  1. I agree. If you get away from /r/aww and /r/advice animals then it's a lot better. Otherwise you will get swamped by confession bears haha

My general rule of thumb is the more specific the subreddit the better it is. The broad subreddits of /r/politics or /r/atheism and the like usually just lead to lots of internet fights but subreddits devoted to a single tv show or video game or whatever are usually pretty civil and very informative.

  2. My guess is it will be with an as yet unknown QB who will enter the league in the next 2 years. Or it could be Dalton or some backup. Part of what made the Peyton Brady Rivalry so media friendly was the whole #1 pick vs #200 something.

  3. Agree Allen's hands where fine.

Also quite frankly Allen made more plays then Fleener.

I think Fleener will improve and show his worth, but I'm even more excited about Allen's prospects.  Dude was underrated this year and I think in a couple years at most he'll be a pro-bowler.

The way I see it based on last year is that Fleener has the potential for big plays with his size and speed while Allen is more short yardage clutch. Both bring something unique and helpful to the offense but Fleener will likely end up with the bigger stat line when its all said and done.

  4. Fleener will be fine, the bad OL affected more than just Luck and the passing game.  It also forced TE's to stay tight and block.

BTW,     Fleener and Allen both had butterfinger hands last season.   I don't get why Fleener is the only TE catching heck.

Allen caught like 68% of his targets with is 14% higher than lucks completion percentage. Allen actually had pretty good hands.

  5. I still find it hard to believe they tol Robert Griffin to balloon up to 361lbs and Chapman to balloon up to 341lbs, I also dont think Craig knows quite as much as some might believe given most of his answers are cookie cutter ones

I'm also not sure about Griffin but I could easily buy that Chapman was encouraged to get bigger. There was an interview awhile back where Grigson said Chaps weight was 340 or 360 or something and sounded really pleased about it.

  6. I'd be interested to see where we are on the Future Power Rankings article but I'm not an insider, has anyone seen?

Colts were tied for 8th with the Rams.

LAST SEASON: 11-5 (second place AFC South)

The bar graphs reflect the average rating given by the voters for each category.

Category averages are weighted by importance to generate overall score.

Roster: The Colts "gutted" this roster when they started the Andrew Luck era, which meant building this roster through the draft with mostly young players. Veteran stars like receiver Reggie Wayne and outside linebacker Robert Mathis will likely be gone by 2016 and there are not enough young difference-makers on this roster yet, but help is on the way. Luck will have two excellent tight ends in Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, and the defense can build around inside linebacker Pat Angerer. -- Horton

Quarterback: Luck's presence on the roster helped the Colts secure a No. 2 ranking at quarterback (behind only the Packers). The Colts have only six players age 30 or older on their roster, but Wayne is one of them. Quarterbacks make receivers however, and Luck is going to be just fine. His efficiency should climb now that the Colts have reunited him with his college coordinator, Pep Hamilton. Luck ranked 35th out of 36 qualifying quarterbacks in completion percentage last season, but that was mostly a reflection of the Colts' emphasis on attempting longer passes. -- Sando

Draft: So what if they were handed the best opportunity to draft at No. 1 in maybe the last decade. The Colts didn't overthink the pick and took the right player in Luck. The Colts had an exceptional draft under Ryan Grigson in 2012 beyond the selection of Luck, and also head into next year with an extra fourth-rounder. How well they draft to protect Luck and maximize the early portion of his career could be the draft storyline to watch. -- Kiper

Front office: Chuck Pagano and Grigson begin their second year at the helm in 2013. The accent has been heavily on defense, as it should be. The switch from Tampa 2 to a 3-4 set was far from complete in 2012. But there will be questions on the offensive side that will demand attention as well. -- Polian

Coaching: What more needs to be said about Pagano? He was an inspiring story last year and did so much more than help lead a football team. The key for him this year will be building off that. After such an emotionally draining season, can he keep his team's energy up? Chuck is a great motivator, so it won't surprise me if the young Colts keep improving. It doesn't hurt that Luck is running the offense either. -- Edwards

  7. Goodell came into this league claiming to "protect the NFL shield". Tell me how are federal indictments a public relations blessing exactly? Goodell is the figure head for all the owners & they all have a vote at the owners meetings. Bad publicity equals a loss in your wholesome NFL, PG family product. Hernandez & Haslam are on equal footing. No exception should be made in either case IMO.

Haslam hasn't been charged with anything. That's a big difference right there.

  8. I never said unlawful termination was easy to prove Superman. In fact, I repeatedly mentioned that meeting that thresh hold was very high [Post #156].

I find incredibly hypocritical that an owner can fire Hernandez with no evidence, but yet the Browns owner Jerry Haslam can be the subject of an FBI & IRS investigation & he hasn't been fired yet. Where's the equality & fairness here exactly Roger Goodell? Hmmm...

Employers can fire employees when it suits them how does that apply to Jerry Haslam? He's an owner not an employee. Goodell can't just fire Haslam.

  9. Looking at either end of the extreme would if course skew thing (spending it all, spending nothing) but my understanding of the rule is as you set out. I'm not quite sure however why it was brought in? I would have thought that the FA market would dictate a certain amount of spending. Or was it an effort to try a stop teams building less than competitive rosters. Either way you can't force teams to spend the money wisely as you say.

As for the Colts themselves, despite most saying we've overspent on FA, when look at the contracts on the whole they are on the whole quite low long term risks with plenty of get outs and I feel they building strength in depth across the team.

This of course might change when FAs such as Davis, Bethea come up for renewal let alone the rookies of last year!

My understanding is that it is a way to force the owners to share revenue with the players. Since the salary cap is determined by how much revenue the teams brought in together, coupled with tv deals and stuff having a floor to the salary cap is forcing the owners to share at least a certain percentage of their revenue with the players. There is a also a league wide floor of 95% I think. If these floors are not met all that happens is the league/team must pay its current roster a bonus until it reaches the floor, or something like that. So no performance affecting penalties.
