  1. Chubb is 28 and Taylor is only 24. I am sure a lot of GM's/teams would love to have Taylor but would they pay him what he wants and will they give us a great deal?
  2. I doubt they go after Taylor because as Jvan said they have Chub. They may be freeing up space just to add depth, hard telling.
  3. Funny thing is, even if JT doesn't want to be here, he still has to give 100% and play great to earn his next contract. If he plays bad, that only hurts him as well.
  4. It ruined Bell's career, if he or anyone can't learn from that, than that is on them.
  5. Pretty much, so I don't see that but Jerry probably looks at Taylor like having a new Lamborghini
  6. Only team that I have heard that has interest in him is Miami. They don't have a 3rd round pick in 2024 so that really hurts that cause. They would have to give us their 1st round pick because no way is Ballard trading JT for just a 2nd round pick. He led the league in rushing just 2 years ago. Maybe the Cowboys will try to negotiate with us, you never know about Jerry. He wants a SB bad and is half crazy anyway
  7. I don't disagree but if Taylor can't at least play at elite level for 3 more years than the dude is just fragile. I find it hard to believe, hits and all, at his age he won't be great for the next 3 years. That is why most people in here and in the media are ok giving him a 3 year deal.
  8. This had to be done. It's called strategy and it makes the FO not look like the bad guy. We are not holding him hostage, letting Taylor's agent and Taylor explore their options. Once they find out they won't be able to get the deal they want, JT and his agent will change their tune and he will play out his contract out. If he doesn't play, he loses a lot of money and it makes him look bad, just like it did Bell years ago. If a team bites and we ask for a 1st round pick and that team says no, we can at least say we tried.
  9. The wild thing about this season is, any team that gets in could win the WS. Braves should be the favorite, but they can even be beat in a 5 or 7 game series if things don't go their way. Dodgers choke pretty much every year. Astros have been inconsistent this season, they are beatable. When it comes to the Orioles and Rays, they have put up some clunkers lately. As long as the Brewers, Dodgers, or Astros don't win it all, I would be ok with anyone else. Yankees and Cards, you can put a fork in them here in 2023. Regarding the Cubs, I never seen this coming. We have totally rebuilt this team in 2 years, only Hendricks is left off of our 2016 WS Championship team and Ross managing. Before the season started ESPN - had the Cubs 75-87, finishing 4th in the Central Sporting News - had the Cubs 76-86, finishing 4th in the Central MLB .com/network - had the Cubs 76-86, finishing 4th in the Central *I had the Cubs at 81-81 finishing 3rd in the Central and no playoffs. I predicted that and even said a lot would have to go right . Cubs are currently 65-59 and own the 5th playoff WC spot in the NL. The Phillies made the WS last season as a WC and that Philly team isn't any better than this years Cubs on paper. It comes down to who gets the breaks in make-or-break games and health.
  10. This is smart by our FO. Let Taylor and his agent explore a trade. Once they can't find a team to take him or want his demands, then mission complete. Our FO also will not trade Taylor for a Big Mac either. It will take a 1st round pick in 2024, or 2nd and 3rd in 2024. So I don't see Taylor going anywhere.
  11. We are now in the 5th playoff spot in the NL at 65-59, as the Jefferson's would say "movin on up".
  12. I would love to hear Taylor talk instead of his agent and the media.
  13. Having unproven talent on the O.Line or having just an average O.Line can get a QB killed. That is a dicey situation. That is why having a QB that gets the ball out quick (Peyton) or a tough QB that can read defenses (Luck) comes in handy. I think Trevor will be fine, he is smart and in that good tier of QB's = top 10 or so. Having quality backups is very important but if Cincy lost Chase, that team wouldn't be the same and they have pretty good overall depth. It depends on the player lost. If they lost Mixon they could probably improvise. I like having depth on the Lines because you can have players that are interchangeable, and they stay fresh and more healthy.
  14. Health is always the most important thing. If a team loses 2 or 3 quality starters, their season could go down the drain. Especially if it is their starting QB or an elite WR or RB. It is like that with any team, imagine the Jags losing Trevor? That would be pretty bad.
  15. You probably seen my picks above, I have the Jags winning the AFC South. It pains me to say it but I go by who has the best teams, not who I like. I have Trevor Lawrence cracking my top 10 QB's in the league as well coming into this year. He showed me enough last year. His rookie season was bad only because Urban was a Buffoon lol.
  16. The one thing I have noticed about all these teams is they are up and down. They can beat the best team in the league one night, then lose to the worst team in the league the next night. these teams are very unpredictable. To me the Brewers, Phillies, Giants, Cubs, Reds, D Backs, and Marlins are all even. That is major parity. It is whatever team gets the breaks down the stretch and who is the healthiest that will make the playoffs. 3 of those teams won't make it, I just hope 1 of them isn't the Cubs. Only the Braves and Dodgers are above and beyond in the NL. *I am still not even counting out the Padres, not with the talent they have.
  17. There are so many games and teams to follow that it is hard to keep up . I work nights so it is difficult for me to watch full games and we play damn near every day. Giants are another team I have been keeping an eye on, they are 65-59, just a half game ahead of us. We could end up 5th instead of 6th. I would rather end up 6th because I want Miwaukee's rear . If we win the division somehow and finish the 3rd seed that would be gravy. To me making the playoffs is making the playoffs either way if you aren't a #1 or #2 seed. Those teams get the Bye's is why. Braves and Dodgers have the top 2 seeds sewn up.
  18. A friend of mine called me last night and said he watched the game with a Bears fan. He was rubbing it in, I said dude, it is game 2 of the pre-season
  19. Game 2 of the pre-season. Lions will run away with the North.
  20. If the season ended today, the playoff seedings would be: Braves #1 Dodgers #2 Brewers #3 Phillies #4 Giants #5 Cubs #6 The Wild Card Round would be the Brewers vs the Cubs = best of 3. Phillies vs Giants = best of 3. If the Brewers do win the division, I would love nothing more to eliminate them. That alone would make this season very good. Making the playoffs, then knocking them off. The great thing about baseball is, as long as you get in, anything can happen. Dodgers have had dominant seasons but then have lost in the NLDS or NLCS a lot.
