  1. I said a few weeks back if they are healthy I think they are the most complete team and I got laughed at which I expected.

With Schaub I think the Texans had a great chance of being in the SB right now vs. the Giants. Yates is a big reason they lost to Baltimore. That D smothered the Ravens and Yates forgot what team he was playing for.

If they continue on this road they will be a force in the AFC for a while. That is if they can continue this of course.

  2. We beat the trxans without their 3 best players.

You said we have since added 3 rookies but its going to take a lot more then that. We are awful in defense and on the oline. A lot changes in 2 years in the nfl. Some feel we can just throw manning on this team and win a super bowl and that's fine but it's also ok to think that even with manning we aren't winning any rings anytime soon. He did it once in his prime.

We also beat the Texans without Wade there. Huge difference to me as well. We saw Houston with Wade and without Wade. Carolina beat them too.

Of course it's divisional and often bad division teams upset good ones. 2006 anyone?

  3. So we are inferior to the Texans, even without Schaub...even though we beat them WITHOUT Manning this year...

We cant get to the Super Bowl with a rookie Head Coach...even though we got there in Caldwell's rookie year...

We need to move on from Manning and do things different because of wanting a "team"...but then draft a QB #1 who will make the same amount of money in 5yrs

If you bring Peyton back, we cant make the Super Bowl and not even the Playoffs in your opinion...but we would be better with a rookie QB?

We arent even close to being able to compete for a Super Bowl...yet we were in it two seasons ago and have since added Castanzo, Ijalana, Nevis and all of our top of the round draft picks from this coming draft

yeah, you make perfect sense...or not lol but i guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Me personally, i prefer to win and dont want to suffer through any more 2 win seasons...to me, having Peyton for a few more years while Luck gets used to the NFL and learns seems like a better scenario than just releasing Peyton etc

So most want to go the Packers route? Well keep in mind Rodgers was A VALUE pick where he fell in the draft. You are talking about spending the first overall pick in the draft to SIT ON THE BENCH.

And even Favre word was, was upset the team spent the pick on a QB instead of helping them win immediately.

IMO I think the team has to choose. You have to go with Manning or Luck. Having both to me just makes little sense for a team lucky to win two games last year.

  4. I don't understand when people say the Colts are not Super Bowl ready when just 3 yrs ago they were in the Super Bowl and two yrs ago a injury ridden team made the playoffs for tenth straight year. And now the Colts had one terrible year and everyone says not Super Bowl ready..

I guess 3 years ago they were not Super Bowl ready too...

Probably fortunate we made the SB that year. It was still Dungy's team. Fortunate also that we played Flacco and Sanchez to get to the big game. In the SB against a real team and a real QB we got embarrassed. All the weaknesses showed through and even Peyton played a large role in that loss even though most don't admit it.

I know many want to relive the past. Relive Peyton's prime years and all.

I just am not convinced this is our time though right now. Might be again, but right now I am not feeling that it is.

Sure the Colts beat two teams in the division last year. It happens. Just ask the Saints because the Bucs often get them once a year too.

This team is a mess. Not even Peyton at age 36 is going to patch up all these holes in one offseason with a rookie HC and a rookie GM.

  5. Years of poor drafting and mismanagemet have caused this mess to happen. In 2010 we saw it start to fall apart with nearly losing the divison to the Jaguars. Lack of depth everywhere with injuries.

This past season showed just how bad things have gotten everywhere. There was also again, little depth and most importantly at QB.

With Irsay firing just about everyone it became clear to me (or so I thought) this team was rebuilding.

If you are starting over why do you have Manning? It makes little sense to me. I don't see this as being a SB caliber team anytime soon. Not with a rookie HC. And not with Houston in this division. Be honest with yourselves. Houston even without Schaub was a contender. That is scary. Add in Schaub and they are a top 5 team in just about every statistical category.

You bring back Peyton and not only is it going to be difficult to win a title it's going to be tough to even make the playoffs IMO.

This team has been the Peyton's for years. Personally, I want to see a team again.

This does not mean I don't love and appreciate all Manning has done and hope he has a healthy future. It means I care deeply about the future of this organization as well and I don't think it helps the team or Manning to have them co-exist right now. I really don't.

If this rubs some the wrong way I am sorry.

I had to get this off my chest.

Lastly, there is no reason for the Manning camp to release information this week or to do interviews. It is taking away attention from the two QBs in the SB who deserve the spotlight.

  6. Little bit of a stretch, but nothing no one doesn't already know. I am amazed that there is even speculation that Peyton will get that 28 mill. I don't see how it would be possible that he is not cut. However, I think it would be wise of Irsay to ask Manning for an opportunity to sign him as a Free Agent (or match an offer). I think it would be reasonable to compete for him on a 2 year deal.

Just my thoughts...seem realistic, but who knows.

Yeah. For a while I never saw Peyton getting the 28 mill. Thats a huge risk. Peyton got paid pretty handsomely last season for not playing at all.

Irsay has a business to run. He does not think like a lot of fans.

  7. http://content.usato...peyton-career/1

Peyton Manning plays (or is it played?) for the Indianapolis Colts.

As much of the NFL world waits to figure out the correct way to say that sentence, so does Peyton's little brother Eli.

In a nine-minute press conference in his big brother's city, Eli Manning spent much of his podium time fielding questions on his big brother.

He answered them, mentioning he won't be seeing his big brother much despite being in his city, but with only 30 second left in his press conference he slipped a little in his wording.

"I really haven't thought much about playing in Indianapolis," Eli Manning said. "It's not really a time to reflect right now on, on ... on that. It's just a matter of trying to get ready for the Patriots , trying to get ready to play this game, uh, getting prepared for their defense and we'll look back on, on the fact on playing in the Super Bowl in Peyton's uh ... in the town where he played his NFL ... uh ... plays, you know, plays for the Colts ... we'll look on that later."

And that, ladies and gentleman, is how the press conference ended.

  8. Well put Superman. It doesn't matter. Lets just be grateful we've been blessed to witness such greatness by each of these superstars. I for one will be pulling for the Patriots this Sunday. Not because of any QB on the field but because of a certain owner that helped tremendously in getting the labor deal done so we could have a season this year and Indianapolis's first Super Bowl. After the high of getting the labor agreement done his beloved wife passes away crushing him and the whole Patriots organization. I haven't seen one article on this or any talk about it on TV this week which is really sad in a way. Just remember this Sunday as your watching the big game, fellow Colts fans, that Mr. Kraft is not at all a bad guy but IMO very deserving of taking that Lombardi trophy back to Gillette Stadium.

All right. Enough of this Pats mushy talk. *sigh*

But, I swear the Giants owner was the next/other busiest in getting the deal done in the offseason too. Or so I read.

  9. Not sure if this was ever posted. I read it a while ago and it always stuck with me.

    From Jim Harbaugh:

    http://bayarea.sbnat...uch-as-his-wife

"I was thinking just the other night that two people in my life, my wife and our quarterback, Andrew Luck, have a lot in common in that they're just both perfect. With most people you say, 'If they only didn't do that. Or they didn't do this.' Or you wish they could do this, or you wish they could do that. But I don't do that with my wife Sarah or Andrew Luck. They are just absolutely perfect the way they are. For football coach that's pretty great -- to have a great wife and a great quarterback."
  10. Well it's not gonna happen so he may as well get prepared to take the heat because if I was a betting woman I would bet on a lot of heat.

:flaming: :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: :flaming:

A Peyton release IMO will hurt when/if it happens. But, it should not be a total shock to those who have been paying attention all along. This has been a slow and inevitable release at times IMO if it does indeed happen post SB.

Then if/when it does happen, PR will start to sell Colts fans on the idea of someone other then #18 taking over the franchise at QB for the future but to also realize not to expect an overnight miracle.

Anyone remember hearing early in the season like before week 1 or 2 that Polian was seen at a Stanford game scouting? Things early on that make me go hmmmmmm........

  11. Personally I have felt that ship has sailed as soon as we were falling in line for the #1 pick, or that close to the #1 pick. Obviously Polian isn't here any more, but I had the perception that him and Irsay would be willing to move future draft picks to move up to #1 if they didn't get it on their own.

Started to feel meant to be to me as well with a loss every week. And I also wonder how Peyton really truly feels about the Luck situation. I mean, before the Pats game when he was asked about the Polian comments with drafting Luck or a QB I did not feel Peyton was comfortable. The Archie Manning comments.........

I don't know. I guess I never truly felt like Luck/Manning would co-exist on the same squad. I also don't know if Luck should be on the bench for a few years if he is as good as advertised.

Dear God, this thing has turned into a soap opera.

  12. The most telling remark was his opening one. "I really feel good. I continue to make progress every day."

There was no hesitation in that. No "trying" or anything that can be misconstrued. The man said it and obviously believes it. There were no ticks or tells to suggest he was hiding anything.

Head-to-head doesn't matter. Federer is still a better player all-time than Nadal despite their head-to-head. H2H records are often circumstantial. Brady's head-to-head against Manning is pretty good, despite in being 2-5, or whatever, the last 7 times they played. The QB's don't play each other; they play against a defense.

I would support Luck if he were the Colts starting QB. I will support Manning wherever he goes, though I think it's here or retirement for him. If they were to somehow play against each other, I'd probably pull for Manning no matter what. I can't help but feel that this team did him a little wrong, and are vicariously trying to make it right with a rookie QB instead.

How? You mean now or in the past?

I am the opposite. I did think for a while Peyton might retire. In fact, I think Irsay was sorta hoping he might. Now, not so sure. Based on Manning, Cooper, Eli or whoever else I hear......I am sensing Peyton is dead set on playing again in this league.

Just not convinced it will be with the Colts.

I know Dungy also thinks it's the Colts or retirement. Then again he has been so dead wrong at times on this team.

  13. Here's the thing Manning saying he hopes this is seatled soon is probably not good news if you are a fan of him staying. Unless he has healed and is tricking everyone I am guessing he might be ready to tell the Colts if you are going to release me just do it and get it over with and let's not have this play out. I am sorry but I don't see the Colts commiting to Manning unless they know for a fact he's healthy and I don't think they know that right now.

With that said I would love to be 100% wrong about this and have Manning stay a Colt and finish his career here.

My point kinda all along. I never felt comfortable with this interview. I don't get the optimism either. It does tell me Manning might play next year, but not with the Colts.

He wants this settled sooner then later.

  14. As much as I try to find a way for Peyton an Luck to be here together so Luck can learn from one of the very best, I just can't see any logical way for it to happen. If I just thought with my emotions like many here do then yes there is a way for it to happen, but when you throw logic into the equation, then there just isn't any logical way for them both to be here. And no, I don't think Manning will be ready in time for the march 8th deadline, so that alone tells me Manning will not be here. There is just no way on earth Irsay is going to pick up that 28 million dollar option unless Manning is completely healthy.

One thing I can assure anybody is, that Irsay is not going to make an emotionally charged decision about whether to keep Manning or not. Thats the main difference in the way the fans are thinking and the way the owner of a multi-million dollar organization is thinking. I don't really care if Manning is making progress or not, if he isn't 100% completely healthy by the deadline then he won't be a Colt next season.

Like you, I also would be suprised if both Luck and Manning were on the same team next year. I am not sure I want it to happen either.

  15. That is kinda sad, but expected. It's only amplified with the game being here in Indy.

Not sure if you are much on trivia but here is a neat fact you can take back to your Giants board.
