I want a QB as bad as anybody, but IMHO there are only 2 QB's I'd take at #13, and I expect both to be gone: Burrow and Tua. So in that vein, I've always subscribed to BPA that fits a need. DT is not usually sought after as high as position players like QB and WR, and Derrick Brown, by most accounts, is a top 5 talent in this draft. Due to the likely run on QB's, and if he is still somehow there at #13, I would RUN to the podium to take this guy if I'm Chris Ballard. How long has it been since we've had a TRUE 2-way guy like that from the middle? He can stop the run and he can rush the passer. When I watch him I see him just below a guy like Donald, and that would totally change the feel of the defense, perhaps in the same way that Nelson did for the offense. Remember when people said guard is too high to draft at #6? Where are those people now? I think this guy's impact can be just as good for the defense.
I want a QB too, but I'm not about to REACH for one just because it's a need. And there's always FA.

I don't think the season was a TOTAL waste. I mean Luck hid a lot of deficiencies. With him gone the team was able to see where they need help and where they're OK. The defense, for as young as it is, actually played fairly well most of the season. I think they'll be fine there, but the DL is going to need some help. Houston is your best DL and he aint getting any younger. I'd like to see them add both a RG and RT. Another TE would help so EE can walk. But by FAR I think the biggest need is a WR......or two. Then take the best kicker available somewhere after round 4. And IMHO, I know some will disagree, but I don't think Jacoby is the long-term answer. The team was sort of hamstrung this year with Luck's surprise retirement and the timing. But I think they also know Jacoby is solid but is not going to get you to the promised land. I think a guy like Tua can be had where the Colts will be drafting. He may be as good as any other QB coming out, and there won't be much in FA. Those are the positions I'd aid if I were in charge.

Tua might be there without having to trade up. Might be just as good as any other option out there. Certainly won't be much to choose from in FA. I used to be against the "mobile" QB. Until this year. Guys are dominating the league right now. I'd cover all bases on that hip first though.

I've been touting 2020 as "the year" for a while now. I might be a year too early, but in watching the league this year one thing has struck me: there aren't any truly "elite" teams out there. Yes some are better than others, but IMHO the difference between the top and the bottom isn't as great as it used to be. The Colts are clearly among the average teams, so I think with another shrewd draft (and that Skins round 2 pick sure looks good!) and a couple of impact FA's, I think this team can contend next year. And Mr. Brady isn't going to be around much longer either.

I'm confused. This is akin to saying Peyton Manning threw an incompletion or Jerry Rice dropped a pass. It happens to everybody from time to time. These guys aren't robots. They aren't perfect.

We should run it like 35 times. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Old time football.

Colts in a defensive struggle, 12-10.

He's been asked to do a lot, but he's been a detriment vs the run. I just don't see him developing into a 3 down MLB. I do like him vs the pass though. They used him at SAM a bit this last week which I thought was interesting.
I like it and hope to see more of it. I think we should try to get our best 3 LB's on the field together, which they are obviously doing, and make our defense that much more stout. Leonard, Walker, and Okereke is a pretty good combo IMHO.

FWIW, here are some from the Week 1 rankings:
Bears #6
Steelers #8
Chargers #10
Vikings #12
Packers #14
Panthers #18
Colts #19
Bills #23
Niners #24 (bwahahaha!)
They aint in stone.

I have NO idea how to judge this. I have enough trouble trying to keep up with the game, LOL

In response to the OP, yes I am for THIS year. But I don't think this is a Superbowl year for the Colts. Could be, but I don't think they are better than the Pats. So for THIS year, I'm comfortable with it. If they were that close, then yeah you go get that one player you feel will put you over the top. Perhaps next season will be that year, but not 2019.

Nope. Had it for like a day when I just purchased my new home in July. Thought maybe I had paid a tad too much for it. Then I slept in it, woke up in it, then entertained some friends in it. That feeling went away quickly. Ya-sin is a rookie. Not possible yet.

Anybody got a screen shot of this? I completely missed it.

Change in game plan. One of the announcers even said today he was surprised the Colts weren't running more and I would expect the Texans were too. Next time I would not be surprised if they try to run it more just to change it up. When you play a team twice a year it is wise to mix things up.

Jacoby is playing well but I'm even more excited at the overall well-roundedness of the team. Not too many weaknesses to be found right now.

Oh c'mon people! Have some fun. 1-0 is for the TEAM. I don't play for the Colts and neither do any of you. Live a little. If the scenario doesn't happen the sun will still come up. They're in better shape than I would have thought the night AL retired.

This team is further along than I imagined. I had been saying 2020 was the year we would make a move, but it is very possible they could do it this year.
I would have NEVER guessed it would be with Brissett at QB though.
-
I don't want to overreact to one performance today, but Brissett has been very good so far this year. I would rank him in the lower half of the top 20 right now. But he's got a chance to near the top 10 if he continues to impress like he did today.

Great game today, statement made. Assuming the team stays fairly healthy, there is NO reason this team can't get to 8-2. 3 of the next 4 are at home, and the away game is at the Steelers who are currently rolling out their #3 QB. Don't know where they will be then but if this team continues to play like it is I like their chances either way there. These next 4 teams have 7 wins combined. SEVEN. Again, no excuses really unless everybody ends up in the MedCheck. Hopefully they can keep this train rolling and gain a little distance between them and the Texans before we have to go down there. Texans have it a little bit tougher as they have a better than advertised Raider team and then have to go to Baltimore. They also have their bye mixed in there. Lets go Colts! Keep this momentum train rolling!

Kelly has his grade up to 66.9. The low side of above average.
Let's hope that number goes up.I don't understand these rankings. From my eyes Kelly has been pretty darned good.

I'm not a big jersey wearing guy. Used to when I was younger back when we won the Superbowl, but I don't now. Just wear team oriented stuff. But IF I were to buy my next jersey it would no doubt be #56. Guy is just a monster, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

The game plan was just laid in KC. Colts would be wise to re-enact that plan. KC and Houston are somewhat similar teams. So if we can do it in KC, we should be able to do it vs. Houston.
-
I don't need PFF rankings to tell me that I hope Kelly and Nelson are teammates here for the next 10 years. Both are great, but together they are dominant..

No matter where, I think it's in our best interest to continue to add to this OL. It is obviously helping the rest of the team, and it will help Brissett and the RB's find room to operate and control the clock. And adding Nelson, who I was in favor of after Chubb, has completely changed the complexion of this unit. Imagine adding another Nelson (if that player is even out there) to this unit! I'm ALL IN on adding another kick-* fatty to this already rising group.

1st pick
in NFL Draft, Scouting, and Free Agent Talk

No, I think there are always going to be questions and risks to draft picks. But I'm not about to reach and take like the 4th or 5th best QB available just because I feel we need one when the best DT on the board is staring me in the face (or WR, or.....).
I'm not the GM and I don't know what they are thinking or how they have guys ranked, but IMHO Burrow and Tua are the only QB's I would have a 1st round grade on just from what I've seen. If neither are available, then I'd defer to subsequent rounds for a QB. Of course if one happened to be there you take them and don't look back. I HIGHLY doubt that will be the case. And no, the FA QB market is not good this year. I'm not of the opinion that an old guy like Brady, Brees, or Rivers is the answer either. This doesn't rule out a trade of course (Derek Carr perhaps?). Whatever they are able to get in FA is also going to help determine which direction they go in the draft.
Bottom line is I'm looking for difference-makers no matter the position. Besides, franchise QB's are NOT only drafted in the first round. Granted, chances are greater they will be good, but there are cases of guys playing in the league right now that weren't first rounders. Heck, look no further than this weekend's NFC Championship game and Jimmy G.
