I know the right thing to do is to trade the pick with the Jets, take Chubb or Key at 1 and use one of the two 2nd round picks to get Chubb, Guice, or Michel.  Getting back to the Hooker part of the thread, a good pass rush makes his job a lot easier.

But when we see Barkley's Combine numbers, we may all want to do the dumb thing and take him.  Good thing we have a smart, mature guy like Ballard making the pick.  And not me.

I'd be so happy if we could get Chubb and Guice. I'd literally be stoked even if Luck doesn't play.

Luck had 3 healthy season and didn't deliver a sb. He can't do it himself... why don't we wait and see what FA, the draft, and who our coach will be before we start talking about sb aspirations?

I didn’t see say SB win. I said contend for one. He almost made it before, it’s possible he could do it again.

  3. Are you expecting us to contend for a Super Bowl?

Ill say yes. Luck has taken worse teams to the AFC Championship, and has also beat great teams on his own (Seattle, Denver 2x). I think whichever coaching staff we hire will be better than the last, which would make it even more of a sure thing. I’ve stated this opinion on other boards and continue to be attacked by Raiders fans (of all people!)

    Yes, we do.

The two timelines don't match up.

Harbaugh coached the 49ers from 11-14.. four years.   He went to Michigan in Jan of 15.

Pagano's four year contract ran from 12 thru 15.    His job wasn't in jeopardy until Jan of 16 -- one year later.   That's when Irsay gave Chuck his second contract.

By then, Harbaugh had been at Michigan for a year.   He wasn't going to leave his alma mater after one year.

That's how we know...   the timelines don't match up.

That’s not what I’m saying. Pagano should have been let go the moment they saw harbaugh was fired. At no point in time was the Colts job open and Harbaugh free, therefore we don’t know if harbaugh would have signed in that case.

Most are required to provide a source.  But if you are a "top poster" that isn't the case.

I’ve learned my lesson on providing sources to “top posters”. They’ll just ignore it and continue to force their opinion, or just disappear from the thread altogether.

He went 8-8 with Tebow and won a playoff game with him. I'd like to see what he could do with Luck.

That team had a stout defense and was the major reason they won most of those games. Even the playoff win was a fluke, I wouldn't give him too much credit for that.

Maybe you should do a little more research on what went on in Frisco?

It sounds like you should do more research on what happened. I already know that Jed York forced Harbaugh's early exit amid early retirements and disappointing play after the SB appearance, he's even admitted that he regrets how he handled that.

“I don’t know if ‘regret’ is the right word. We had a lot of success together. We tried several times to get an extension done with Jim and, for whatever reason, those didn’t culminate. And ultimately, as successful as it was here, I think Jim is very happy. He’s doing an unbelievable job at Michigan.

“We obviously didn’t have success after Jim left — I don’t know if we’d be sitting here with John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan if something happened. And I don’t know if it would have worked in the long-term if we did get something done.

“I regret how we performed the last two years. I regret that the relationship was frayed between me and a coach that did a lot of great things for this franchise.

“I actually talked to his brother John briefly at the owners’ meeting and he said, ‘You know, you guys need to get together some time and have dinner,’ and I said, ‘I’d love to do that.’ I’d love to get together. And I think enough time has kind of passed where you can let whatever issues were there be buried and just truly be thankful for three great years when nobody expected us, certainly in 2011, to beat the Saints the way we did, to get close and, you know, be two muffed punts away from going to a Super Bowl in ‘11. Just all the things that happened.

“I’d love to sit down with Jim. Not in front of cameras, not in front of anybody else, but just share an evening with him and truly say thank you and wish him the best of luck. Not obviously when he plays Notre Dame, but for the rest of the season, wish him the best of luck.”
