  1. Personally I am pretty proud of Eli and think he is one of the best big game QBs I have seen in some time. His teams win in hostile envirnoments a lot in the playoffs. What his teams have done now and in 2007 are simply amazing. And lets not act like these Giants were some regular season powerhouse either. I actually think they got healthy at the right time more then hot at the right time. They had guys in and out of the line up all season. The run game finished DEAD LAST. The D was maybe 27th overall by years end but certainly when healthy is a much higher unit then that ranking IMO. His receivers were never 100% all year.

Somehow Eli was a common force though this season and helped lead his team to comeback wins and kept them stable with all the injuries.

    Eli deserves IMO enourmous credit.

As for the Pats I actually give them credit too because this D has been terrible but a constant has been the offense led by Brady, just a notch higher on D then Green Bay who to me suprisingly fell off the map on defense this year regardless of the reasons it happened. They managed to get by two poor passing teams at home in the playoffs but I still have to see more. I have to see how they do against the Giants passing game. The Giants to put it bluntly have had thier number in some ways in recent meetings. Much like when the Colts play the Chargers.....the match ups have favored the G Men. Tough SB, again. I feel despite the regular season record of the Giants that they are far superior and more around an 11 win team in a competitive NFC.

As much as Colts fans hate to admit it, the general public puts a lot of stock into postseason success. They put a lot of stock into beating quality teams/QBs and seeing QBs have big moments on the biggest stages.

We can argue till the cows come home. Peyton has won 1 SB but has not always played his best football when the stakes were at it's highest. Personally, I feel if the pick 6 in the SB never happened he would be in better shape for all time debates. The way it stands now with Brady getting back to another big game (whether he wins or loses it) it's going to be difficult for Peyton to go down as the all time great.

This does not mean that Peyton can't go down as an all timer. It just means it will be increasingly more difficult to be labeled GOAT. Heck even Rodgers this year broke his all time passer rating. Records are being broken left and right by QBs and should continue to do so. Records and stats are not always what they used to be based on all the quality QBs and offenses that are around and will continue to be around.

  2. Well it is good to know that we are in agreement on that topic. Peyton's injury bugged me from the start as well. I felt deep down when it was announced that he was missing the first game that it would end up being most if not all of the season. It has gone on even longer than that and we still don't know what the deal is regarding his ability to return.

I think Andrew Luck has the tools to do well in this league if surrounded with the proper talent around him. It is critical to build up a strong defense and running game because I think he needs that more than Peyton to be successful. He will be a different kind of QB than Peyton but can still be effective in his own right. Not as dynamic but in some ways more dangerous as he has other skill sets that Peyton doesn't possess. Of course there are no guarantees but I simply don't believe the Colts can afford to take a pass on him given the uncertainty of Peyton's future.

Luck might be able to have someday what Peyton consistently never did. And this is a balanced team.

The future is so bright I gotta wear shades.

I just feel like the times they might be a changin.

    We'll see.

I would love to see the Colts build a true team who can compete every year for a title. Not just be the Peyton Manning's. Because lets face.....this was a one man team in so many ways. I blame much of it on NaPolian.

  3. Is this the JULES? lol If so what's up girl? Nice to see you here.

    Yep it's me. The Jules.

Honestly since this whole Peyton thing started to develop it never sat right in my gut. I think you have to cut off a limb to keep a Manning out of a game. For Peyton to miss one game it had to be pretty bad, let alone the entire season.

I feel like we never also get true updates on Peyton's health either. Where is he in his mind? How far along?

And no I don't think you can pass on Luck either. I think that would be ridiculous. Some want the extra picks in a trade but then again those extra picks could turn into busts for all we know. At the very least I DON'T feel Luck will be a bust. I do think he is going to be a good NFL QB someday.

  4. I am an Indanapolis Colts fan first unlike a bunch here who are Peyton Manning fans first. I would much rather see the franchise be set up for success taking a very good prospect, one of the best to come along in some time, rather than put all the eggs in one basket. That basket being a 36 year old quarterback with 3 neck surgeries who EVEN post-op will have question marks as to how he will play. That is me. I am grateful for what Manning has done but tossing Manning outright in glee? Sure you can call it that. I call it moving forward. I am not going to grasp at straws, cross my fingers, or make up assumptions (which is all I hear). If my words have struck you the wrong way then that is fantastic.

I agree. I have not posted on a Colts forum in ages now actually but I have been lurking. Things have been a mess right?

IMO it's time to move on. Sorry but it is. This team was lucky to win 2 games after years of poor drafting and horrible coaching. Personally I think Luck is a stud and will be but maybe not right away. However, I don't understand for the life of me why people seem to think this team will have Peyton jump back on it and we are contenders again. This team is rebuilding unless I am totally missing out on all the signs here?

I also am one who was high on the Texans chances as soon as they hired Wade. With a healthy Schaub that was my AFC SB pick for this current season. They might be pretty scary for a few years or more. It is possibly their time with an elite D developing and a balanced elite offense with Schaub.

I think the writing has been on the wall for Peyton and I am fine with it. I appreciate all he has done in Indy but the future has to be taken into account here as well.
