  1. Too many ILB's. If he could play OLB he'd take Werner's spot

Think we have like 5 ILB's right now even with Herrera cut

I would have to agree.  We are stacked at LB now with Irving coming back and Moore now in the fold.  Unless guys start going down I think it's one of the Colts strongest units.

  2. Some forum members wanted I think it's a RB from Philly named Mortest or something like that. If he's a RB, maybe Grigson gets him?

I think you are alluding to Raheem Mostert out of Purdue.  He is in fact very quick and seemed to have a good pre-season in Philly.  Unfortunately, he was never in their plans since they have 2 or 3 starting RB's on that team.  I have no idea what Chip Kelly is doing there.  And you people have reservations about Grigs!  LOL

Anyway, it appears Mostert cleared waivers and went to the Eagles P.S.  I guess he can still be plucked from there though.

  3. OJ got off and I don't know anybody that thinks he was innocent.  Now I'm certainly not comparing what OJ did to what Brady was accused of, of course, only that the system doesn't always work.  Sometimes the decisions get locked up in the burden of proof and procedural items and the things that are staring you in the face get lost.  I sense that's what happened here.

Oh well, time to move on.  It's football season.  Time to decide things on the field.

  4. I like the guy.  He and Vinatieri signed something and talked to my kid at a private function.  But the guy is not an NFL LB'er.  He showed flashes last season but now is having trouble even competing with 2nd and 3rd stringers.  I think we should tell him to keep his phone handy in case of injury.  I think he could fill in for a game or two without hurting us too badly, and he knows the system, but he's just not a play-maker and expecting him to be now is foolish.  Him taking up a roster spot for 16 games is not needed.  Colts are set at the LB position right now.

  5. Me personally, I am a little worried this team may underachieve this year due to their horrendous OL and lack of playmakers in the front seven on defense.

Until Grigson makes a big move to sure up the OL, by trading for an available RT and then moving mewhort back to LG, I see this OL struggling this season.

The NFL is a game of matchups, and week one already has a big matchup nightmare for the colts with Buffalos great DL.

I could see where you would think that BUT it's not like this OL was a juggernaut last year and they still made it to the AFC Championship game.  Now they have a legit #1 RB and have added weapons at WR.  The OL is about what it was last year.  The D has added a few pieces as well.  And Luck has another year of experience under his belt.  Will it be easy?  Of course not.  It never is.  But I think they will and should be one of the AFC favorites.

I too am worried about week 1.  Buffalo certainly presents challenges.  But even if they lose week 1 the season is not lost.  Just look back to last season where they went 0-1 in Denver.

  6. I think so too but for a different reason.  I don't think Barry Sanders could get 1,000 yards behind this O-Line.  But.....where I think he's gonna have the most impact is in the passing game, both as a blocker and a receiver.  Remember last year when Bradshaw had all those receiving TD's before getting injured?  Frank can do the same and is faster.  I see Gore being Luck's safety valve and catching 60+ balls and scoring 6-8 receiving TD's (if he stays healthy).  Add in another 6-8 rushing TD's and 800 yards rushing and that's a pretty good year.

  7. The NFC South has only had one team repeat as division winners and it was the last two years. While it looks horrendous, it's competitive and unpredictable. The AFC South on the other hand, has been an automatic win for the Colts for the past 15 years minus the rare Titans team that went 13-3, and those two Texans teams that won the division. Other than that, it's 6 easy wins a year for them. Trust me, I'd love to get to play Houston, Tennessee, and Jacksonville twice a year.

You'll get a shot at'em once this year.  And the Colts are certainly looking forward to playing the NFC South as well.  Show me a defense there that will shut them down.

  8. Another busted Grigson FA signing. This Grigson sure loves throwing money at players that cannot stat healthy.

I don't know how you can blame Grigs on Jones not staying healthy.  To my knowledge Jones didn't have a huge injury history prior.  If you wanna blame him for the T-Rich trade, go right ahead since he gave up picks and such for an unproven guy who was a bust. Or drafting Werner in the 1st round.  But not on Jones.

  9. Because there is a salary cap and you can only do so much.  IF they spent more on the OL, then the defense suffers and everybody says "Why didn't you spend more on D?"  Grigs' job is a tough one and I couldn't do it.  BUT, the only move or non-move I question is why didn't you make more of a move for Evan Mathis when he was just signed for about the same money as Donald Thomas, who has never produced here due to injury?  Other than that, I think Grigs is doing the best he can.  There are going to be holes on every team.

  10. Good news.  You can never have enough quality OL, especially this team.  BUT, when I see that the Colts COULD have had a guy like Evan Mathis for essentially what they are paying Thomas, I cringe.  Mathis is healthy even if he is older and on the downside of his career.  Thomas?  Who knows?  He could injure himself again putting on his shoes.  If Mathis has a good year in Denver this non-move will surely be speculated.  But I HOPE Thomas can produce finally.

  11. I don't think he needs to play.  If he isn't ready to go yet he never will be.  I would think no work for him, or at the most, one series with a couple of hand-offs.  Otherwise it would be just fine by me to watch him holding his helmet on the sidelines tomorrow.

  12. Long-time browser/lurker, first-time poster here.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.  We Colts fans know his true value and that's all that really matters.  Let those who give them money worry about it.  All I know is I wouldn't trade him with anybody else's QB given age and talent.  Glad he's playing for us.

That said, is he infallible?  Of course not.  He still makes some mistakes, but I think he will continue to improve and cut those down as time moves forward.
