  1. What makes me feel better is that the Colts started 0-2 last year and then went 13-4 to finish the season and got to the AFCCG.  Despite what people are saying right now the season isn't over.

It doesn't make me feel GOOD necessarily, but it does give some hope.  They did it last year, they can (and will need to) do it again.  The bulk of the schedule is not that difficult, but this was one of their toughest 4 games IMHO, along with NE, Pitt, and Denver.  It went about as expected but now the pressure is on to be nearly perfect.  I think they will need to win 13 to get home-field.  Not sure they can do that.

  2. Good analysis and thanks for not rubbing our faces in it.  We feel bad enough.  Although I actually predicted a Bills win, it still tastes awful.  I agree with about everything you said in your analysis.  Until Luck gets more help on both lines, the Colts are probably not serious Superbowl contenders.  Then again, you never know.  You get in the playoffs and you can get hot and anything can happen.  In 2006 when the Colts won it they went in dead last in rushing defense and weren't that great running it either.  But they got hot and the rest is history.  I do still think they can win the division and get in the playoffs, and I expect to see the Bills there too.  I picked them to win the AFC East because I feel the Pats were weakened too much defensively.  I hope the Bills put a beat-down on them next week.

I am not surprised at all by the outcome.  I think we will rebound and win next Monday night.  Good luck to the Bills from here.....until we meet again.

  3. Good to see nobody is panicking (LOL).  I guess I need to remind the panickers that the Colts were 0-2 last year?  Yeah, maybe its more of the same in terms of stopping the run, protecting the QB, etc.  But they'll get it together and still have a good season and make the playoffs.  Of course they won't win the Superbowl until they fix the line issues, but they'll be in the hunt in January.  And stop acting like Buffalo is an also-ran.  I said we'd lose it and it went about as I expected in the final score.  They have a good coach now and have relatively few holes on that team.  If Taylor ends up preforming more like he did today then watch out....they may just rep the AFC in the Superbowl because they are stacked everywhere else.  It was a game at their place, home-opener, in crap weather.  No T.Y. or Gore for most of the 2nd half.

    I'll take a page out of Aaron Rodgers' book.  R  E  L  A  X.

  4. Sorry, but I only WISH I still lived there.  Moved to N. Phoenix back in '97 near the Paradise Valley Mall (if it's still there).  Moved back in 2001 after the birth of my first child.  We always said we'd move back to Indy when we had kids and we kept our promise.  But it's been a while.  That was when Manning was just getting going and there weren't too many Colts fans at the time, but I remember meeting a few (maybe one of you folks?).  I can only imagine how many more Colts fans there are out there now.  Used to go to a place in the N. Scottsdale area but can't remember the name.  Was a pretty nice place though.

But that is how I got my name.  Been using it since '97 in some form or another, not just here but other places also.  If I were still there I'd be glad to help you get a fan club started.

  5. Like everybody I'm hoping for a win, and if it happens I will be pleasantly surprised because I've been saying to anyone who will listen since the schedule came out that I think this is one of the toughest games we have all year.  That said, I still like the Colts to win 12 games despite starting with a loss (like last year, in fact we started 0-2).  But I think we are in the minority.  I suspect most Colts fans believe this will be either a Colts walk-over or close Colts win.  I hope they are right but I just think it's a bad matchup for a team looking to acquaint so many new faces to the system.  On the bright side, I'd rather be playing this game in Sept. than in Dec.

  6. I don't think ANYONE knows what to expect of the D.  There are so many new faces there that it's very tough to tell until they start playing.  I think the strength of the D is the LB corp.  But who knows?  I do NOT think watching last season is a good comparison though because of the turnover, especially up front.  Could be better, could be worse, could be about the same.  We will find out soon though.

  7. Supposedly Taylor is a smart guy, or so says Rick Venturi.  The knock is he is not a true pocket QB, so I think that is the key.  The Colts NEED to keep him pinched inside the pocket.  If he gets outside he can create plays with his legs.  This will be the key to success for the Colts D IMHO.

  8. To your question, yes I think Gore gets to 1,000 but with the caveat that he plays all or most of the games.  If you think about it, to get to 1,000 yards he only needs to average 62.5 ypg.  Now, that's if he plays all 16 games.  Let's say due to a combo of injury tweaks and the Colts being in position to rest some starters at the end of the season he only plays 13 games.  Then his average has to go up to 77 ypg which would get him a few yards over 1,000.  Him being the starter, he is likely to get at LEAST 15 carries per game.  Average that out and he would need to get about 5 ypc.  This is sorta odd because that's about exactly what he averaged in his TWO carries in the pre-season.  But I'm betting there will be games (Jacksonville and Tennessee I'm looking at you) where the Colts will have such a large lead that he will likely see many more carries.  So now he is probably looking at about 4.3 to 4.5 yards per carry.  History shows that Gore is the type of back that can do this and I think he will do it here.  Even with our OL a decent back (see Bradshaw) can get that type of production.  Gore > Bradshaw IMHO.

  9. Mooch, Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner and Michael Irvin.

    KISS OF DEATH. Jinxed

I saw that too and I was thinking the same thing.......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  Although Irvin DID get his pick right last year with the exception of having the Seahawks winning instead, which SHOULD have happened.

I don't think it's a bad thing necessarily though.  Means the Colts should be pretty good and in the conversation.  I thought it was weird though that all four picked a different NFC opponent.  They had the Seahawks, Packers, Eagles, and Cowboys losing (guess who picked Dallas?)

  10. I want to see a Colts win.  But I have been calling this a loss since the schedule came out and I'm gonna stick to my guns.  The Bills will be one of the surprises of the season IMHO.  I think the Colts lose a close one, something like 27-26.  But it's NOT a season-ender.  They lost in the opener on the road last season in another close one and rebounded nicely to make the AFC Champ.  There will be some growing pains for the newcomers on defense but they'll come around.

  11. What I don't get in all of this is why in the world would the NFL want to start a "witch hunt" of the Pats and Brady in particular?  The NFL, which makes billions, off of it's most popular (and best) teams and players and they WANT to find that one of those teams, and quite possibly one of the greatest players of all-time, is guilty of infraction or "bending the rules"?  What good could this possibly serve the NFL?  That "idea" has never resonated with me.  The Colts or Ravens, yes, I could understand that.  But the NFL league office?  It just doesn't add up.  And I suspect that, coupled with the massive amounts of money required to argue their case, they would much rather have no scandal and not have the prospect of losing NFL fans staring them in the face.

Can ANYBODY tell me why this would be GOOD for the NFL?
