  1. Cardinals.

    Larry Fitzgerald Sr. @FitzBeatSr

Archie Manning &I were talking about our sons having dinner tonight.Manning thinks highly of my son as I do his.Who picks up the check???

In case anyone cares, the Cardinals forums are going nuts over Manning rumors of him going there.

  2. Fear not my child.. or young lady... :)

Irsay is no dummy, he IS laying he groundwork for the "biggest" FA release in NFL history....

BUT... lets then see who is SO eager to pick up Manning and PAY him what he "demaands"... and it will be huge in a "bidding war"...

And as Andrew Brandt stated tonight on ESPN radio... "the NFL has the benefit of time regarding Peyton Manning, the Colts DO NOT"

    True...

Gonna be amazing to watch in many ways.

I also will remember and cherish the memories of Peyton when and if he is released. I think he is going to be released though....been a hunch for a while. Could be wrong but the signs are there....just like when you have to break up with a long time lover and the time has come.

I don't want people to think I dislike Peyton. I have rooted for him so hard at times I have lost my voice for days.

But, I sense our time is changing since Jim Caldwell called that time out against the Jets. If it isn't changing then I hope our destiny is not meddled with.

  3. From a business standpoint it makes more sense to let Peyton go, but from a die hard fans point of view you want to see your iconic QB take every snap with your Colts. Were the Niners fans happy to watch Joe Montana in a KC chiefs uni, or the Packers fans watch Farve on 'Gang green" or sporting purple and gold? No! The sentimental fan in me does not want to see manning go anywhere else but Luck seems to be the wave of the future, we have to recognize this gift that has fallen in our franchises lap (Peyton's injury = opportunity to draft Luck) example of turning Lemons into lemonade.

    I 100% agree. Well said.

My mind and heart have been going back and forth on this since week 1 last year actually.

I just hope the fanbase can deal with it if/when Peyton and the Colts part ways and if it indeed happens.

Still not sure I like the idea of both QBs. Not sure you spend the first pick in the draft on a QB if he is going to sit on the bench for 2+ years if you feel Peyton is going to last that long.

I understand. The Colts fanbase loves Manning to pieces. But, after this past season I feel the best thing to do is move on even if it hurts. I don't need people to agree with me either. I had to speak my mind though and get it out there.

  4. Yep, but we are talking about "multi zero having individuals"... they roll on their own time table.

Thus the cat fighting... neither is used to "not being in control"...

I just hope it ends well... Because Manning needs to be a part of Indy forever.

Didn't Irsay say after the Polian empire was fired that "He wanted his team back."?

I think Irsay is going to do what he wants.

    Peyton might be released.

Heck, Montana was released too. People get cut. It's sports. You root for the laundry not the player year after year....decade after decade.

I sound cold lately I know.

  5. Now see this is what we all want to "avoid"...

It's business... but... teh EGO is a ....

It seems near impossible to avoid the ego. They all got em. They all want what they want.

Honestly, Luck could play this out a lot like Rodgers did by saying all the right things. He could end up looking like the innocent one in this threesome when all is said and done.

I still love me some Peyton but I also feel like he is going about this all wrong at times. I also think at times Irsay is too. I swear the two of them are trying to almost out do each other now at times.

  6. I've never seen anything like it. The whole unpredictability of Manning's condition using your analogy is like trying to solve a puzzle without all the pieces. Or maybe someone snuck in a piece from another puzzle and exchanged it.

Okay TBH I think Peyton might know Irsay has his mind made up. And if it's being cut he wants it done sooner then later. If he thought he was staying possibly why not just wait on it?

  7. Won't be interesting at all... they are parting ways... it is just a matter of "public perception" now.. Nobody wants to be viewed as the bad guy.

And they both have huge EGO's and .... and the SB is in "their" city RIGHT NOW....

Someone said this on the radio the other day.

"You have a man and a woman thinking of getting a divorce. It's the Holiday's. The family is in town. The couple decides to hold off "the talk" until they all go home. But, neither the man or woman can help it. They take cheap shots at each other publicly while drunk and everyone in the room knows something is up."

The SB is the family in town.

I am guessing Luck is now the other woman for Irsay?! Peyton feels cheated on. Peyton wants an answer. Peyton is saying "Jim do you still love me. Jim we went through so much together. Oh JIM PLEASE NOT NOW. Luck is young but I swear I still have much to give you."

  8. It would result in the campaign gambit.failure, by calling the hand.

However, I don't think that is likely. What is more likely is the continued campaign gambit, met by retaliatory press releases, up until the principals meet to seek armistice and negotiate the outcome.

    I've said this many times.......;)

  9. Don't think you have to worry about that. Irsay wouldn't drop that bomb BEFORE the SB. At least I think.

I don't think so either but I use the word think too. I hope it does not happen. But, I feel like Team Peyton has backed Team Irsay into a corner to make a decision sooner then later.

  10. I wanted Green Bay to repeat. Sadly though, the last ranked D never got it going on. It might be better they did not make it. They deserved to lose to the Giants.

I know they lost Jenkins and Collins from the D but still it was a poor excuse for a D that was so rock solid the year before.

Aaron was lights out this season even when receivers couldn't catch a cold. *coughFinleycough*

  11. how is it nonsense? the Colts were the laughingstock of the entire NFL from the time they moved to Indianapolis until they drafted Peyton Manning nearly 15yrs later...and then for the nearly 15yrs that Peyton Manning has been here, we have the best record in the history of the NFL for a 10yr stretch...then Peyton Manning misses a season and we are 2-14...so where is the hole in what i said? Lets not forget, last season we were 10-6 with over 20 players on the IR and Peyton throwing to Blair White and Jacob Tamme, all while he had off and on numbness in his right arm and hand...we then draft two of the top OTs in the draft, one of the best DTs from the draft and will have picks at/near the top of every single round in this year's draft...so how are we "worse" than we were in 2010 or 2011, if we have a healthy Peyton Manning starting at QB? Its not as if his skill were in decline at all...4700yds and over 30 TD with Blair White and Jacob Tamme doesnt sound like a QB who is in decline to me.

Actually the 1995 season might be my favorite season ever even more so then all the Peyton years outside of 2006 when the defense took over the postseason.

    It's a team game folks.

    It's a team game.

All I Hear about is Peyton. Bring him back. I will be a fan. I will support him or Luck. But, don't cry when/if we fall short again in the playoffs.

  12. he said "the sooner the better" because he wants all of this drama to be over so he and the rest of the team can focus on getting back to being a WINNING football team next season. You said in another post that you're also a Packers fan...hopefully when Peyton lines up behind center next season as the Colts starting QB, you can just go watch the Packers rather than have to sit at home upset when Peyton is a major reason that we win the division again.

    lmao

  13. you know this 2-14 season we just had? that wouldve been considered a GOOD season before Peyton got here...all of these years that you have got to enjoy as a "die hard colts fan" as you call yourself (and that i doubt to be true), would likely have been a decade of losing if not for Peyton Manning. Instead of hoping that he gets shipped out of town, maybe if you're really a Colts fan, you should be glad that he's been our QB for as long as he has been.

I hate to quote jskinnz but this is absolute nonsense.

I am not even sure it's worth a well thought out reply. Also my family has run a business themselves my entire life. I probably think more like a business person in these events then I do a fan.

  14. If Manning signs a 3 year deal with another team, then that would be bad business for Irsay. I personally feel that he would look like a, self quoted, dipstick if another team signs Peyton, than if he keeps him and we are stuck with his contract.

You don't think Colts fans would move on if Peyton is released? Eventually?

Honestly, the PR work here by Manning and his camp has backed Irsay into a corner this week. I am not sure I like it either.

This is not ending as well as I had hoped and both sides IMO so far seem to be almost acting like a couple preparing for a divorce. This is like it's the holidays and you have to wait until the family is out of town to have "the talk."

I also feel bad for Irsay ATM actually since many will bash him if he has no choice but to release Manning eventually. Irsay has a business to run first and Peyton is part of his business.

Despite what many think Irsay did say this offseason early on that "he wanted his team back."

  15. Pretty sure releasing medical info without consent of the patient is illegal.

So yeah, Manning had to be ok with it and i don't believe for a second that he didn't have anything to do with the report getting out. Manning is a smart dude, when he wants to get something out, it gets done.

    Ahhh very good post.

    The plot thickens.

  16. You know, if we pick up his option, and he can't play, it will pretty much cripple this team for the next few years right? That's the issue. I would think that people who want to make the "All he's done for the team" argument wouldn't want his last action as a Colt to be condemning us to salary cap heck.

I'm not saying you have to release him, only that you have to be darn sure he's going to play if you pick up that option. The alternative can not happen regardless of how much Manning has done for this franchise and city.

Irsay is in a tough spot. Manning might be able to play at a high level down the road but he may not be able to prove this NOW in time for him to make a decision, if he has not already made it already.

Irsay has to think with his business in mind here, not just fan emotion.
