but I'm not liking the pass rush. It's been too inconsistent. I think we should target a player like Shane Ray in FA/draft.

I love the potential of our safeties, don't like our luck. Hooker looks like a true ball hawk. Geathers/Mitchell are solid playmakers. I'm fine with this group at 100% (don't forget that Farley hit IR too). The problem is that they seem to be injury prone. We should target Landon Collins. We should've drafted him instead of Philip Dorsett.

I don't really like our CB group. Kenny Moore balls but he's undersized. Pierre Desir has been adequate. I don't recall seeing Quincy Wilson on the field. I don't know the guy that gave up the long Moncrief TD, but he's not good. I think we would really do well to draft some talent at CB, although I do like the move for Jalen Collins.

  3. If we show up on offense and defense, I think we will win.

I'm just not quite sure this team is up to the task. I was very impressed by the Jags win, however there were several blown coverages and the second half offense was ugly. I like the speed and effort on our defense but there's been a few boneheaded plays that make me reserve my judgement (like the Moncrief TD, checkdowns that turn into first downs, lack of pass rush). I think our team has the coaching and talent to beat the Titans, but maybe not the experience and chemistry (yet). Honestly, if we win and make a serious push for the playoffs, we are overachieving in year 1 of this makeover and I'm here for it.

  4. He sucks.

I had high hopes for him, because he would've been the perfect compliment to Hilton. I really thought he was gonna be great after he caught 7 TDs during an injury plagued season, but he never capitalized on that. Lazy routes, low effort on routine plays, very inconsistent. He's Just Another Guy,  perfect player for the Jags.

You saw 1 game with team at 100% that resulted in a 2 score victory on the road,  not impressed?  D def not SB caliber but do you agree the O might be close?  I get the “Not this Season” approach but what do we as fans have to lose by buying in this yr?  I want to see this fully healthy squad down the stretch before signing off for 2019, what do you say?  RISE UP COLT NATION

It was a nice win. But it was against the Raiders.

Now if we were healthy against the Pats, I certainly think that game is a lot different. But I haven't seen them healthy against a quality opponent yet. If we can keep this same energy against the rest of the division, I'll be impressed. I'm sold on Luck, but nothing else.

If they go 7-1 the rest of the way, they would be a legitImate SB contender.

I like the enthusiasm, but no. Not this season.

I think the team is solid, but not good enough to put down the Chiefs/Pats/Steelers. Maybe on our best day, but I haven't seen enough of our team at 100%. I can tell you that our defense is not SB caliber, for sure.

Look, he did say had the play been executed correctly it wasn't a bad play called. I heard the interview after that game and I am not going to go back and look for any link. I remember what he said.

He not one time said in your link it was a bad call.

Choose what you want to believe and I am not debating or arguing with you about it.

Even Patty Macs explanation covered what happened.

lol even if he did say that in the post game interview, you're probably the only person that believed him

In my link he said he "didn't know how it was supposed to work". That tells you everything you need to know about whether it was a good play call or not lmao

  8. There were some really good players I was hoping Ballard would sign. I was really surprised he let Malcolm Butler go to the Titans and Andrew Norwell to the Jags. Ryan Jensen could've helped too.

If he would've signed some quality OL, we could traded up and drafted Saquon Barkley....buuuuuut Ballard does have some logic behind his FA inactivity

It’s funny, because we were involved with some of the bigger name guys, but the value of what the price tag got, we backed out. We knew there was a chance we were going to be inactive the first 5, 6, even 7 days of free agency. I don’t want to act like we are opposed to free agency. There will come a point where we are going to need a piece and we will go buy one. We just felt like we had so many (missing) pieces, that going to add 2 or 3 big name pieces, they weren’t going to fill all the holes that we have.

He wants to have a foundation comprised of players who entered the league with Indy. I can't say I disagree with that. I think things will get very interesting in the next couple offseasons.

  9. I almost forgot about Fleener/Allen. I really thought they were gonna be the next Gronk/Hernandez (aside from the obvious)

I think Luck/Reich are definitely putting Ebron in position to flourish, and he's making the most of it. Now if he can just work on those damn drops....

  10. It really wasn't fair to move Gore after he played like a solider without Luck. I know the reason behind moving Gore was really due to Mack emerging this season, but he's been hurt and so far our ground attack has been sub-par, at best. He's quietly chugging along down in Miami while we can't get our attack going at all smh

  11. Luck is doing work, and is performing a lot better than many expected him to.

His YPA during the first three games did concern me, but I think he's going to keep progressing throughout the season. I expect a late season surge in his play, and I think next season he will return to elite form. I will say that I think his receivers need to step it up though, he can't do it on his own.

  12. We need healthy starters, for one.

I really think a healthy Mack would do wonders for this offense, he's flashed a ton of talent but just can't stay on the field so lately. Hines has been looking  pretty good IMO, not someone who can run behind that line very well but he makes plays. Wilkins has been pretty average to meh. I think Turbin will be a big help in the red zone, if Mack can't stay healthy we may have to sign a FA or draft one in the later rounds again. I'm not too worried about this group.

The OL needs Castanzo in the worst way. We need the right side of the line to solidify as well. I think we have a solid group that needs time to gel and get healthy. Maybe draft another OL in the mid rounds next year. Again, not too worried about this group.

We very desperately need another WR besides Hilton. I really thought Moncrief would be it, I think Grant is solid #3 but there's not a good enough #2 in this group. It's literally Hilton and a bunch of #3 WRs. We need a playmaker here,.

We could also use a few more playmakers on defense, whether it's another pass rusher or a coverage LB/S. I like the corners we have, they just need to stay healthy as well. I really want Quincy Wilson to do well here, I've seen enough from everyone else to have my trust.

Isn’t this kind of a recurring theme though?

It’s really kind of the culture of this team. It seems like for the last 3 years now we’ve been able to walk away from most games and go “we stuck it out and if these 3 plays had gone differently....”

We’re somehow able to always put a positive spin on something, but we rarely have the chance to just outright be proud.

    Nope, not exactly.

It was an entirely different feel when we had Grigson/Pagano at the helm of the team. I literally would think we had every game in the bag as they didn't hold this team back. Pagano pretty much admitted that he held the team back. But with Reich I get an entirely different feel...this team wants to win

Hooker was the only good pick in last year’s draft. Mack and Hairston were decent, but hardly the “gems” everyone on here makes them out to be

Both Mack and Hairston were solid picks. Mack when healthy is a nice playmaking RB, Hairston has been rock solid.

As for this thread, I'm very surprised by the move. I wish we could've kept Simon and had Basham on the practice squad...

  15. I've seen enough from Hooker's rookie season to not worry about him, at all.

Superman made some really good points about our secondary, he hasn't been making the most plays but he's been quietly doing his job.

Sidebar: I really think our defense is going to be stout by the end of the season. A solid FA and draft can easily turn this team into a contender next year, we just need our players to be healthy.

  16. Very bad circumstances for the team, smh.

The Patriots and Colts will be squaring off on Thursday night and that means the two teams had to submit practice reports on Monday.

The Colts’ report was an estimation as they only held a walkthrough a day after losing to the Texans in overtime. If they had practiced, eight players would have been on the sideline.

That group includes wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who hurt his chest and hamstring against Houston. Head coach Frank Reich said on Sunday that his chances of playing this week are “probably not good.”

Rookie linebacker Darius Leonard was listed as out due to an ankle injury. Center Ryan Kelly, cornerback Nate Hairston and cornerback Kenny Moore were also in that category after playing in Sunday’s loss. Tight end Jack Doyle, defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway and cornerback Quincy Wilson were out on Sunday and would have been out on Monday.

Left tackle Anthony Castonzo and running back Marlon Mack didn’t play on Sunday, but were estimated to be limited participants on Monday.

Huge chance we get crushed, barring an out of this world Luck game and great coaching from Reich.
