  1. In the late 70's and very early 80's, "New Wave" and "Punk Rock" threw a monkey wrench in to conventional music...thankfully...

  2. Open Mic night...as always feel free to add!

:) Any music from the most recent enshrinees into Music Hall of Fame?? I would love me some Dire Straits or the Cars. Bon Jovi is great too.

(Different artists but I like this video of the song best)

I love the into guitar riff on "Running Down A Dream." The rhyming lyrics from "Into The Great Wide Open" like...

"His leather jacket had chains that would jingle
They both met movie stars, partied and mingled
      Their A&R man said, "I don't hear a single."

The dude is King & we all know 'It's Good To Be King" right? Why thank you. Thank you very much. Now, where the hades is my peanut butter & banana sandwich? haha

When Tom signed with WB records & created the masterpiece known as 'Wildflowers', I was blown away. His best & most complete work to date & my sentimental favorite.

I love every darn track on that CD. It's deliciously good man.

"Hard On Me" is probably my personal favorite.

Oh, no. What do you mean I have to "Climb That Hill" over there? There's no other way? It figures. Good vibe on this number. Sweet!

  4. I know that I have posted him on here several times before but imo, Joe Walsh is the greatest "Eagle"....

While the Eagles were pretty popular before Joe joined them they were known as an easy listening band. They were a cross between easy listening with a country back ground.

When Joe joined they took his sound and made Hotel California and the rest is history. His attitude effected Don Henley and he actually took more of a lead than before.

  5. Feeling pretty psyched about the Hankins' signing....not a fan of the 10 mil per but atleast only half is guaranteed. Going to celebrate with one of my all tim e favorite groups....some full albums (cd's for you Millennials)!

The 3rd video says Jimi, but it's actually the SRV version. That person who said it was Jimi should be ashamed!

    3. lollygagger8

      lollygagger8

      I agree with y'all.

Jimi was the innovator, and SRV was influenced heavily by him. Not sure the student can be better than the master, but he's damn close!

I think Jimi was waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his time. He was the reason I started playing, so I have to tip my hat to him. The sheer power/volume, effects, the way he played, was all a first of it's kind. He's getting those high notes on a right handed guitar upside down which is absolutely astonishing. Plus to do what he did while being on the drugs he was on while playing is a feat in itself! lol

That said, SRV was a much cleaner player, and I feel more blues based. His tone was perfectly honed and people strive for it to this day. I think he took the blues/rock/Jimi thing to the next level as far as sound/ability/tone. He was next level as a player, and a great showman in his own right.

I agree with crazycolt.....so many excellent guitar players out there. All different styles.

Jimi, SRV, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Joe Stariani, Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrell (Pantera) ....I could be here all day!

I've seen Bonamassa live, and he's absolutely amazing. I taped this front row of his concert here in Fort Wayne....he was somehow better live than on studio recordings!

Dude did all that on an acoustic! lol

I've been getting into Doyle Bramhall II lately. He's written alot for Eric Clapton. He's not amazing guitar player, but he's good and a heckuva a song writer.

He's got a new album coming out, and Clapton is on this song:

Here's some of his older stuff (Jimi inspired!) :

This is one of my favorite's of his:

"Through the long lonely nights she filled my sleep
Her body softly swaying to that smoky beat
      Down on Mainstreet"

Love the vivid imagery created by these lyrics from Bob Seger.

He never gets as a songwriter IMO. The guy is phenomenal at this.

      Where's "You'll Accompany Me" man?

"I've seen you smiling in the summer sun
I've seen your long hair flying when you run
I've made my mind up that it's meant to be
      Someday lady you'll accompany me"

Bob does capture beautiful moments with his iconic verses doesn't he? :hat:

I like this video version of the same number too. However, I always wonder why America always has to make the lady in question white & blond though. Beauty comes in many different shades & colors.

Just the emotion that showed on Robert, Jimmy and John Paul was amazing. And even Jason was getting emotional playing his fathers spot was just as emotional. Great tune made epic.

Anytime NFLfan; anytime. I also will be watching you're Vikings very close this yr.

I think they have a very good shot at beating INDY & Aaron Rogers for the NFC North again. RB Ham looks solid & Kyle Rudolph is a freaking stud & yes you can quote me on both declarations BTW. LOL!

I also watched Minnesota against the Bengals too. Mike Zimmer is 1 hades of a coach.

The Vikings can hang with anybody man. Zims has given that team confidence & it's infectious.

haha Thank you. I won't get my hopes up too high but I am optimistic. The pass rush looked good on Thursday. I was not too pleased with Zim's decision to sit Teddy. Teddy could use the reps.

I like CJ Ham too but he probably won't make the team. Another team will sign him.

I am going to MN in October for the Texans game. Can't wait!

No 'Holy Diver' really? Gotta remedy that...

I really like this Rob Lundgren vocal cover of this timeless classic. He annunciates the word 'Diver' with an elongated tone just right.

  17. No political rants...just some music from a time where people took to the streets to voice their displeasure with the establishment.

Feel free to add...we have a nation that is divided and it is sad.  We all mostly want the same things but political division feeds the train that rips us all off.  Be wise next time America.

I know I said no political rants...I lied.

Neither choices they gave us in the end were all too great. I did vote for choice B who lost, but I preferred choice C who lost in the primaries to choice B.

Not trying to get political with names but you catch my drift if you catch my drift.

I honestly get so burned out on politics lately, I agree at times.......sometimes just music is better. I tuned a lot of it out lately and just kinda said screw it.

      Oh.......anti war btw?

I love "September". What a fun song! Listening to it right now...

before early passing's that signature voice for the group was amazing, esp in great remake origianally quit old  cover songs or remakes of old songs with different titles that became major hits, Going up the country especially & on the road again , the latter was a remake of a guy named tom Johnson i thing under a different name but remade as on the road again in the 1950's & based on tom Johnson big railroad blues  & tom Johnsons group of the 1920's was called Canned Heat Blues , thus their name, Many of those that played for canned heat instead played later I think for John Mayall

      wilson played a great harmonica

Roling & Tumbling also a goody they , muddy waters and many did versions of

I think i have my facts generally right , any way if not just work with me or as Canned heat also sang Lets Work Together - & on that notes lets hope all Colt players & staff work together
